Sophie of Merenberg (1868-1927) was the morganatic wife of Grand Duke Michael Mikhailovich of Russia.   
Her uncle, Grand Duke Adolphe of Luxembourg, gave Sophie the title of Countess de Torby.

Adolphe was King William III of The Netherlands' 17th cousin once removed through the male line. This is the greatest distance over which a crown has ever been inherited.

Adolphe abdicated as Duke of Nassau on September 9, 1867. He was granted 8,500,000 thalers and a few castles as compensation.
