I just turned it on, CNN, 4:00 am my time, CST, Texas, USA.

I had on FoxNews which was showing a rerun tv show from yesterday. FixNews has Piers Morgan as a host.
I will switch back and forth.

I missed QEs funeral?.a work week day for me.

This is a Saturday and I am up now. I?ll probably fall back to sleep at some point.
1981 was a lonnnnnnnnng time ago for me, lol, when I was up , start to finish, to watch LadyDiana and Charlie get married.

This is fascinating.

To me the crowds seemed to be down, even sparse at some points along the route due to the heavy rain. I doubt the crowds are as large in the Mall or anywhere else as they were in 1953 when there was a very different feeling towards a new and young monarch. The weather was bad on that day too, but photos show streets that were jam packed along a longer route than today?s.

Just my opinion, but it just doesn?t feel the same. At first I thought it was because of the toned down attire, but I think it?s something else. I know it?s ridiculous, but I can?t help but feel that it would feel a bit more celebratory if Diana were being crowned. Would never have happened if she lived, and my opinion has nothing to do with the personal relationships because clearly it was a nightmare behind closed doors.

But from a public perspective, from the pomp and ceremony perspective, it seemed a bit dim?and not because of the rain.

I feel this new monarchy is missing something. The Queen was exemplary in her position. It felt like it was from a different age because it was. I?m not sure the modern royals can capture what she had. None of this means that I personally believe the monarchy will be dumped because I truly don?t get that feeling. But it confirmed something I felt before the coronation, for me personally, a lot went by the wayside when the Queen passed.

I have my own thoughts of her as a person. But as far as her public role, I don?t know that I?ve personally seen anyone do it better.

Monarchy is smoke and mirrors. Of course none of these people are truly any more special than you or I, it?s a spectacle. She could draw attention in a way that was so personable and looked so sincere. Was it? I couldn?t tell you. But it looked it and that?s really all that matters, in my opinion, as far as monarchy is concerned.

Of course this is purely my own opinion, but the coronation just felt kind of ?eh? to me. It didn?t even feel like the dawn of a new era to me, really. The fact that he?s at such an advanced age didn?t help with that perception either.

I think quite a few people thought about Diana yesterday. She would have made a wonderful Queen. Charles was emotional, and dignified but there is no escaping the fact that, in contrast to 1953 and what was then described by commentators as the new Elizabethan Age stretching forward, this was a man in his mid 70s getting crowned, and his Queen is even older. However long the reign lasts it will not be the same.

Plus, expectations were lowered. People a few months ago were envisioning peers in coronets, velvet and ermine, their wives and royals in tiaras and diamonds, an overflowing Abbey, with no celebs and few serving politicians. And then came reality.

I?ll be interested to see the TV ratings for this. The BBC was reporting that many Londoners were leaving the city for the week to enjoy trips overseas. Street party numbers were down (and the incessant rain would have dampened that down, literally) and there were reports that many Britons were engaged in other activities this weekend. The Coronation wasn?t a damp squib by any means, but it wasn?t a beautiful golden rocket lighting up the heaven either.

Worldwide multiple channels 300 million.

That is not a huge number, replays and totaling will very likely be available by next Saturday.

The ''all things considered'' is live streaming and for free. The 4 hours plus is free for replay and later viewing. Time difference worldwide, like in my case, I'm the only one in the eye can see, woke up at 3:00 a.m. :teehee:

Yeah, and I thought I?d actually appreciate the lack of glitter, but as it turns out, no, I didn?t. Both royal weddings were more exciting and I know it?s a solemn affair, but I don?t know, it just felt so underwhelming. And you?re right, part of it was the lead up.
