A great shame for the athletes and everyone involved, including Harry, but so many events like this are going by the wayside now, so it was inevitable really. There's always next year.

I do have doubts now about the 2020 Olympics. This thing may still be going by the northern summer.

I agree that the IOC will likely determine that the 2020 Olympic Games will need to be postponed or cancelled.
Disappointment likely to continue for other sports events worldwide.

CNN just said Tokyo Summer Olympics games will go on

Here, the Republicans and Democrats have their political conventions in the election year, July ,August.

June, July, August are far away.
Yet not really for  something like the worldwide events.

Very sad, but he made the right decision IMHO. Many of the Invictus athletes have disabilities that put them into high risk groups, even if they are athletes training and participating in physical competition.

Prince Harry and Jon Bon Jovi have released the Invictus Games single "Unbroken."

Prince Harry and Jon Bon Jovi release Invictus Games single

QuoteDespite the delay, the song will be available to stream and download from Friday, with one of the choir members saying it will ?touch many hearts and be a light during this troubling time?.

Susan Warner, a member of the choir who was seriously injured during an Afghanistan deployment in 2009, said the song offers hope to veterans during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The 61-year-old told the PA news agency: ?We hope the single will touch many hearts and be a light during this troubling time for so many people around the world. It just feels like it is so important.

?In life you never know what might open up or what is going to happen. This is a very good example. There we were in Abbey Road Studios and we were singing Unbroken. Then, a month later, here we are.?

Foundation Spotlight: Invictus Foundation ? Royal Central

QuoteThe word ?invictus? means ?unconquered? and the first Invictus Games event was held in London in 2014. The event was founded by Prince Harry, who wanted to establish an international sporting event for injured service personnel and those battling illness and was inspired by the Warrior Games in 2013 in Colorado. The Prince had long been involved in creating opportunities for current and former service personnel and was a champion of the benefits of sporting activity for rehabilitation in terms of both mental and physical health. The ethos of the games is to highlight the service of serving and ex-military personnel and support them and their families in their journeys of rehabilitation and recovery.

The success of the first event in London led to the creation of the Invictus Games Foundation, which organises the locations for future games. The Foundation has an international scope ? twenty nations currently participate in the games, with interest always increasing. The Foundation works in partnership with other organisations, supporting current and former service personnel.

After the success of the first Invictus Games, they were further held in Orlando in 2016, Toronto in 2017 and Sydney in 2018. The next Invictus Games were due to take place this year in The Hague but have been delayed due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. The event will be rescheduled to take place in 2021, on a date yet to be confirmed.

Some background information on the Invictus Games from this well known royal blog site which is highlighting various royal foundations and charities.

We've been watching some sports events recently in the same format. Of course it isn't the same but it's better than nothing and Invictus Games (and London Marathon etc) will be back better than ever next year.

While it's not Invictus, Prince Harry is participating in a documentary about the ParaOlympics. (Which would have been being held in Tokyo just about now.)

I saw a larger spoiler alert as a Netflix subscriber.  The documentary main focus is to create awareness and money as the Paralympics is always in a critical situation.  It's fairly young, 16 years old.

With the pandemic, the world is changing and I think it will never go back to pre covid19, sales were 12% opening/closing the in-between events half or towards empty seats.

Unlike the Invictus who receive moneys from the respective participating military department from their countries, budgeted moneys from their DOD, MOD, etc. many Paralympic countries participate via private donations.

Curryong

I feel very sorry always for the organisers of the ParaOlympics. This completion is often ignored or pushed aside and lacks funding. It should have been given some funding by its big brother organisation from the beginning IMO. Glad to see that Harry is speaking in the documentary.

Unfortunately I have to agree with you that the ParaOlympics are underfunded and rarely receive the focus that the Olympics do. The pandemic is going to have far reaching impact. I hope that the delayed Summer Games in Tokyo will be able to be held in 2021.

wannable

Yes, it's very telling when a film or documentary is done free of charge (equipment and human resources) or with the smallest ever budget to help a cause.

How to know, when a production has this amount of people taking turns for free.  Usually a blockbuster for profit has 2-3 producers/executive producers.

Greg Nugent, John Battsek, and Tatyana McFadden produce along with executive producers Richard Curtis, Barbara Broccoli, Barnaby Spurrier, Godric Smith, Dee Ryder, Xavi Gonzalez, and Andrew Ruhemann.

Yes, Harry's great passion and idea! He has such a bond with these vets, though not so many wide smiles as usual from him this time. Hope everything with the IG goes ahead as planned.

Eagle eye royal watchers think that Harry filmed his part at the Sandringham stables, possibly March 2020?

The Invictus Hague, Netherlands 2021 has been postponed for 2022.  So this German edition will move further.

TLLK

Disappointing but not unexpected.

A video message from athletes and Prince Harry announcing the postponement.

Curryong

Yes, a sad day for the athletes but not really unexpected. With so many of the competitors having various physical conditions it would be too much of a risk to continue. This pandemic has played havoc with so many planned events. (I still don't think the Tokyo Olympics will go on this June.)

A disappointment, for Harry as well, but his baby, the Invictus Games will go on. First the Netherlands next year then Germany.

QE, Parliament needs to remove Henry from line of succession AND ANDREW TOO.
Otherwise.....
THIS IS FOOLISH,BRF, silly looking.

Curryong

Its never been suggested by BP, the Queen or anyone else in the RF that Harry (or Andrew York for that matter) will be losing his Dukedom of Sussex. It's never been suggested by any of the above that Harry (or Andrew) is going to be moved out of the line of Succession.

It has been the province of Big Mouth Morgan, and the British tabloids that both were going to take place. Morgan went so far as to Demand it, lol! Nobody at the Palace or within the family takes any notice of such demands or of speculation by rags that none of them are fond of anyway.

Britain is in the middle of a Covid epidemic. Parliament at Westminster has great trouble getting through all its proposed legislation, Committee meetings, reading of petitions (most of which never get debated, some due to time constraints) other official business etc, at the best of times, without having to act in two Houses on Harry being taken out of the line of succession.

It is not an easy matter of the British Parliament doing so, anyway. That proposed legislation would have to wend its way through every Parliament in the Queen's Realms, Australia, NZ, Canada, etc etc to be debated then passed or refused.

PS Because of the arrangements every Province in Canada and every State in Australia has with the Queen as Queen of Canada and Queen of Australia,  it might well be that each legislature as well as the Fed/National Parliament in these two realms would have to debate it as well.
As an Australian I can assure you that with foreshortened Parliamentary sessions operating at various times in this past year due to Covid, that our Parliamentary legislature has a backlog, and certainly won't be debating it.

And no amount of wailing and stamping the feet demanding by anti-Sussexites, including Morgan, and by people who are neither British or Commonwealth citizens, will be changing the situation.
