Losar means "new year", and chunyipai losar is a national holiday referred to as "The Traditional Day of Offering". The holiday usually falls in January or February.

Each year, King Jigme Khesar and Queen Jetsun Pema celebrate the occasion with their countrymen. This year, the couple marked the day with the people of Lhuntshe in Autsho and the year before that they travelled to Gyalpoishing in Mongar to celebrate Chunyipai Losar with the residents there.
