QuoteYesterday, former King Juan Carlos of Spain handed out an economic award at the Bank of Spain headquarters in the nation's capital, Madrid.

The award went to one of the bank's own — Agustín Maravall, a member of the research staff with a special interest in the economic fields of time series analysis, seasonal adjustments, trends and cycles and dynamic econometric modelling. Maravall holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin, and furthermore, he has co-authored several computer programmes for time series analysis.

He received the award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the fields of econometrics and statistics applied to economics.
