Welcome to Part 2 of the Archewell Foundation, Invictus and other charities, news and activities.

I suppose this goes here? Harry and Meghan enjoy a day at an army base, lunch and a laugh with the servicemen and women. A nice way to spend Veterans Day IMO!

@Curryong-Yes. This is the perfect place to post anything about Invictus or the couple's charitable activities and of course Archewell.

Here's another link about their trip to the base and it includes a short video of their Intrepid Gala event.  :mil5: :happyusa:

I am not surprised that Archie loves that classic song.. However I am rather surprised and concerned that the students are not masked in that classroom.

wannable

Most likely ALL vaccinated?!

I went to the cinema yesterday, the vaccine card is a requirement to enter in a closed indoor site, with only the Covid19 seating guidelines.

TLLK

Possibly one dose at this point, but not likely fully vaccinated and the school mask mandate is still in effect for all NJ public,  private and charter schools.
Anyways apologies for going off topic here and we should get back to the topic of the thread.

Is Harry for real here?  He really needs to look at himself in the mirror before speaking as all he does is tell lies which is misinformation to begin with.  How can anyone on any panel ever believe a word out of his mouth is beyond me. They must the of the same character as Harry is.  Sad what he has become!

More on the Aspen Institute's Study and report which included Prince Harry as one of the contributors.

Prince Harry: online misinformation is a ?global humanitarian issue? | Prince Harry | The Guardian

QuotePrince Harry has described online misinformation as a ?global humanitarian issue? that needs to be tackled by policies including investment in local journalism and cracking down on super-spreaders of false content.

The Duke of Sussex contributed to a report by a US thinktank into disinformation, which made 15 recommendations after a six-month study.

Publicising the report on the website for Archewell, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex?s charitable foundation, Harry described the ?mis- and disinformation crisis? as a global humanitarian issue. Harry was a member of the commission on information disorder at the Aspen Institute, a US thinktank.

He added: ?I hope to see the substantive and practical recommendations of our commission taken up by the tech industry, the media industry, by policymakers, and leaders. This affects not some of us, but all of us.?

The 15 recommendations from the report, which was written by three co-chairs on the commission including the TV journalist Katie Couric, focus on the US and include ?substantial? investment in local journalism; more diverse workforces at social media companies; holding misinformation super-spreaders to account; and creating a US government ?national response strategy? for tackling misinformation.

Harry was one of 15 commissioners on the report who contributed via research and working groups. Other commissioners included Kathryn Murdoch, co-founder of the Quadrivium Foundation along with her husband, James Murdoch ? the youngest son of media tycoon Rupert. ?Information disorder makes any health crisis more deadly. It slows down our response time on climate change,? the report said. ?It undermines democracy. It creates a culture in which racist, ethnic, and gender attacks are seen as solutions, not problems. Today, mis- and disinformation have become a force multiplier for exacerbating our worst problems as a society. Hundreds of millions of people pay the price, every single day, for a world disordered by lies.?

Speaking at a conference in the US last week, Harry accused British journalists of amplifying the ?hate and the lies? spread by some social media accounts. Last week the Duchess of Sussex apologised to the court of appeal, saying that she had not intended or wished to mislead the court but had ?forgot? she had authorised a senior aide to brief the authors of her and Harry?s unofficial biography. Associated Newspapers is appealing against the Duchess?s victory in a high court privacy case against the Mail on Sunday.More on the Aspen Institute's report which included  Prince Harry as a contributor.

One of the remaining UK based private patronages of Meghan Markle is in trouble.

Meghan Markle's favourite animal rescue charity 'in jeopardy' as staff row over 'bullying, racism, homophobia and wasted money'

Pet specialists at the Mayhew Trust are now fighting like cat and dog over claims of wasted money, falling standards of animal care, and even allegations of bullying, racism and homophobia.

TLLK

How sad for this organization which has been working for animal welfare since 1886. I hope that the issues can be resolved soon.

Ex-Palace aide to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is awarded Member of the Royal Victorian Order  | Daily Mail Online

QuoteMrs Loughran, who is originally from New Zealand, was previously employed in Prince William and Kate Middleton's household.

She is currently married to Harry's former assistant communications secretary Nick Loughran and had worked for the prince since 2015, organising his official engagements and charitable initiatives.

Mrs Loughran was one of two palace aides who lost their jobs when Harry and Meghan left the UK, along with Beth Herlihy.

It is understood she was made a Member of the Royal Victorian Order by the Queen on Harry's recommendation.

History must not repeat itself

Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex and UNAIDS Executive Director Winnie Byanyima, also co-chair of the People's Vaccine Alliance draw striking parallels between the struggles for access to HIV medicines and COVID-19 vaccines.

Curryong

His AIDS patronages were one of the things Harry had to give up. I remember in the West Indies Jubilee tour he persuaded Rihanna (can?t spell it) to get a test which was done in public as was his. I?m glad Harry hasn?t forgotten the importance of this world organisation and its Day. Covid may be raging everywhere but AIDS is still a significant problem in parts of the Third World. Linking the possible effects of neglecting testing and vaccinations for both mustn?t be ignored.

Somehow I thought the Diana Awatds thing was earlier in the year than the beginning of December. Good that the brothers are conducting things together this year.

@Curryong, I  wondered the same and had to look it up.Awards were in June, but these seem to be the Legacy award winners that the brothers were meeting with today.

Don't listen to him, people everywhere except the 1% have to pay bills and EAT.

Actually, at least here in Australia, there have been dozens of reports over the long lockdowns that people have been taking a long look at their working lives and life choices.

Similar to the sea changes that some individuals make in middle age the months of lockdown have spurred people into changes of careers, plans for retraining for completely different occupations and lifestyles and locales.

In my own extended family here three people have changed States and moved on to a different path. Plenty of time to reflect on these things when you can?t move more than 5k from your home for more than three reasons for many months.

Prince Harry's eco-travel firm raked in less than ?12k in first year | Royal | News - swiftheadline  Hopefully as the travel industry begins its recovery, Travelyst will see better figures in the future.

QuoteTravalyst, which was launched in 2019, is ?a non-profit organisation working to identify ? and help bring about ? the systemic changes needed in order for sustainable travel to be taken out of the niche, and into the mainstream?, according to its website.

However, the Companies House data suggests Travalyst?s performance since its inception has been less than stellar, possibly partly a result of the coronavirus pandemic which engulfed the world shortly afterwards.

The accounts for Travalyst Limited, defined as ?A company limited by guarantee?, for the period ending June 30, 2021, show a profit and loss account of ?11,538.

The total is arrived at by adding the amount owed by debtors (?106,537) to the total cash at bank and in hand (?241,433) and then subtracting the amount owned to creditors for amounts falling due within one year (?336,432).

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry know the importance of giving back.

In honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex showed their unwavering support to Dr. Bernice King ? daughter of the late Martin Luther King Jr. ? by providing meals for volunteers and staff organizing Monday's events at The King Center in Atlanta, a spokesperson for the couple told PEOPLE on Monday.

Local Black-owned food trucks, Paige's Pastries & Bistro and Parlay Savory Saloon, served free lunches to those on-site who helped put together today's events, including a voter registration and education drive, as well as a service project to gather donations for unsheltered and homeless individuals in Atlanta.

Good publicity for local African American owned small businesses in the Atlanta area.

Harry and Meghan are setting up a network of 11 companies in Delaware | Daily Mail Online

QuotePrince Harry and Meghan Markle are setting up a complex network of companies all based in the opaque tax haven state of Delaware ? despite living and doing business in California.

Meghan's longtime lawyer and business manager have incorporated 11 companies and a trust for the couple since April 2020, state filings reveal, including a firm apparently set up for Harry's multi-million-dollar memoir book deal.

Names for the companies include an intriguing Japanese term for deal making, a reference to Meghan's freckles in Spanish, a South American river, and a possible allusion to a $44,000 'babymoon' getaway the couple took in 2019.

The companies are all headquartered in the Beverly Hills offices of attorney Richard Genow, who has worked with the Duchess for years.

Also appearing on company filings for all 11 firms is her business manager Andrew Meyer, a well-connected money guru whose clients have included Jon Chu, Anna Kendrick, Adam Driver, Kathryn Hahn, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ellen Pompeo.
