On this closing Sunday of the Octave, the Grand-Ducal Couple and the Heir Couple went to Notre-Dame Cathedral in Luxembourg to attend the traditional pontifical mass in the morning with renewal of the consecration to Our Lady. Dame, before continuing in the afternoon with the closing ceremony, in the presence of Prince Charles.

Back after the cancellations due to the pandemic, the solemn procession, the first of Prince Charles, closed, as tradition dictates, the religious fortnight.

According to a report published on Friday by the newspaper 'd'L?tzebuerger Land', which has been confirmed by RTL, the case has been officially reported.

According to the report, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa and one of her employees had a verbal altercation. Upon enquiry, the Ministry of State confirmed this information.

The case is being handled by Jacques Flies, Secretary General of the Government Council and government representative on the Coordination Committee of the Maison du Grand-Duc. Flies has stated that what has occurred is "unacceptable" in his opinion.

For this reason, the employee who was mistreated was transferred to another position for her own protection.

According to d'L?tzebuerger Land, another employee requested a transfer, which was granted, but there is no further information concerning this incident. It is also unclear whether new staff will fill the vacant positions with the Grand Duke's wife.

Following the publication of the Waringo report, the Court was reorganised, and the Maison du Grand-Duc ("Grand Duke's House") was created. Since then, court employees benefit from the same protection as state employees.

Annual New Year's Reception for diplomats and the government has been held. A large number of the Grand Ducal Family were present at the event.  Like in the UK and in Denmark, this is a gala event with evening gowns, white tie, uniforms, tiaras, orders and national dress.

During the visit, the Luxembourgish delegation will meet with several local officials, including Egils Levits, President of the Republic of Latvia.

The Grand Duke explored Riga, the capital city known for its remarkable Art Nouveau architecture, ahead of the official start of the visit. In 1997, this unique heritage earned Riga?s historical centre a UNESCO World Heritage Site designation.

Grand Duke Henri?s cultural excursion continued at the Latvian Art Museum and a walking tour of St. Peter?s Church, a German Evangelical Lutheran Church in Latvia in the heart of old Riga. It ended with a stop at the bell tower for a stunning view.
