Crown Prince Frederik has taken on a new patronage this year as Copenhagen?s architecture takes centre stage.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and the International Association of Architects have designated Copenhagen as its World Capital of Architecture for 2023.

As patron, Crown Prince Frederik will take part in events throughout the year to celebrate Copenhagen?s architecture, starting with an opening ceremony on 17 January at Copenhagen City Hall.

Often referred to as India's 'father of the nation', Ghandi is famed for his activism in leading India to independence from the British, marked by non-violent civil disobedience.

The political and spiritual leader staged 17 hunger strikes during his long-running freedom campaign, the longest lasting 21 days.

But less than a year after he was finally able to celebrate independence from Britain in 1947, Gandhi was assassinated.

The European monarchs are on a five day visit to India on vice president Jagdeep Dhankhar's invitation.

Danish royal visit to India concludes ? Royal Central

The royals led a delegation including government ministers and 38 Danish companies.

On Sunday 26 February, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary began their visit with a visit to the07 Taj Mahal in Agra. This was their first visit to the iconic UNESCO World Heritage Site, and they received a tour before posing for photographs on a white marble bench in the foreground. Afterwards, they visited the Agra Fort and received a tour of the area.

In a speech a few days later, Crown Prince Frederik would call the Taj Mahal ?a magnificent monument and symbol of India,? and vowed ?I hope one day I will be able to show to our children.?

The official programme began in earnest the next day in the capital city of New Delhi. Their first engagement was to meet with India?s Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, who previously visited Denmark in 2021.

Afterwards, they laid a wreath in memory of Mahatma Gandhi, who was assassinated 75 years ago. They lunched with Indian Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and officially opened an exhibition on silver at the National Museum.

The exhibit, Silver Treasures from Denmark and India, showcases over 200 pieces of silver from the respective countries while exploring silversmithing and the craftsmanship of artisans. According to the Danish Royal Court, the National Museum and the Kolding Museum partnered on the exhibition as part of a commitment to strengthening the cultural exchange between the countries.

Finally, the Crown Prince and Princess attended a Grand Dinner for all participating Danish government ministers and businesses, as well as guests chosen specifically by the business leaders.

She first took part in the Gender Diversity Roundtable at UN City in Copenhagen to discuss diversity, equality, and inclusion in times of change and digitalization.Afterward, Crown Princess Mary attended Aalborg University?s International Women?s Day 'Is the fight fair?' event. The event focused on inequality in the labor market, the paradox of equality, and the value of women.

Crown Prince Frederik participates in traditional military parade ? Royal Central

Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark has taken part in the Royal Life Guards Parade in Copenhagen, attending on behalf of Queen Margrethe.

The Queen of Denmark continues to recuperate after recent surgery.

The parade took place, according to tradition, on the exercise ground at the Lifeguard?s Barracks in Copenhagen.

During the parade, the Crown Prince bestowed the ?Queen?s Watch? upon a guardsman at the Life Guards Barracks in Copenhagen. During the Clock Parade, Guardsman Mads Karreb?k Mortensen was honoured with the ?Queen?s Watch? by the Crown Prince, in recognition of his outstanding service during his tenure with the Guard Company.

At the conclusion of their service, the Guard Company selects the Guardsman who has exemplified both exceptional service as a soldier and demonstrated camaraderie, to be bestowed with the prestigious ?Queen?s Watch? award. The Guardsman is chosen by their superiors and peers, who place great emphasis on these attributes during the selection process.

The tradition of presenting the watch has been in place since 1970, when it was introduced to commemorate Frederik IX?s 70th birthday. Following the change in monarch in 1972, the watch was renamed ?The Queen?s Watch?, and Her Majesty has since carried on the practice.

As he continues to act as regent following his mother?s recent back surgery, Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark attended the consecration of a new bishop.

On Palm Sunday, 2 April, the heir to the Danish throne travelled to Odense, west of Copenhagen, to watch as Mads Davidsen was made a Bishop for the Diocese of Funen.

The service took place in Odense?s Cathedral, and the Crown Prince was photographed entering and exiting the church, as well as sitting in the front row for the duration of the service.
