It was supposed to be the spectacular event which sparked an exciting two weeks of intense competition - but even the guests of honor appeared bored by the proceedings.
Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, has been criticised for her seemingly disinterested attitude towards the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games at Carrara Stadium on the Gold Coast.
During the broadcast of Wednesday evening's ceremony the 70-year-old Royal appeared bored during the show.

Camilla never wanted to be Queen or in the public eye. She was happy being the mistress behind the scenes. All Charlie had to do was put a few million pounds in a bank account for Millie--insure her future comfort--and that would have been fine with Millie. She would only have had to see him a couple of times a week, she could live at Ray Mill House, and do what ever she wanted. Charles didn't need a wife to be King. Camilla wasn't going anywhere if he didn't marry her. Now Camilla has to play a role she never wanted---Charles will outlive her.

The thing is Camilla was not happy behind the scenes. She was infuriated at the Van Cutsem's when she was not allowed to sit with Charles at the Van Custem's son's wedding. She wanted what Diana had. Plus Charles named her publicly.

Odd that the DM says it's a magazine in one sentence and then calls it a Games program in another. :unsure: If she's looking through the official program, she doesn't appear to be bored IMO. If anything she's reading the information about the Opening Ceremony.
SHe does not look happy in any of the photos taken.
I'm sorry to say this as a person who is proud of Australia and its membership of the Commonwealth, but IMO Camilla looked uninterested at the opening ceremony last night. (I watched it live and it was great.) A lot of the time she just flicked through her programme or just appeared bored.
Charles seemed a bit flat too tbh but I ascribed that to perhaps some worry about his father (excellent news about that today btw,) and the bad publicity of the recent Bower book, which may have got him down. Camilla may have felt ill or something, I don't know, but people here aren't impressed by her demeanour. Even my husband noticed and he's very unobservant about that sort of thing. He just said 'What's the matter with them?'
It reminded me of photos of Charles and Diana in Korea. Maybe they are having some issues.

He left the marital bed and that was that. If Diana was to be believed, he was emotionally in love with Camilla throughout their marriage. I maintain that Camilla has been Charles' closest companion for over 45 years, both respective marriages notwithstanding. She is hardly going to throw some childish strop at the Commonwealth games because she knows virtually everything about him and loves him as he is. This is just a case of clutching and straws, desperately hoping that the marriage is on the rocks. It is not and will never be. Camilla knows her husband very well and is an expert at keeping his interest in her.
Oh please Camilla was married to Andrew Parker Bowles from 1973 to 1995 a fact that has nothing to do with what Diana did. She could not be "with" Charles, she was sneaking around on her husband. Charles had many other women and came close to marrying three others pre Diana. Camilla behaved rudely and she did also on the other tour when she giggled at the singers. It shows how rude the woman is. Camilla lives elsewhere and is set for life. When Camilla was providing the heir and spare for Andrew he had a "replacement for her" with married Dale Tryon. Oh what a faithful man your darling Charles was.

the idea charles was with Diana after 1984 is a joke. i agree...
They were still married however much it is spun. Harry was born in September 1984 and before he was born, Diana said she and Charles were the closest they'd ever been. It was after Harry's birth that as Diana said "Charles went back to his lady."

Fantastic, Prince Charles managed to shot down the latest book of the high maintenance, serialized by various tabloids and broadsheet, negatively critisised by the public, and stayed at a 130 per night hotel.
Shot down? Not everybody buys into what Charles said, who is not all that truthful about what he claims all the time. And it was "out" in other sources before this writer. Even Junor admitted she had cooperation from C and C. The $130 story was obvious damage control. And I can sell some bridges to people who believe he does this all the time.
The couple actually stayed at the 130 per night hotel! No doubles or clones.
Not doubting it. But it was obvious damage control. It's not that Charles is not mega wealthy and spends a lot of money. If he wants to show he's thrifty, then maybe he could cut some other expenses like Camilla's maintenance and security watching her house when it's empty.
Hence fantastic, Charles is gauging media action and public reaction. Not all negative press is worth it, but picking your battles to do some PR correction is fine.
The royals have a long history of damage control.

Charles PR about the hotel is merely a band aid IMO. He already had a reputation for spending a lot of money and being "precious" in his private life. Berrie and Stephen Barry and others confirmed this. Where there's smoke there's fire.
