Royals Would Rake It In If They Rent Palaces

The Queen has been let down by her advisers who have failed to realise the money-making potential of Buckingham Palace and other royal properties, a group of MPs warned last week. Led by Labour's Margaret Hodge, the Public Accounts Committee says Her Majesty has "not been served well by the household and the Treasury".

The committee goes on to declare that a third of the buildings are below "target condition" and need urgent repair.

With parts of Buckingham Palace crumbling, boilers that are 60 years old and the roof of Windsor Castle in need of new lead, £50million is required to bring the royal estate up to scratch.

Funny how the government likes to claim ownership of the Palaces, but doesn't like to foot the build to maintain them. :shrug:
