Not so big in Canada then? The Trudeau Govt cut short the Charles and Camilla visit to three days, possibly to mute any public protests about the hundreds of bodies of indigenous children that were discovered in children?s Homes/Schools. Also, for the first time in history no Canadian Jubilee Medals are to be issued. Unusual for a monarch who has reigned for seventy years.

From DM article headlined Prince Charles swerves apology.

?Cassidy Caron, Metis National Council President, who had said before the event she would also raise the question of an apology from the Queen, said the prince was 'listening' and 'acknowledging' what had happened in Canada's past which was 'very important' for the country.

Ms Archibald said about her meeting with Charles, hosted by Governor General Mary Simon: 'I asked for an apology from his mother the Queen, the head of the Anglican church, for whatever happened in the institutions of assimilation and genocide. I also asked for an apology for the failures of the Crown in that relationship that we have with them, in our treaty relationship with them.?

I can't find the Commonwealth thread at HM board as head (if it does exist, please move this info), so I will post the Rwanda trip here.

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall will become the first members of the royal family to ever visit Rwanda later this month.
The couple are to represent the Queen at the biannual Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

Royal sources said it had been a long-held wish of the future king and head of the family of nations to visit the African nation. It is one of a minority of nations in the world not visited by the Queen.

Charles and Camilla will also meet survivors and perpetrators of the Rwandan genocide at the prince's request, and have been advised former professional footballer Eric Murangwa. You can read more about his story here👇

Prince Charles brands Home Office Rwanda deportation scheme 'appalling' | Daily Mail Online

BBC says
QuotePrince Charles is to represent the Queen in Kigali, the Rwandan capital, at a Commonwealth summit later this month. His office reiterated he remains "politically neutral".

Sky News says
QuotePrince Charles is said to have privately called the UK government's plans to send some illegal migrants to Rwanda "appalling".

The prince, 73, is said to be particularly frustrated because he is due to represent the Queen at the Commonwealth heads of government meeting in the Rwandan capital Kigali this month.

A spokesperson for the prince stopped short of denying reports that he is said to be privately "disappointed" by the strategy. Clarence House insisted he had not tried to influence the government

The Rwanda policy may well be inhumane, appalling and callous. However Charles as POW has a long history of delving into and sometimes opposing British Govt policies, dating right back to the early Blair years and beyond. If he, as King, decides that his conscience won?t allow him to sign a piece of legislation into law, or he appears to enthusiastically back or oppose certain govt initiatives then the fat will really be in the fire. Moving beyond the usual prerogatives of a monarch to ?advise, consult and warn? might lead to a constitutional crisis in some circumstances.

Prince Charles will be very happy.

#Breaking Government sources have confirmed to the PA news agency that due to last minute interventions by the European Court of Human Rights all migrants have been removed from the plane and the flight to Rwanda will not take off as scheduled tonight.

If Charles feels some awkwardness when meeting with Rwandan officials that will be due to his reported private wading into the controversy over the Johnson Govt?s immigration measures with illegal immigrants. It?s not up to Charles to make remarks about whether the policy is humane or not.

He?s not an elected official and should leave such comments to the Opposition or to Johnson backbenchers who object. Charles has always been too fond as POW of speaking out on issues that don?t meet with his personal approval. It doesn?t bode well for him as King.

And of course Rwandans are going to be annoyed with him. He knew when he spoke about the policy privately that he would be going to Rwanda for CHOGM. Did he expect to be greeted by hearts and flowers by Johnson and co and by Rwandan Govt ministers? Obtuse is a good description of Charles!
