QuoteIt's not everyday that you get the chance to chat to the Queen - let alone from the comfort of your living room.  John Maynard, 80, did just this when he was invited to participate in a demonstration of a new Skype-style service which was being showcased at Buckingham Palace.

The pensioner hoped that he would catch a glimpse of royalty and couldn't believe his luck when her Majesty and Prince Philip appeared on screen.

"I knew there was a chance the royals might be around and I was keeping an eye out for them," said John, from Bluron, North Staffordshire.

"Then I saw the Queen walk in and she looked at the screen.

"I said 'good afternoon your Majesty, nice to see you' and she said 'that's a very good system' and the Duke of Edinburgh looked over her shoulder and waved and I waved back.
