I've been suffering from mild pneumonia and today I've also tested positive for Covid-19.

I am deeply saddened to be missing the historic celebration of Her Majesty's #PlatinumJubilee

I will be praying for The Queen and for us all.

It?s a beautiful piece of jewellery, but for heaven?s sake, what on earth was that vain old tart George IV thinking of when he commissioned it for his Coronation in 1820? Of course fashions change over the centuries but I think it?s worth noting that this well known refashioned diadem has only ever since been worn by Queens regnant and consort. Thank goodness 1820 was before the age of photography or we would have an image for ever more of a King wearing a mini tiara on his brow!

:laugh: Vain old tart is the perfect description for Prinny! Has any King worn it since his Reign? It is wonderful for Victoria or QEII but I can't see any male wanting to wear the George IV Diadem .

No King has worn it since. His brother William IV, ?Sailor Bill? said ?No thanks? and so did every male sovereign since. I really can?t imagine the Queen?s father or grandfather popping it on, can you? Apparently it was extensively refurbished for Queens Alexandra and Mary. George though, loved the bling and those special touches for his Coronation like herbswomen dropping rose petals in front of him as he walked up the aisle at WA!

I wouldn't be surprised if they've tried it on in private, but I doubt they'd dare to wear it in public. LOL! Now which George requested the rose petals?

Sorry, it was George IV. Medievalism was in vogue in the 19th century (all those Gothic buildings and furniture) and so he decided to bring back the rose petals, as he believed they had been similarly strewn in the Coronations of medieval Kings. No idea whether that was true or not, though!

Martin is primarily in London to promote the company he works with. It would have been more truthful if this tabloid had headlined what he was really in London for, but tabloids specialise in deceit and untruths. There were no official announcements from anyone, and in fact the article states ?it is expected that Daniel Martin will?(?do Meghan?s makeup?. So in other words the paper is speculating.

Where was I in every year of Elizabeth IIs life and reign?

Well, a few months before I was born at the end of 1946 Princess Elizabeth had left the armed forces she had been placed in during WW2 and was performing duties like this one with her family.

In 1952 when her father died while she was on tour in Kenya I was in primary school.
In 1953 when she was crowned my mum and I watched the Coronation in black and white on a tiny TV screen which was surrounded and dwarfed by an enormous oak cabinet. At school we were given Coronation mugs, cups and saucers and there were street parties.

When Elizabeth celebrated her Silver Jubliee in 1978 I was already here in Australia with two very young children and about to have my third.
