It was interesting to learn that King George III wrote numerous letters to his son Prince William.
I knew Queen Victoria wrote numerous letters to her daughter Victoria, Empress of Germany.
Is Queen Victoria's love of letter writing a trait she inherited from Grandfather George III?

^ The middle and upper classes as a whole wrote copious letters to each other throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. By the 19th postal services had become very reliable, though royals wouldn't have needed to worry about that except in wartime if relatives lived or were serving abroad. People wrote many personal letters until the digital age of emails and texts.

Gens X and Y and Z don't write many letters at all. I often wonder what future biographers of their famous contemporaries are going to do. The published letters between Victoria and her daughter Vicky and those between Vicky's siblings give an intimate glance into their lives, opinions and character.
