Happy Birthday to CPss Mette-Marit.  :bday7:

Next week the CP couple will be celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary.  :lovestars:

Crown Princess Mette Marit to celebrate her birthday privately ? Royal Central

QuoteCrown Princess Mette Marit of Norway turns 48 years old today. The Crown Princess is not in the habit of celebrating the day in public. The only public celebrations of the Crown Princess? birthday this year will be that all public buildings will fly the Norwegian flag. At 12 o?clock, the Norwegian Armed Forces celebrates the day with a 21 gun salute from all national fortifications.

Next week, however, there will be more events to be celebrated. Instead of celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary themselves, the Crown Prince and Crown Princess have chosen instead to mark the 20th anniversary of the fund they created with the gift from the government to their wedding on August 25, 2001. The Crown Prince Couple?s Fund works for the inclusion of young people in society.

On August 24th 2021, the Crown Prince and Crown Princess will visit ?UngInvest? in Modum, one of the projects that has received support from the fund. On the anniversary itself, August 25th 2021, the Crown Prince and Crown Princess invite young people from the fund to their home, the Skaugum Estate to mark the 20th anniversary with a lunch.

Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway was born Mette-Marit Tjessem H?iby on 19 August 1973 in Kristiansand in southern Norway. She is the daughter of journalist Sven Olaf Bjarte H?iby and bank clerk Marit Tjessem. Mette-Marit married Crown Prince Haakon on 25 August 2001. Together with His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon, the Crown Princess has two children Her Royal Highness Princess Ingrid Alexandra, born in 2004, and His Highness Prince Sverre Magnus, born in 2005. The Crown Princess has an older son, Marius, from a previous relationship.

A Happy birthday to MM  and next week her and Haakon?s wedding anniversary. Their 20th, a great achievement. And a good idea to celebrate it with a concentration on their original Foundation.

A look back at the first royal wedding of the 21st century for a reigning royal family.  :hearts:

How a fairytale royal wedding became a modern milestone ? Royal Central As most royal watchers recall, this was an atypical royal match between the heir to the throne of a reigning family and a single mother. Also this was one of the first big royal events that could be found on the internet.

QuoteThe first major royal wedding of the 21st century was a fairytale come true. The romantic bride and groom had a love story that had enchanted millions while their marriage ceremony was a first taste of ancient tradition in a brand new millennium. And that brought another first with it. For the wedding of the Crown Prince and Princess of Norway, on August 25th 2001, was also the first real internet royal phenomenon.

The royal guests at the wedding of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway ? Royal Central _ If you want to take a trip down memory lane, you can see a number of royals who were either engaged- W-A and Maxima or unmarried at the time: Charles,  Frederik, Victoria, Carl-Phillip, Madeline,  Felipe,  and Martha-Louise.

Mette-Marit's stunning dress and her tiara are featured in this article.

Finally the flowers which were likely the most unique and creative that I've ever seen at any wedding. I'm a fan of the design, but I know it wasn't a top choice for many.

The most unusual royal wedding bouquet of all? ? Royal Central

QuoteIt?s not often the bridal bouquet gets its own name but that?s just what happened at the first major royal wedding of the 21st century. When Mette-Marit Tjessem Hjoiby married Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, on August 25th 2001 in Oslo, she carried an unusual arrangement of flowers that had a title all of its own.

The creation was called ?Brudeloperen? and it remains one of the most memorable of all royal bridal bouquets. It was designed by one of Oslo?s most respected florists, Aina Nyberget Kleppe, along with Mette-Marit herself and it defied every expectation for royal wedding flowers.

The shape is perhaps the most distinctive part of this arrangement. Mette-Marit moved away from the traditional formations of round posies or cascading bouquets and went linear with her flowers. The purple blooms were arranged in long, straight lines that fell almost to the floor.

The stems chosen to make up the bouquet included hydrangeas, orchids and roses as well as greenery like rosary vine and bear grass. The flowers were fixed to a structure of willow and moss, held together with wire, to help keep their shape through the long royal wedding day.

Mette-Marit chose deep shades of purple and green for her bouquet, another unusual pick. However, there are also more traditional bridal pinks in the flowers as well and from a distance, the bouquet gives a glancing impression of the colours of the Norwegian flag ? red, white and blue.

I?ve recently seen articles talking about her latest interview in which she talks about putting off her move to the US. She gives no reason, but Covid might be to blame. So she is celebrating her birthday with her family but without her boyfriend apparently.

:crown:  (Apologies the Royal Central site is having issues and I can't post the link to the article.) King Harald celebrates his 31st anniversary of his  ascension to the throne.

QuoteOn this day, 17 January, it is exactly 31 years since King Olav V died and his son took over as Norway?s new monarch. On the evening of 17 January 1991, at 10.20pm, King Olav V died at the royal cabin, Kongsseteren, in the outskirts of the capital, Oslo. Olav was King of Norway from the time he took over from his father, King Haakon VII, on 21 September 1957 until his death on 17 January 1991.

When King Olav died at Kongsseteren outside Oslo he was 87 years old and the world?s oldest monarch. Throughout the evening and in the days that followed the death, tens of thousands flocked to Castle Square in Oslo to remember King Olav and show their support for the Royal Family. The castle square was full of flowers and candles.

The official announcement of King Olav?s death was given by the King in an Extraordinary Council of State at the Palace at midnight. On January 18, King Harald gave his first speech as monarch, in which he remembered his father and asked for the support of the people in the deed that now lay before him.

King Harald later said that he thought his father, King Olav, was the first victim in the Gulf War. King Olav died of a heart attack while watching an extra news program on CNN on TV about the Gulf War. In an interview with TV2 in 2001, King Harald said that King Olav thought the Gulf War was the beginning of the Third World War and was so scared that he had a heart attack. King Harald was present when it happened and revealed that King Olav was annoyed with the Norwegian government which could not better inform him about what happened shortly before he died.
