Master John the painter appears to be quite a mysterious figure. He was certainly well regarded to have remained in Court circles for quite a long time. However, in general English artists weren?t particularly valued at that time, or indeed earlier.

When it came to the topic of Ladies and King Henry VIII, it is usually noted he had six wives. However, why are not his morhers-in-law mentioned?

Probably because not very much is known about most of them, with the exception of Katherine of Aragon and Anne of Cleves? mothers. There are just snippets of information that has come down to us otherwise, that may or may not be accurate. Birthdates, time of marriages, how many of their children were born, grew to adulthood, and sometimes even that is unknown.
Daughters, even of nobility, just weren?t regarded as that important, unless they made an absolutely brilliant marriage, which most didn?t. Look at Katherine Howard?s mother! And modern susceptibilities would regard as ?scheming? what most aristo parents in the 16th century would regard as setting their children up for future good marriages.

King Henry VII of England intended his younger son Prince Henry to "take the oath".
It was not uncommon to put an extra son into the church. It was a place to secure a good education.
