I was afraid this would go by the wayside this year, but sending by post is brilliant. Since the money is specially minted it wouldn't do to hold it over until next year. I wonder how they determine who gets the little bags.

By the way, forgot this article, which reports that among the small crowd gathered to watch the Queen open the Scottish Parliament boos were heard as the monarch was driven away. I saw a video of the event in which the boos were clearly heard, but it was a Lipstick Alley video (with a report by RR Rhiannon for Sky TV on the event. She mentioned the divided crowd but not the booing) so can?t link it here. However it?s also mentioned here. The BRF attendance at Scotland?s political events are becoming increasingly unpopular anyway.

More on QEII's first engagement since she was hospitalized.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/queen-elizabeth-official-duties-hospital-1.6225119

QuoteQueen Elizabeth carried out her first official engagement on Tuesday since spending a night in hospital and being ordered to rest by her doctors.

The 95-year-old queen, the world's oldest and longest-reigning monarch, stayed overnight at London's King Edward VII private hospital last Wednesday after undergoing "preliminary investigations" for an unspecified but not COVID-19-related ailment.

It was Elizabeth's first overnight hospital stay in years, but royal officials said she was in good spirits and she returned to her Windsor Castle home the following day where she got back to carrying out light duties.

On Tuesday, she carried out two virtual audiences to welcome the new ambassadors to Britain from South Korea and Switzerland. Pictures showed the monarch, wearing a yellow dress, smiling and looking her usual self during the engagement.

While I am pleased that modern technology will be assisting HM with her duties: PM meetings, recorded speeches and virtual engagements, I do believe that we'll see her family members stepping in more frequently with Investitures as they do require standing for a long period of time. Currently there are four BRF members who conduct investitures: QEII, PoW, DoCam and PR.  Once Charles' reign begins, he might have his younger brother Edward step up to handle investitures too if he wants three others on the "I team."

A message of condolence from Her Majesty The Queen on the passing of Archbishop Desmond Tutu
Published 26 December 2021
I am joined by the whole Royal Family in being deeply saddened by the news of the death of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, a man who tirelessly championed human rights in South Africa and across the world.

"I remember with fondness my meetings with him and his great warmth and humour.

"Archbishop Tutu's loss will be felt by the people of South Africa, and by so many people in Great Britain, Northern Ireland and across the Commonwealth, where he was held in such high affection and esteem.

Personally , I have never had an issue with Queen Cams.  But I realize that many do.   But maybe a change of heart knowing that QE approves?

What a treat to see those updated photos, personal items and the display of chocolates.  Of course the DM had a "couple of errors."
1. Zara and Mike do not have any grandchildren as of yet so Lena is their daughter, not their granddaughter.
2. Louise is the Queen's youngest granddaughter, not one of the great-grandchildren.

QuoteHer rule has now reached 70 years and 126 days, equalling the reign of King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand.

Elizabeth II became Queen on February 6th 1952. On September 9th 2015, she became the longest reigning monarch in British history, overtaking the record set by her great, great grandmother, Queen Victoria.

Bhumibol Adulyadej ruled Thailand from November 9th June 1946 until October 13th 2016.

The Queen has to wait for another two years until she becomes the longest reigning monarch of all time, surpassing the reign of King Louis XIV of France which ran from May 14th 1643 until September 1st 1715 ? a total of 72 years and 110 days.

All being well, Her Majesty will overtake this milestone in May 2024 aged 98.

I am hoping that HM lives as long as her mother.....a very long time.  I have been a very long time fan of HM even when I think she was wrong in encouraging Charles of marry Diana and all that ensued later.  I think a huge blessing for the royal family is that William found a woman in Catherine who adapted to the way things are done in the royal family and that she came from a loving family to begin with.  I see huge changes in William since Catherine and the Cambridge Children are so blessed to have them as parents.....Catherine realizes that a  child's life is effected from early childhood on how a person develops later in life......that is so very true and I wish all babies had a loving happy upbringing yet some will miss out on that.  Early childhood development is a very important part of a child's life.  It is not 100% in all aspects of a child yet it is the most important part.  I am glad to see HM realizing how important Catherine has become to the royal family...that picture of them looking at each other with such love and devotion is priceless.

Smiling Queen stands without walking stick as she is presented with Canterbury Cross by Justin Welby | Daily Mail Online (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10938757/Smiling-Queen-stands-without-walking-stick-presented-Canterbury-Cross-Justin-Welby.html)

What is the Canterbury Cross?
QuoteThe Canterbury Cross is presented each year as part of the annual Lambeth Awards to a small number of recipients who have shown outstanding service to the church.

Previous winners of the cross include former judge's Sir Mark Hedley and Sir John Mummery, former MP Peter Bruinvels, journalist Sir Andreas Smith and retired political scientist and academic Philip Giddings.

The cross's design is inspired by a Saxon brooch which was found in Canterbury in 1867 and dates from around 850AD.

It incorporates the motif of a triquetra pattern: a three-cornered knot, symbolising the Christian Trinity, on each of its four curved arms.

The tips of the arms suggest arcs of a single circle, giving the overall effect of a round wheel.

The calligraphic citation was produced by Margot Riordan-Eva, Lambeth Palace's calligrapher, who was taught calligraphy by Benedictine nuns at school

QuoteThe Canterbury Cross for Services to the Church of England
This presentation is made to Her Majesty in her Platinum Jubilee year in recognition and gratitude for her unstinting support of her Church throughout her reign.

The Book of Common Prayer provided the following prayer on the accession of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1952:

O GOD, who providest for thy people by thy power,

and rulest over them in love:

Vouchsafe so to bless thy Servant our Queen,

that under her this nation may be wisely governed,

and thy Church may serve thee in all godly quietness;

and grant that she being devoted to thee with her whole heart,

and persevering in good works unto the end,

may, by thy guidance, come to thine everlasting kingdom;

through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord,

who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost,

ever one God, world without end.

Amen.

Throughout her reign, Her Majesty has duly upheld both the Christian religion and the Church of England in her roles as Defender of the Faith and Supreme Governor of the Church of England.

Whether in the formality of opening sessions of General Synod  or the more intimate context of her personal addresses to the nation and Commonwealth at Christmas, Her Majesty has made manifest her own deep faith and its relevance to all that she undertakes.

Her subtle understanding of the changing position of the Established Church in England has sustained and encouraged laity and clergy alike.

Her care for the unity of her people and the welfare of the least fortunate have been a constant inspiration to the whole Church.

Hers is an example of the Christian life well led.

This presentation of the Canterbury Cross is a heartfelt symbol of the love, loyalty and affection in which the Church of England holds Her Majesty and it represents the recognition and gratitude of her whole Church for her seventy years of unstinting service.

QuoteThe Queen has sent a message of congratulations to England?s new football champions as the Lionesses claimed the Women?s Euros at Wembley.

Just moments after the Duke of Cambridge had presented the UEFA trophy to captain Leah Williamson, Her Majesty told the team they had set an example that would last for generations and they should be very proud of themselves.

The full message from The Queen read:

?My warmest congratulations, and those of my family, go to you all on winning the European Women?s Football Championships. It is a significant achievement for the entire team, including your support staff.

The Championships and your performance in them have rightly won praise. However, your success goes far beyond the trophy you have so deservedly earned. You have all set an example that will be an inspiration for girls and women today, and for future generations. It is my hope that you will be as proud of the impact you have had on your sport as you are of the result today.?

It was signed ?Elizabeth R?.

England won the Euros 2-1 in extra time. It?s the first major football trophy for England since 1966 when the men?s team won the World Cup.

QuoteThe Queen has officially begun her annual stay at Balmoral Castle this week following a change in arrival that saw the traditional welcoming ceremony held behind closed doors for the first time.

The Queen traditionally inspects a guard of honour from the Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland at a ceremony outside the castle gates while pipers play and the public welcomes her for her annual stay, however this all happened behind closed doors to maximise The Queen?s comfort.

A source closed to The Queen reportedly told royal rota members, ?This is a change in line with events being adapted for Her Majesty?s comfort,? according to a Sky News report.

The Queen traditionally travels up to Balmoral towards the end of July, having departed this year on 21 July, and staying at the Craigowan Lodge on the estate while the main castle is still open to the public.

Once Balmoral closes to visitors, The Queen moves in and spends the month of August and part of September there before returning back to England and Windsor Castle to carry out her fall slate of duties.

It is expected that The Queen may return briefly to London when the new Prime Minister is chosen. Her Majesty is expected to travel to Buckingham Palace to receive outgoing Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, before meeting his successor and asking them to form a government. That?s set to take place in early September.

Throughout the month of August, the Royal Family are set to travel up to Balmoral to visit The Queen. Guest lists are never published, but typically photos of the family travelling to church or driving and walking on the estate are published.

Balmoral Castle has been an integral location for the Royal Family since Prince Albert purchased the property in 1852. He then commissioned a modern residence to be rebuilt from the property he purchased and the estate has been the Royal Family?s summer vacation residence since then.

Balmoral Castle is considered The Queen?s private property and is not a part of the Crown Estate.

It is quite possible that HM's being tired is long term fatigue from her bout with COVID.  There are many who have a long recovery and don't get their energy back for several months due to COVID's effects on the lungs and general health.  It comes and it goes, I have heard, and this must be frustrating  to deal with.

If I were her doctors I would certainly advise it.  It's always said that she truly relaxes up there, and the air is certainly clean and healthy - the ideal venue for renewing her energy and peace of mind.  Luckily she missed the really hot weather and hopefully will continue to do so.  I'm sure she would make time for a visit with them if she didn't have to travel.

I said that I thought the incoming PM would go to Balmoral rather than the Queen or Charles presiding at BP, in a post on the Sussex thread. It was logical. There will be a lot more of this in years to come as well, if the Queen survives to 100 with her mental and physical faculties still OK.

Personally I would rather not see her make the extra journey. I think travelling might make her uncomfortable.  Before she left for Scotland she attended some functions and seemed very upbeat, but after she got there she cancelled the usual welcome ceremony and some other things. Perhaps the trip was too much for her? However, this is so important she may just want to make the journey anyway.

Yes HM Queen Elizabeth II would survived but she is 96 years old but she nearly 100 years in four years if new PM and meet HM Queen Elizabeth II in Balmoral not London because of HM Queen Elizabeth II?s health sakes due her health and mobility issues

I hope HM stays in Scotland till the first snow flakes of the season begin to fall, what a beautiful restful place it must be...no need for the noise of humans that don't know what they are doing from one minute to the next.  Just sit by the fireplace and let life be peaceful and dreamy is what I hope she does. Me, I would bring my hot tea, a good book and my needlework and most of all my dog  and stay put till I was dragged out kicking and screaming...Balmoral to me is heaven on earth!

I would like Balmoral, though the Scottish weather is generally too cold, too bracing for me. Not fond of snow. My blood?s been thickened by too many years in a hot country!

However, a lot of visitors and family to the castle over the past 170 odd years haven?t cared for it. It?s fairly isolated, a long car drive to get anywhere near civilisation! If people aren?t fond of country pursuits there?s nothing to do.

That doesn?t apply to the Queen, of course, but until a few years ago she could go for walks, picnics, inspect her herds of cattle, go riding on her ponies etc without a care. I don?t think she?s a woman who enjoys reading a lot and being immobile. Most of her hobbies have been active ones. That?s why these past years and encroaching age have been so hard on her.

I don't pretend to know how she is feeling, but her family all say how much she loves Balmoral. I hope she is well enough to enjoy it, since it is her vacation and family is visiting.

I understand that yet I would like to think that even HM has to realize that with age our bodies change and we at times must adjust to that, even HM has adjusted as we have seen. I don't like old age as I have had to adjust somethings I can no longer do like painting my bedroom so I had to pay someone to do it......grrrrrr.  I am more a country girl with a love of winter and snow, give me a snowstorm any day of the week  as I go walking in it with my face to the heavens and I have done just that. Heat and humidity are not my cup of tea and neither is sand on a beach....walking on pine needles in a forest is more my way of enjoying life. Cleaning off sand in my home is something I never will do again. Maybe now HM could just enjoy the view of her beloved Scotland with hot tea and her dogs with her....and let everyone including the PM or whomever come to her for a change. After all she is the Queen and Elizabeth 11.

All the drama of Andrew and Harry and most of all the passing of Philip has taken a huge toll on her physically as we have seen.....let her final years be in peace and drama free and the hell with those that want to cause her trouble.  Isn't there a darn dungeon somewhere to put the troublemakers in .....

I agree and I hate to see the physical decline of HM for that is hard to face as she has been a strong woman to look up in time for me. I am of Irish and Scottish heritage and just love Balmoral because it is set with the mountains in the background with the sun shining down.  I think HM finds much peace and contentment there with loving and heartfelt memories all around and that brings some joy to her.

After all HM is the Queen and when she calls or asks then I hope everyone around her be it family or Parliament or any gov official jumps to her command....Some in her family will really live to regret the hell they have created for her in her golden years and may they suffer deeply. I have no apologies for anyone who goes out of their way to hurt another.

Yes, hearing about her most recent decline is very sad indeed. She has been a strong and enduring figure for many years, and the thought of losing that is hard to bear. I didn't know that you were of Scottish and Irish heritage and are familiar with Balmoral, known for its timeless beauty. Lucky you! I can see why it is a special place for the Queen, with so many memories combined with natural beauty. The sun is setting on one of the most notable members of the English Monarchy.

The Queen is likely to see Boris, who will probably fly to Scotland by helicopter or plane, at Balmoral. I don?t see her going down to BP though there?s an outside chance she may. While there for a short time he will, by tradition, advise her of his successor and she will farewell him. Then the successor will (probably) fly in and ?kiss hands? in introduction. (The Queen has almost certainly met him/her before, as both candidates have occupied senior positions in Cabinet.) The entire Cabinet will then be sworn in, possibly the next day, and maybe by Zoom. Can?t see them all trailing up to Balmoral en masse!) Boris may well be in the Cabinet.

In Queen Victoria?s day it was quite usual for her to be at Windsor or Balmoral for kissing hands when she grew old. King Edward VII was at Biarritz in France on one occasion during his reign and Asquith had to go there to meet him rather than interrupt the King?s holiday, so this has been done before, it?s just considered very unusual for Elizabeth. Cabinet Ministers and PM?s often hated trailing up to Balmoral in Victoria?s day. It was quite a journey to that isolated castle in those days!

I don?t think Charles making regular trips to see his very elderly mother is that unusual in the circumstances, though, in spite of the dramatic yelping of the tabloids I don?t think it?s due to a huge sudden decline in the Queen?s general health but rather her mobility issues. She probably welcomes a bit of company and they can talk over the political changes as well as family news.

Oh I might be Irish and Scottish heritage yet I have never been to Balmoral and would love to and if I ever get there I will never leave.  I collect books, pictures and all the history I can get of it. For me that is heaven on earth...and there is another place that is very close to that in England...Bebbanburg, way up north in England that there are actually rooms in the castle to rent and some cottages there to live in.  I got interested in that area from one of my favorite, authors, Bernard Cornwell. His TV series *The Last Kingdom* on Netflix is just fabulous and made me research Alfred the Great who is a man way ahead of his time....a wonderful leader who was the first to help make England what it is today, his life plan was to do that and his family followed in that direction also.  That whole area of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales is filled with so much history and so very interesting to me.

I know that HM's time is short and that is so sad as I think that all the drama of Andrew and Harry/Meghan has really affected her health as has the passing of Philip. I like Charles and he is so highly underestimated as he is a brilliant businessman who has made the Duchy of Cornwall a fabulous company that has helped thousands of people in the country.  And he is a great artist also, so he has quirks in life, tell who doesn't have quirkes in life......LOL  If I ever get back to some part of that country again I will never come back to America.

Oh there is a really fabulous show on PBS if your in America, it is called *The Queen's Garden* and a wonderful place of 39 acres that BP sits on.  What an outstanding just marvelous place it is from what I see on the TV....HM is very much involved in it even to this day.

It comes as concerns grow over her Majesty?s mobility issues

The Monarch usually attends The Highland Games, and are usually a highlight in the monarch?s calendar.

A source revealed on Saturday that the Queen is keen to attend if her health will allow it.

We have wait and see if HM Queen Elizabeth II will attend or NOT they send her children Prince Charles,Princess Anne and Earl of Wessex or Cambridges in her behalf if HM Queen Elizabeth II feeling ok for attend Braemar Games if Queen can?t we have wait and see 🙏🏻🤞🏻

Nightowl,
I will take note of Bebbanburg, and I love the idea of renting a room in the castle. I am also fascinated by the period of history in the Last Kingdom. I will look up books by Bernard Cornwell and read more about the leadership style of historical figures such as Alfred the Great. I am also in love with this region, and ancient royal history, and would also stay if I ever had the opportunity to leave the shores of America for a long period of time. I will investigate BBC documentaries, the one on the Queen's gardens sounds interesting. Thanks for all of the recommendations!

I agree. As far as the Queen is concerned, everyone is on high alert when terms like health fears are used more and more frequently. I also feel like the media has spent far too much time on the antics of Harry and Meghan. The period after the passing of Philip should have been a time of peace and reflection, instead, HMQ has had to put out one family fire after another - such as Andrew and his behavior. I am also a fan of Charles; he has quietly done his duty over many years, and he is no longer a young man. Charles has been underestimated. We will see him rise to the occasion in the near future, we may be surprised by what we see.

Here is a good book on Alfred the Great, it is *Alfred The Great, The Man who Made England* by Justin Pollard.  I found it in my research of Alfred and and it is on abebooks.com, hard copy for around $4.00 yet shipping is around $7.00 as it is coming from England.  I have used this site for decades now in my interest of ancient history...my sister and I were always competing who could find the best books on ancient history  and she had hundreds and hundreds of books. This book is one of my favorite.

I honestly believe HM's time is very short....the pictures of her on the balcony with William and his family was heartbreaking to see.  I really really dislike Harry and Meghan for they had the world at their fingertips with so many opportunities to help those in need.  Their selfishness and GREED for money and attention as great whatever will be their undoing in time and they will become just like Edward and Wallis, unknown little non royals.  I hate to say this yet I got Meghan's number as soon as I saw the pictures of the engagement in the garden....and sure enough hell broke loose a few years later....my sister was so thrilled for them and I was the opposite and I believe HM was not  all that happy either from the pictures of her at the wedding.....there was one that left a big imprint on my mind about Meghan. And sure enough Meghan as proven just the type of person she really is.   And there is NO excuse for Andrew, he is a spoiled selfish ego manic and believe me I know that type of man and I really hope Charles and William never let him back in the Firm, he made his bed so sleep in it Andrew and suffer what you have caused your mother.  Both he and Harry will in time suffer what they have done to HM and Charles and I hope it hurts like hell as I am a hard person when it comes to hurting family.

Oh yes, Charles .....I really admire the man and so many are stuck in the days of Diana as if Diana was perfect and she sure in the heck was not.  Nobody is as we are all flawed humans as the history of the human race has shown us.  I think at early in life, Charles was a weak insecure man under the thumb of his family yet now he has grown and become a strong secure man with a woman who understands him and his life where Diana did not understand him. Age difference and their interests in life was against them from the beginning.  Diana hated Balmoral and me, I would love it as isolation is no big deal for me...lol  I really hope Charles has a many many years on the throne even if he does have an opinion now and than....that makes him human to me.  I also loved Philip and his out of the mouth remarks as that showed him to be a flawed human also and boy at times I think HM would of loved to shake him and tape that mouth shut.

I wonder if HM will spend her remaining time now in Balmoral as I think that is her happy place with all the memories of family and loved ones. She sure needs peace and contentment at this time in her life, not the drama of idiots in her family. Shame on Andrew and Harry and Meghan for what they have caused her grief and pain even when Philip lay dying ..that to me is very unforgivable and will go down in history as to the kind of people they are.

If HM is in great pain that will surely weigh heavily and break down her strength, but I hope her medical care is such that she has a good comfort level as long as she doesn't overdo. I hope she is feeling better resting up there in her favorite place, but of course we don't know. I understand the POW is visiting often, which makes me concerned....I'll be watching carefully to see if she is able to go to Braemar.
As for Harry and Meghan so much has been and is being said, including by me, so I won't add to your well said post. Things are going from bad to worse in that situation...so disturbing and scary.
Thanks for mentioning the site for books on ancient history - my own interest is in ancient Wales, as I am descended from the Meyricks/Myricks of Angelsey. I'll check out the site!!!

I also think it is more worrisome when Charles visits HM more than usual in Scotland mostly.   I am sure there are docs and nurses there all day and night making sure HM is well cared for and resting....Surely there must be someway for HM to go to the games in a mobile golf cart or car and a wheelchair to get her to the stage with a cane....I look at her and 96 is up there yet her mind is still young and ready to work on the red box.

I would love to go to Wales and I have a very good ancient history book on it, it is called *Ancient Paths by Graham Robb*, I got it a long time ago on abebooks. And there is another which is fiction on Wales by Sharon Kay Penman-Here Be Dragons.  I am not sure if this is the 1st in her 3 book series yet it is great story telling and I have read and reread the entire series.  Hope this helps as I just love ancient history  and would love to live among the ruins .....LOL

What more does anyone expect of HM being 96 years old...she seems sharp as a tack and can do the mental part of her job and takes precautions with the physical part of the job, nothing wrong with that!   Heck as long as it is HM that does the appointment does it really matter where it is done..be it London or Scotland?  I would like to think that these political members can and are young enough to make the trip and enjoy the time at Balmoral of all places, who doesn't want to go there and get some good old fashioned fresh air and see green grass and tall trees....big relief from cement sidewalks with garbage and noise and traffic and people being rude....LOL

From the Telegraph

Boris Johnson will deliver his final speech as Prime Minister on the steps of Downing Street at around 8.30am on Tuesday, before flying up to Balmoral.

After an audience with the Queen, which usually lasts around half an hour, he will leave Her Majesty?s Scottish home before either Ms Truss or Mr Sunak arrive, having flown up separately.

On the return flight, the new Prime Minister will be briefed on the privileged security details they require in the role.

He or she is expected to deliver their inaugural speech back at Downing Street at around 4pm.

The incoming and outgoing leaders will not see each other at Balmoral, where they will be welcomed individually into the Drawing Room. Mr Johnson and his team will have left the Scottish estate before his successor arrives.

Each will be greeted by an equerry and Sir Edward Young, the Queen?s Private Secretary, before entering the room to speak to the Queen alone.

Their travelling entourages will be offered a separate retiring room, where they will be offered a space to work and refreshments while official matters between the Queen and the Prime Minister take place.

A photograph of the Queen and new leader is likely to be released afterwards, just as it has been for the Buckingham Palace ceremony in recent history.

Mr Johnson said arrangements for the handover to the new prime minister will be down to the Queen and ?fit totally around her and whatever she wants?.

The Queen will also hold a virtual Privy Council meeting the following day, rather than an in-person one, where the new PM will be sworn in as First Lord of the Treasury among other business.

Exactly how I predicted it would occur in a previous post here.

I am sure HM is really being taken care of with the very best medical professionals in the world yet pulling out of this event is worrisome as it is happening all to often now.  I wonder if she will ever leave Balmoral and will spend her last days/months/years there as that is where she seems the most content with all the loving memories and her trusted staff with her as her family can just come and go even ever.  How difficult would it be for her to travel back to Windsor....I wonder?  Charles it seems is taking on more and more duties and it must be very hard on him to see the decline of his mother knowing what the future holds for him.

The Queen never misses the Braemar Games! In a way IMO this is the clearest sign yet that we are sadly not likely to see very much of the Queen again for the rest of her reign. 96 year old legs, knees and hips just don?t repair themselves overnight. I?m just wondering whether there has been a fall recently weakening the Queen?s hip and that has been kept quiet. That might explain why the ?mobility problems? have prevented the use of a wheelchair.

It seems to me from hints dropped by courtiers that sitting for long periods appears to be as painful for HM as standing and shuffling about using a cane. She hasn?t been seen out at all at Balmoral and the absences at Craithie Kirk services are also noteworthy, not in a good way. I?m just wondering if HM has been confined to bed for much of the time. If she has been it will be a major operation to get her mobile enough to meet Boris and the new PM. (I?m not suggesting imminent death btw. We all know of people of 100 or more who are bedridden for much of the time but who are still able to function mentally.)

The Queen herself must be having moments when she gets very annoyed that her spirit is so strong but her body is now so weak it no longer obeys orders.

Knowing how much HM has always enjoyed the Braemar Games I was also thinking it would be a clear sign of her health. I am holding on to the possibility that she doesn't want everyone to see her difficulty walking, climbing a stair, or getting in or out of a chair, but is able to be comfortable. I know it could also be that she is uncomfortable sitting as well, which means she is never really comfortable. I'm sad and feel the same way you do.

QEII appoints  her 15th Prime Minister at Balmoral Castle.

The Queen appoints Liz Truss as her 15th Prime Minister at Balmoral ? Royal Central (https://royalcentral.co.uk/uk/queen/breaking-the-queen-appoints-liz-truss-as-the-15th-prime-minister-of-her-reign-during-an-audience-at-balmoral-180196/)

Quote

The Queen has asked Liz Truss to form a government following her election as leader of Britain?s ruling Conservative Party.

Ms Truss, who arrived at Balmoral alongside her husband, Hugh O?Leary, ?kissed hands? with the monarch and is now the Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury.

The 47-year-old politician is the 15th Prime Minister of Her Majesty?s reign, following the resignation of Boris Johnson just an hour before the appointment of Truss.

Ms Truss will now be busy formulating her cabinet before tacking the major issues plaguing the UK, including the extortionate rise in energy prices.

Liz Truss was announced as the new leader of the Conservatives on September 5th 2022 following a vote of the party?s members over the summer, triggered by Mr Johnson?s announcement that he was stepping down. She took 81,326 of the ballots cast against 60,399 for her opponent, Rishi Sunak.

It?s the first time that The Queen has appointed a new Prime Minister at her Scottish home. Buckingham Palace announced last week that Her Majesty would remain at Balmoral, rather than make an almost 1,000 mile round trip between there and London, for the meetings. Officials said it was to avoid any uncertainty.

It?s nice to see the Queen happy and smiling, with the ubiquitous handbag still over the arm. Wonder whether Liz Truss finds it all a bit surreal if exciting to now be PM. The Queen looks a bit bowed and the cane is much in evidence I see. Hope HMs legs aren?t giving her too much pain. Her 15th Prime Minister, the first being Winston Churchill of course. Queen Victoria had twenty due to some short unstable governments early on.

There are quite apparently quite a few republicans in the House of Commons and Liz Truss appears to be among their number. As a university student she called the Royal Family ?a disgrace? in a speech and claimed that many members of the public were anti-monarchy. That would be even more so now!

She has stated her views when she was a young LibDem are no longer her opinion. Liz Truss is the most conservative PM since Thatcher.

The Rt Hon Boris Johnson MP had an audience of The Queen this morning and tendered his resignation as Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury which Her Majesty was graciously pleased to accept.

Mrs Johnson was also received by The Queen.

Her Majesty received in audience the Rt Hon Elizabeth Truss MP this afternoon and requested her to form a new Administration.

The Rt Hon Elizabeth Truss MP accepted The Queen's offer and kissed hands upon her appointment as Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury.

Mr Hugh O'Leary was also received by Her Majesty.

Mr Donal McCabe was received by The Queen when Her Majesty invested him with the Insignia of a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order.

The Queen was represented by Mrs Jeanna Swan (Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Berwickshire) at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Major Andrew Trotter of Mortonhall (formerly Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Berwickshire) which was held in Duns Parish Church, Duns, today.

That?s what the British media has stated certainly, (the resemblance to Thatcher.) She?s only been in the job a day, so we?ll have to see. And often people don?t really change certain views on things as they age. That includes social issues. Politicians often find that it?s advantageous to swing in the breeze from time to time.

The Privy Council postponed yesterday to be rearranged because of BP status of the Queen?s health?

The rumors circulating before today and up until last night is to formally appoint Anne and Edward as Counselors of State replacing Andrew and Harry, including other matters that would change?it stops here, no one wants to break the news, teasing they know what it?s about.

By law, Counsellors of State include the Sovereign's spouse and the next four people in the line of succession who are over the age of 21.

Anne is 17th in line. Edward is 14th. Even Beatrice and Eugenie are ahead of them. So those spreading those rumours don?t know what they are talking about.

The rumor included the change and i.e. letters patent.  Excepting the other 53 members: politicians Commons and Lords, and COE Canterbury and York.

This report concerns Andrew (but it is also the same for Harry.

Prince Andrew: Queen Has No Power To Remove Him As Counsellor Of State (https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/ellievhall/prince-andrew-queen-counsellor-of-state-parliament-harry)

The royal family?s official website lists the Counsellors of State as Prince Charles (first in line), Prince William (second in line), Prince Harry (sixth in line), and Andrew (ninth in line). Before his death, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, also held the position (as all spouses of the sovereign do by law).

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson confirmed Andrew?s current status as a Counsellor of State to BuzzFeed News and noted that the holders of this position are determined by legislation (and thus can only be changed by an act of Parliament). A spokesperson for the prime minister?s office declined to comment.

I'm just being a messenger of the rumors which started 1.5 weeks ago before BP had announced a 'future' cc

^ The above news is Feb 2022.

The fact that the PC CAN change who and what via Letters Patent.

Objective fact that can/may happen
The Acts specifically allow the Letters Patent appointing the Counsellors of State to exclude and name.

Links to viable sources for these rumours please.

And I?m not interested in discussing rumours at this time. We will see won?t we when the next Privy Council meeting is held. And (if the Queen sadly passes) every member of her family moves up one in the succession lineup. 14th and 17th however, don?t cut it.

I'm too lazy to link the dozens of rumors.

IF not interested, you can ignore.

BUT, I have also included a objective fact that via letters patent, the counsellor of state ''who'' CAN be changed.

Probably Twitter then, not even tabloid rubbish. No broadsheet has been involved then, lol!

Yet, the Queen received her graciously and properly. She always knew where her duty lay and brought her children up accordingly.  I believe that the POW also holds those same values and I hope he is given a fair chance.

Prime Minister Liz Truss?s statement on the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

We are all devastated by the news we have just heard from Balmoral.

The death of Her Majesty The Queen is a huge shock to the nation and to the world.

Queen Elizabeth II was the rock on which modern Britain was built.

Our country has grown and flourished under her reign.

Britain is the great country it is today because of her.

She ascended the throne just after the Second World War.

She championed the development of the Commonwealth - from a small group of seven countries to a family of 56 nations spanning every continent of the world.

We are now a modern, thriving, dynamic nation.

Through thick and thin, Queen Elizabeth II provided us with the stability and the strength that we needed.

She was the very spirit of Great Britain ? and that spirit will endure.

She has been our longest-ever reigning monarch.

It is an extraordinary achievement to have presided with such dignity and grace for 70 years.

Her life of service stretched beyond most of our living memories.

In return, she was loved and admired by the people in the United Kingdom and all around the world.

She has been a personal inspiration to me and to many Britons. Her devotion to duty is an example to us all.

Earlier this week, at 96, she remained determined to carry out her duties as she appointed me as her 15th Prime Minister.

Throughout her life she has visited more than 100 countries and she has touched the lives of millions around the world.

In the difficult days ahead, we will come together with our friends?

?.across the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and the world?

?to celebrate her extraordinary lifetime of service.

It is a day of great loss, but Queen Elizabeth II leaves a great legacy.

Today the Crown passes - as it is has done for more than a thousand years - to our new monarch, our new head of state:

His Majesty King Charles III.

With the King?s family, we mourn the loss of his mother.

And as we mourn, we must come together as a people to support him.

To help him bear the awesome responsibility that he now carries for us all.

We offer him our loyalty and devotion just as his mother devoted so much to so many for so long.

And with the passing of the second Elizabethan age, we usher in a new era in the magnificent history of our great country,

? exactly as Her Majesty would have wished ?

by saying the words?

God save the King.
