In King Edward VII of England's household, evening meals in the country were more elaborate than the luncheons.
One dinner menu in 1906 at Sandringham consisted of cold consommé, salmon cutlets, stuffed ortolons, lamb in champagne, duck, chicken casserole, salad, asparagus in sauce mousseline, and four desserts and a savoury, including Pêches à la Reine Alexandra.
