Philip travelled by car to the hospital and it was not an emergency admission. He is said to have walked into the hospital unaided. A source said the illness was not Covid-related and the stay in hospital was purely precautionary.

Charles was at the hospital for a 30 minute visit. Hope the Duke is okay.

I hope so too. I know it's private, but he was a public servant, am curious to know what ailment he has.

We understand that Prince Charles has not returned to Highgrove in Gloucestershire but has instead gone to stay the night at Clarence House in St James, London.

No updates from Buckingham Palace on Duke of Edinburgh.

Clarence House has confirmed the Prince of Wales is not staying in London tonight and has returned to Highgrove.

Charles is back at Highgrove. Of course the tabloids are being their usual dramatic selves, reporting Charles having tears in his eyes as he left the hospital etc. Nevertheless, Philip being kept in for several days is not a great sign as it probably means that he's fighting a new bladder infection, something that has hospitalised him before, with all the repercussions on a 99 year old body.

The Palace is remaining silent to suppress speculation but the longer the old boy remains in hospital the more rumours of his imminent death are going to swirl. They would do better to instruct the hospital to issue a short statement saying in laymen terms exactly what Prince Philip is suffering from and that everything that can be done is being done.

My opinion is that Philip has not been particularly well for months. Nobody knows what condition he is in mentally either. He obviously felt extra seedy for days before they persuaded him into hospital. There he went through a series of tests/examinations and it was perhaps found that one of his old complaints had flared up again. It might have been a bladder infection which has been a trouble in the past.

Philip may have been extra feverish or grumpy with it and so Charles decided to visit. He wouldn't have visited if the situation hadn't changed/deteriorated a bit as Charles knew darn well that his appearance would cause speculation to rise.

The trouble is that BP are always opaque about royals' health. That is sometimes handy, but not necessarily so when it concerns a 99 year old man. 99 year olds, by the very nature of the thing, are a day by day proposition anyway.

TLLK

@Curryong-I agree and at nearly 100, I'm not surprised especially since he's had notable hospitalizations in the past ten years.

Thank you for sharing the update. Hope that he continues to respond to the treatment that he is receiving and is as comfortable as possible.

Curryong

That's what I suspected. At least he's receiving treatment and the picture is a lot clearer.
