The PM does share in this video  with  the Duke and Duchess that Jamaica is "moving on" and intends to become an "independent and prosperous" nation.

To be honest, I believe that it's no secret that Jamaica has wanted to become a republic and however unlike Barbados which only needed an act from its Parliament, this step will require a referendum that will be voted on by the population and changing of the nation's constitution. In the meantime, Jamaica is still one of the realms within the Commonwealth and it would be unwise to have the country be "ignored" by the monarch and its representatives.

The Cambridges will also be going to a hospital and meeting with staff, travel to Montego Bay to meet the Jamaican Defense Force and then finally to be hosted by the Governor General for a dinner.
