Title: The Late QEII and the late DoE birthdays, anniversaries and personal milestones
Post by: PrincessOfPeace on April 18, 2020, 11:33:36 AM
It has been decided not to have the ceremonial salute due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

A Palace source said: Her Majesty was keen that no special measures were put in place to allow gun salutes as she did not feel it appropriate in the current circumstances.

I wonder if the 3 households and the non royal workers feel they could also notify the press that they had a zoom video with the Queen.  Sunshine Sach is the Sussex's communications team, they need not to ask permission or coordinate with the Monarch/POW/Cambridge's what goes. It's just a birthday, but there seems to be a special treatment with Harry and Meghan.

I wonder how he spends his time. I know he still likes to read, but he was always so active. He probably wishes he was back at Woods Farm checking on his truffles, or perhaps starting another interesting project. I suspect he is ok mentally, since he took to the air waves to express thanks to the medical heroes....and that was before everyone else did. As you know, he rarely speaks out. I hope he can drive a carriage again when this is over.

While most of the RIF members are familiar with the life of the late Duke of Edinburgh, here's an overview of his life on the centenary of his birth. Remembering Prince Philip on the 100th anniversary of his birth ? Royal Central (https://royalcentral.co.uk/uk/philip/remembering-prince-philip-on-the-100th-anniversary-of-his-birth-161447/)

QuoteThe Duke of Edinburgh was one of the towering figures of British royal history. For over seven decades, he was at the forefront of royal life. He became the longest serving consort in British history, just one of several royal records attained during his long life. However, it was his ability to shape an ill defined role to his own suiting and his passion for a wide range of causes that became his legacy. His loss leaves a huge gap in the House of Windsor.

I like the fact that a rose was named after Prince Philip.
I checked sources and recalled that there had been a Duke of Edinburgh Rose introduced in the United Kingdom in 1868. It was named after Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh.

Until 1986 and the retirement of her horse "Burmese", The Queen rode in her annual birthday parade.

Since then, she's used a carriage. Burmese was a gift from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1969 & became her royal steed for 18 years.

I can actually remember the Queen riding Burmese. In Britain and the realms all cinemas ran the same short colour clip of the Queen at the Trooping of the Colour ceremony on her official birthday, for a couple of decades after she came to the Throne. She was on horseback for it in those days and took the salute. Burmese was especially famous.

Everybody was supposed to stand as they played the National Anthem to accompany it, God Save the Queen, in Britain and in Australia anyway. It finished cinema performances for the day every day. My ex as a young boy was at a cinema with a mate when he was told off by the cinema manager for not standing.

No public events to mark the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II?s death ? Royal Central (https://royalcentral.co.uk/uk/no-public-events-to-mark-the-anniversary-of-queen-elizabeth-iis-death-192021/)

QuoteAs the first anniversary of her death nears, a spokesperson for King Charles III has announced that there will be no public tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II on 8 September.

The government is not planning any public events to mark the occasion, and a permanent tribute is still in the early phases and will not be ready in time for the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II?s death.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson has confirmed that King Charles and Queen Camilla will mark the day ?quietly and privately,? following a tradition set by Her Late Majesty.

The King is expected to be in Scotland through to the anniversary on the Balmoral Castle estate in Aberdeenshire. King Charles?s private home, Birkhall, is in the grounds of the estate.

So the Sun newspaper was talking out of its behind again as usual. The entire RF beside the Sussexes who are barred are going to gather together for special events and a service to mark the one year anniversary of the late Queen?s death they crowed. No, Lies and lies and lies.

There?s an open invitation to the Sussexes to go to Balmoral, according to Rebecca English. They are not barred. The rest of the family aren?t gathering to mark the sad anniversary of the death, contrary to what the Sun announced, and King Charles isn?t doing anything to mark it as they said he was going to. Instead, like his mother, remembering her father at Sandringham every Feb Charles (and Camilla) will be quietly staying at home at Birkhall.

If journalists at tabloids like the Sun were paid for each article that they wrote that was proved accurate and truthful, the majority of the so called journalists would be sitting with begging bowls on the street at the end of each month!

The couple have trashed H family, an open invitation to attend then not be spoken any kind of significant conversation just to be sold to the highest US bidder - lies, recollections may vary and what not, plus their poor behaviour of taking videos and pictures inside property breaking society rules of asking permission to the host if it's okay to take them, sell it, etc.

ETA: We shall see IF the anniversary will be done both publicly and privately. Whichever way, IMO at least Harry should receive an invite, M no - her pressuring behaviour towards a weak Husband insisting on going to HMQEII deathbed is unacceptable, other than my above paragraph comment.  I am 100% sure she'd create a soap opera and drama.

The above in bold (my comment) and Lady C says nobody in the family want to be in the same room.  The Open invitation does exist - always to everyone.  Apparently full house, cousins of Charles some will, others won't due to fragile age/health. She says there will be something private in ref. to HMQEII anniversary.

Palace source denies that the Sussexes were disinvited to any memorial ceremony or commemoration. In fact they state that the Sun?s report is ?inaccurate?. They also deny that any such ceremony is planned.

Buckingham Palace Addresses Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's "Snub" From Queen's Memorial (https://www.harpersbazaar.com/celebrity/latest/a44735510/buckingham-palace-source-meghan-harry-queen-elizabeth-memorial/)

A source at Buckingham Palace denies a British tabloid?s claim that Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan were not invited to a royal memorial marking one year since the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Sun alleged today that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were ?snubbed? from a royal family event paying tribute to the late monarch, who died at 96 years old last September.

The tabloid reported that there was no ?outreach? between senior members of the royal family and the Sussexes, though Harry and Meghan will be in Europe next month for the 2023 Invictus Games. The outlet additionally claimed that disgraced Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, would be among those guests invited to the memorial.

However, a palace source tells Bazaar.com that those rumors are ?inaccurate.?

?[There are] no plans for any public event?or indeed for any private family gathering?to mark the anniversary,? the source says. ?Reports today suggesting otherwise are inaccurate.?

Between Harpers Bazar non royal reporter to The Sun's yes royal reporter (like it or not, but he is in the rota)...let's see what happens. BUT I do feel there will be something ''private''.

Anyway why would the Sussexes want to go? and be surrounded by people they trashed? at Balmoral? where the allegedly dislike so much.

I didn?t say they would want to go. However tabloids like the Sun printing shady stories about ?snubs? and ?no invites? to non existent ceremonies just make their journalists look like idiots when a Palace spokesperson comes out and denies their lies. And Harpers Bazaar went to the source and asked.

Well, a Palace spokesman said the exact opposite only a day ago. So the Express is copying and pasting from the Sun as tabloids often do.

And another Palace  spokesman said last week that Charles and Camilla will be celebrating the one year anniversary day quietly at Birkhall, just as the late Queen did on the anniversary of her father?s death at Sandringham.

Meanwhile Harry and his cousins Beatrice and Eugenie are regularly in touch and talk often.

I agree 1,000% with your comments and least we forget that *Horrible courtesy of Megan making fun of HM* while sitting on her sofa. HM showed her country love, loyalty, kindness, she kept her word and Megan knows nothing about being a decent human being with any of those characters that make a decent human being.  Meghan to me is very insecure for she is always wanting to be first to be seen even putting Harry behind her when she met the king of Morocco. Being insecure shows that a person has to always put themselves first ahead of others.......

Yes, the Express knows everything! In fact their royal correspondents are with members of the RF day and night, in fact have meals with them, spend afternoons chatting and tuck up in bed with them at night, lol!

They?re a tabloid, nothing more nothing less. And everybody in Britain knows that tabloids make things up about royals and people in the public eye when there?s no gossip from underlings to be had. Nobody believes half their rubbish!

As for ?sold his soul? about Harry that was a quote from one person, Phil Dampier. This is what Phil Dampier (that supreme royal authority, what a laugh!) says in this very article about the Coronation.

?Mr Dampier, a respected royal authority, added: ?Up until this point I thought Charles would invite Harry to his Coronation, but I personally think he has now crossed a line and the time has surely come for him to take action.? End Quote.
Er, Mr Dampier, Your Royal Knowing Nothingness, Harry was a guest, present at his father?s Coronation. So much for his inside knowledge!

Regardless of what any tabloid or media have said about the Sussex's, it is WHAT THEY DID, their actions, their behavior, their lying, their bad mouthing the royal family and the very country Harry was born into as a British Royal Prince.  not everything is about what the tabloids have said or done.  It came from their mouths, their statements, their interviews, their reality show, the book, decisions to go out into the world and mouth off HATE that has shocked people still.

That *Curtsey* that Meghan did was so disgusting that it made her look like a stupid fool, does anyone really think that makes Meghan look good or show what a decent woman she is  to a 96 year old  woman? Make fun of an 96 year old woman it shows her TRUE CHARACTER. Who in their right mind does that to a woman who welcomed her into the family, gave them a wedding of their dreams, and continued to give till they RAN AWAY to another country.  Harry is a spoiled brat, full of his own importance without a thought to anyone but himself.

Their actions is the highest form of *BETRAYAL*  to a family and country I have ever seen. And  Harry sat there and did nothing but smirk.........he is a total loser.

There IS no GOING back for who would ever trust them again.

Yes that is Phil Dampier's opinion of what Harry did, and yes when looking at the situation that is just what Harry did, he SOLD  his soul for MONEY, no taking that back either for those were Harry's decisions for the world to see.

As far as the Coronation goes, just what kind of guest was Harry, he sat with some family yet who buddies up to him there?  Maybe there was some small talk about nothing that he would take back to Ca or put in a book or another TV interview for who would ever trust him again. He looked totally miserable, like he wanted to be elsewhere and he should of just stayed in Ca for all the good it did him.  He is a total outcast now even if the York girls talk to him for they also have to be very careful what they say to him....*when a person gossips about someone the funny thing is that it always comes back, so be careful what you wish for*

It's a game of when is it 'enough' to not invite the duo to anything.

There is a factual social media tendency from the Sussexsquad that the BRF ''have to'' keep on inviting, being graceful, be above whatever the Sussexes say or do. If not invited, the squad goes angry against the mainstream media - author, if invited the squad relaxes because the royal attachment is still there to merchandise. This is the pattern since Megxit.

I am not and never have been a member of the SussexSquad so those observations do not relate to me. I have been a poster on RIF since 2014, long before Harry married Meghan, and I have NEVER been an admirer of the tabloid media in my adult life. My posts here before Harry met Meghan clearly reflect that.

And as for Harry and his relationship with his birth family, what would you have had the late Queen and Charles do? The RF isn?t just the Firm or a business. He was and remains a grandson and a son, one of the only two Charles has. His children are Charles?s grandchildren and the late Queen?s great-grandchildren. In other words, blood relatives, with the emphasis on blood.

To cast Harry and his family out for ever and never invite them again to any royal or family occasions may satisfy the many rabid anti Sussex squads around, and there are plenty online believe me, and ones that have been there since 2016, long before Meghan joined the RF. However, would never seeing his son again bring joy and satisfaction to Charles? I doubt it very very much.

And if such a campaign were to be established the tabloids would almost certainly rejoice. However, sooner or later, there would be murmerings among the media and the public about a father exiling one of his two sons so completely from his life. Stories would begin to appear about double standards, unfairness with the treatment with Andrew after his actions, about huge schisms in a family that is supposed to set an example to the country, about the ruthlessness of banishment for ever for a son, his wife and his children.

And apart from the King?s actual feelings about the son he still loves and cherishes I believe, the Palace and its PR is always acutely aware of that possibility. So in my opinion there won?t be public snubs and there won?t be withdrawals of invitations from the Palace in the future. And imo there are hopes of some sort of reconciliation between father and son in years to come.

Yes, Diana was fantastic. I recollect first seeing a couple of photos in the Press when Charles was first discreetly dating her around the summer of 1980, I think it was. I began being interested in watching royals back in my childhood. I remember Anne at Sandringham, near where we lived, in a blue coat and marching bonnet-like hat. And white socks with black strapped shoes. She was quite young then, about six I suppose, but I have such a clear image of that day.. And we (my family) knew someone who taught Charles how to catch eels on the Norfolk Broads and took him out on boats there when he was around that age too I guess, perhaps a bit older, maybe seven.

BLOOD does not make a family loyalty at all.  A person can be born into a family yet can and turn on the the family when I things don't go their way.......we all have seen Harry and Meghan turn on the royal family with hate and revenge and it is not all because of the tabloids turning against them, did the royal family toss them in the dudgeon, maybe leave them in the poor house, stop all the perks and the money from the family, shun them from all family events........what is their damm problem?  Harry has shown  his jealousy of William for a long time now.........Harry is so full of his own crap he can't see or talk straight anymore. His jealousy is eating away his very life that he so called wanted.  Meghan is looking  for her fame in being first in line with everything she does.....the best in her mind is money, high fashion, friends who are on her side helping her get where she wants to be in life.

Believe me, I know all about the evils of family blood and how it changes family dynamics first hand.

It really doesn't matter blood or not, if the Duke of Sussex ever goes to a family gathering, nobody will talk and if there is talk it will be about the weather.

I truly believe that the former working royals ie: the Duchess of Kent,  the Duke of York and the Sussexes do receive invitations to private family events so there's likely an open invitation to Sandringham and Balmoral. We certainly know that they receive invitations to those events that are public such as KCIII's coronation. It's up to the individuals to decide if they want to attend.

Now as to the reception that they would receive from their family members, well that will depend on the individual too. I can understand if there are family members who are reluctant to engage with Andrew, Harry and Meghan.

How do you explain the Sussexes invitation to the Coronation, then? The Harry book, Spare, and the Netflix documentary came out months before Charles?s Coronation in May. Yet in May there was Harry sitting in WA for the Coronation, and a place was laid for him at the family lunch at BP afterwards though he chose not to attend but to fly home to his family.

If your theory held any water then Harry (and wife) would have been banned from both those things, but they weren?t. So Charles doesn?t ban them from his crowning but waits months until August/September to ban them from family gatherings at Balmoral?

That makes no sense at all, especially as a Palace spokesman has come out and said specifically that the King and Camilla will be commemorating the late Queen?s death privately at Birkhall and no event is planned for the anniversary of Elizabeth IIs death at all by the family on that day. So how can Harry be banned from something that isn?t going to happen? Answer. He isn?t.

Yes Harry admit tell all interview include Netflix last December 2022 and his book memoir the Spare last January definitely bombshell in the book make embarrassing King Charles,Prince of Wales, his own member of the Royal family and lots of mores but Palace kept silent since Netflix and memoir wont mention about that

But Harry went Westminster Abbey for his father?s coronation last May 6 without Meghan that same day of Archie?s birthday after coronation Harry fly home for Archie?s birthday but Harry cant part for pictures and lunch due he no longer members of the royal due Harry stripped HRH by late Queen Elizabeth

Harry cant attend to Balmoral for Queen Elizabeth?s one year anniversary of her death per King Charles,Prince of Wales,Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace due Harry and Meghan?s drama for month, weeks and years insult the royal family but King Charles invite members of the family include Princess Anne,Duke of Edinburgh and disgrace Duke of York on remember of their one years anniversary death of the Queen Elizabeth

The Prince and Princess of Wales will lead the tributes to the late Queen on the first anniversary of her death.

They are to deliver a public message honouring the life and legacy of the monarch, who died on September 8. William and Kate will also use the occasion to 'look forward', a source said. But the King will mark the anniversary ''quietly and privately'' at Balmoral in Scotland where she died aged 96.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle will honor late Queen Elizabeth II ''in their own way'' after Balmoral snub
By Leah Bitsky
August 8, 2023 10:12am

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle plan on honoring the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's death ''in their own way'' after not making the invitation list for the royal family's forthcoming Balmoral Castle gathering.

''They will of course acknowledge and pay their respects to Her Majesty in their own way,'' a source with direct knowledge tells Page Six exclusively while confirming that the couple ''haven't received any information or invitation to plans marking the anniversary of her death.''

However, the insider notes that the memorial at the Scottish estate is not a formal royal event.

''I know the palace has said nothing official is happening, ''the source shares, adding that honoring the late Queen is very ''personal.''

Oh yes, so Page Six is still going with the media ?snub? line that they?ve no doubt copied and pasted from the Sun. A snub for an event that isn?t happening. Very clever. So when the late Queen celebrated the anniversary of her father?s death at Sandringham quietly in Feb 1953, the rest of the family that weren?t there at Sandringham including his mother and three surviving siblings, were all being snubbed, were they?

I would believe there is a snub if there were going to be huge family events celebrated at Balmoral this summer followed by an elaborate memorial service at St Giles in Edinburgh. But there isn?t. And in fact the King has this year extended the tourist viewing season at the estate. That?s how important the holiday is to him, lol.

The family will drift up there in dries and drabs like they usually do, and the anniversary will be spent privately with everybody quietly remembering in their own way, as is usual with the BRF. The British tabloids are so anxious that Harry and Meghan are to be snubbed and ignored and rolled in the dust by Harry?s family that journalists employed there would burst a gasket each if Harry were to turn up.

He won?t. Balmoral had bad memories for him after his mother died and when he was single and adult he avoided the place like the plague. So why the British media expect him to be grinding his teeth over not going to Balmoral is an absolute mystery!

The couple made a brouhaha about going to Balmoral to the Queen's deathbed. Minute by minute reporting of their soap opera, just to end up (Harry) going in the evening in a Commercial flight.

Crazy behaviour - the me me me and only me think tank is strong.

Let's just make the opposing news about Balmoral with one more, shall we

Neil Sean today said that the couple were invited, M stated her conditions: stay at Windsor Castle, take a Helicopter for the day at Balmoral, back to Windsor Castle late afternoon or early next morning.  :teehee:

I?m not going to repeat again and again what I think of Neil Sean, Lady C and the rest of the crew and their gossip. Just one observation. Why would Meghan wish to stay at Windsor Castle when she and Harry were ensconced at the time in their comfy home (not then packed away) at Frogmore Cottage, six minutes away from the Castle? That alone makes Sean?s story nonsense.

If they did get an invite they probably wouldn't go anyhow as we all know Harry does not like Balmoral, Im my opinion I think it is for those that are working royals regardless of who is going.

As a parent you can love your children deeply till the moon stops shining yet you do not have to *LIKE* their actions and behavior at times, nor up with their behavior either.

And if they did go, just what would happen, most everyone in the royal family would keep a distance and mot talk about anything important for fear it would be in a book, a TV interview or whatever as Harry and Meghan Broke the TRUST of the family.  The Sussex's *BETRAYED* Harry's family TOTALLY, why are some people having a hard time understanding that?  A  decent person does not do that to a family what they did........... :fuming:

Sorry but your implication from your statement which I quoted and replied to in my last post was that it was your understanding  ?. that it was working royals who will be at Balmoral.

In fact most of the family members who trail up to Balmoral each year are NOT working royals. Some, the Tindalls, the Phillips, and Prss Margaret?s daughter are not only non working royals but not royals at all. And Andrew is not a working royal and yet will be there, as will Fergie, not working, not royal. And Bea and Eugenie are non-working royals. All of the above are expected to make an appearance at Balmoral at some point in the summer/early autumn.

If attendance at Balmoral means only working royals allowed then it would only be a gathering of the Wales, Anne without her husband and adult children, and the Edinburghs. The Kents and Gloucesters etc go irregularly to Balmoral.

The Queen had a unique connection with St David's Cathedral.

Since the early 1500s, one of the Quire Stalls has been in the possession of the Crown - named the Sovereign's Stall. And as Sovereign, the late Queen held the First Canon Cursal Stall in the Quire among the Cathedral Chapter, and she took her place there on some of her four visits to the Cathedral.

She was also the first monarch to visit the Cathedral since the Reformation.

It?s good that a memorial service will be held to mark the late Queen?s passing. However, I?m genuinely puzzled as to why St David?s Cathedral in Wales should be chosen for this event.

The Queen of course was never Princess of Wales though that title was briefly considered for her in her late teens and rejected.

The Queen and PP didn?t visit Wales to any great extent any more than other parts of GB other than Scotland, and certainly didn?t for rest and relaxation purposes. Indeed if that was any criteria, then Scotland would win hands down. And if the late Queen had any special links with St David?s other than visiting it four times in 70 years, then I don?t know of them.

If it perhaps to push the Pr and Prss of Wales?s link to Wales (and they haven?t really got one) then it?s rather odd that this occasion should be chosen to do so.

The last two yougov polls about the POW's/Wales is favorable, the first was conducted in September 2022 requested by the University of Cardiff, the second by several media outlets. Both requests were done by Yougov.  70% want the POW's to be POW, title, but with no investiture. Catherine out of all the royals is the most popular.

ETA: The methodology was done only for citizens of Wales in both surveys.

Yes, but my last post was about my puzzlement that a visit on the day of the anniversary of the Queen?s death should be held in a cathedral she rarely visited in a principality Elizabeth had no real links with, not whether William and Kate are popular or not. It wasn?t even that her father George VI had once been POW so there was that link. I?m sure Elizabeth thought well of Wales, but her heart imo was in Scotland where she had many good and relaxing times and happy memories.

Anyway, I?ve got the answer to why this visit will include St David?s. Kate and William have some outings/engagements in the Principality and therefore the Cathedral has been tagged on to those, or the other way round. I suspect the duties had been pencilled in and the Cathedral was an afterthought.

Charles on the other hand is in the land both he and his mother felt at home in on an estate they love(d). In September and in future years he and some of the late Queen?s family will be at Balmoral. I doubt Wales will be in the picture next year.

I'm glad that the Wales will be present at this service for HLM QEII. I wonder if there are plans for the Edinburghs, the Princess Royal/V-A Timothy Laurence, Gloucesters and the Duke of Kent/Princess Alexandra of Kent to be at different services that day? We already know that the King and Queen will be observing the day quietly.

During HMQEII lifetime, she made more than 300 visits to Wales.

The POW's will be visiting Wales to all corners and many times over.

History of Wales Cathedrals

There are only 6 medieval cathedrals in Wales, and of the 6, one occupies an undisputable pre-eminent status; St. David's, with its links to David, patron saint of Wales, is the Welsh "Westminster Abbey"

The late Queen lived to be 97, so it?s hardly surprising that she paid some visits over the border. I didn?t say that the Queen never visited Wales. I wrote that she did not have strong links to it as she did to Scotland. She didn?t have a house there for instance. Nowhere she spent loads of time. And in fact, now Charles has got rid of his modest home there the RF have no homes in the Principality that they spend time in.

And I know about St David?s history. I?ve visited the cathedral actually and it?s charming, though hardly a WA. Have William and Kate ever visited? After all, William was a son of the POW until he was nearly 40.

Wales is part of the United Kingdom, of course the Queen visited it 300+ times.

The POW's Duchy of Cornwall has Restormel, it's for let all year round because the new incumbent, William has decided that every time he/they go - to help the economy - he/team will stay at hotels all over the country up and down Wales, which was taken by their citizens very happily, all 100% from hotel to food and beverage, forget the supermarket, forget the cook, forget staying at Restormel.  The couple are and will be visiting Wales a lot of times to earn the trust of it's citizens. Source: Prince William

Other sources, Historians:  Prince William will not visit any of the realms until the King does for the first time as King (include here the possibility of W going this past days to AU, the historians - all of them - said no, impossible and explained away), the non realms but commonwealth are being prepared - there is a 5 to 10 year plan, 74 years old to 84 years old.  All international visits will be by order of importance tied to HM Foreign and Trade offices.

Do you seriously think I don?t know that Wales is part of the UK? Even though I visited there as a child, teen and as an adult? !!!! Lol !!! Lol, !!!  Or that the FO arranges trips overseas for the RF? Er Hallo! It?s been that way since about 1945!

And people can visit a country and stay in hotels hundreds and indeed thousands of times in their lifetime, and still not be part of it in their hearts. Wales is part of the family business, not a place the royals all gravitate to of their own accord. Does William speak Welsh? Does Kate? And Charles regards the Welsh language of such importance that he?s forgotten what he knew of it in University, and now only remembers a sentence or two (of greeting.) That?s how important he regards it, and the Gaelic of Scotland as well!

As for Charles and or the Waleses visiting the realms it doesn?t really matter whether they do or don?t, or how many five or ten year plans the King and his advisers formulate. This is the 21st century. Those realms that are large enough to break away will do so by the will of their leaders, politicians and citizens, not because of what the royal family wish and don?t wish, want and don?t want to happen.

Those realms that are not specks on the map are all independent countries. They will decide their own destiny. Not Charles, not William, not the British FO, not the British Dept of Trade, not the Commonwealth Secretariat. And the temper of all these realms is towards having their own HOS not towards clinging to the monarchy for ten, twenty, forty, fifty, the next hundred years. And whether William wants to visit then before his father or after him or not at all, won?t matter a scrap then.

As for the importance of the Commonwealth to Charles it?s notable that his first overseas visit will be to France (and a State visit at that) not to any of the Realms that are supposed to be at the centre of his thoughts for the future.

Well, I guess that you will continue to believe that Wales is of the utmost and vital importance to Charles and William and the late Queen then, and has always been first in their thoughts. Even though none of them can speak colloquially in that country?s language. And I?ll make up my own mind on it. And I post enough links full of facts (historical and otherwise) on this forum and always have. As well as having lived in and visited many of the countries of which I post.

More history about St. David's Cathedral and the connection to HMQEII

Quote

St David's Cathedral, unlike others, has the sovereign as a member of its Cathedral Chapter, or governing body. This also means that since the Reformation, they have had a personal stall in the Quire of the building - and the late Queen took her place in her special seat on her several visits to the church.

In fact, one of her most memorable visits to St David's Cathedral came at Easter in 1982, when she visited to distribute the annual Maundy Money - marking the first time that the monarch had travelled outside of England to carry out the service. She also made a special trip to St David's in 1995, when she conferred city status - and to this day it is still Britain's smallest city. Elizabeth II was also the first monarch to visit the cathedral since the Reformation.

There's been a Christian place of worship since the mid 900's on the site, so it's one of the oldest churches in that region. I'm looking forward to this visit and the memorial service. So much has happened since September 8, 2022 that it's hard to believe that it's been nearly a year since her passing.

Thanks for all the information on this church, from the outside it seems so beautiful with lots of history behind it. I am looking forward to the Wales visit with some pictures of the inside hopefully.  It just isn't how many times the royals visit the church as Wales and England have a strong bond that seems to go on forever. They are both connected by time and history.

Just my opinion yet this so called whatever slimmed down monarchy is a bad idea, to be seen and heard there needs to be more royals out promoting the country and it's people.

I get that yet why couldn't some of the royals do events just once in while, mot full time, just every now  and then. There needs to be more royals out there doings the bread and butter stuff like Edward and his wife do.  Pay would be limited and security is a must with this crazy world we all live in. People don't ask to be born royal yet those that are have a responsibility if a working royal to their country and the people.  People certainly don't want to throw away their heritage and history of their country all because of money do they?  When I visited London and Oxford I was the typical tourist......spent thousands of dollars on everything about the places I visited........That there is what is needed for a country to keep going. Keep  your heritage and places like BP so that we across the pond can enjoy them.

Its up to the tax payers of Britain whether they want a large working royal family and indications have been for a long time that they dont any more.

While these results are 8 years old and four of the royals(QEII, Prince Phillip, DoS, DoY) included in this poll are no longer working members,  I expect that most of the taxpayers in the UK still feel the same sentiment as they did in 2015. With the death of QEII and Prince Phillip, it might be understood that the Edinburghs and the Princess Royal are needed. Their security is only part time when they are on official engagements.

Voters: time to slim down the royal family | YouGov (https://yougov.co.uk/topics/politics/articles-reports/2015/02/05/time-slim-royal-family-down)

QuoteThought least deserving of preferential funding are the Queen?s cousins, descended from King George V (the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Duke and Duchess of Kent, Princess Alexandra and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent), as well as the Queen?s grandchildren (Princess Beatrice and Eugenie, and Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall). Fewer than 10% think these groups should continue with their current financial arrangements.

Only 28% think that Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, two of the Queen?s sons, should be allowed to receive public money and revenue from the royal duchies, while slightly more (39%) think Princess Anne should qualify.

Even Prince Harry, fourth in line to the throne, only narrowly avoids the financial chop. 48% say he should be allowed to receive money by his current means, 43% say he should not.

For 250 years Parliament paid the Queen a fixed amount of money, through the Civil List, insensitive to the rate of inflation. But the Coalition?s spending review of 2010 changed all that, and as of 2013 the Queen has received an inflation-proof 15% cut of revenue from the Crown Estate ? a property portfolio with soaring value ? through the Sovereign Support Grant.

The cost to the taxpayer of the royal family is around 58p per head per year, or around 0.005% of total public spending. Still, republicans can argue that money raised from the Crown Estate (or in Charles?s case, the Duchy of Cornwall) is strictly hereditary, and benefits from generous tax exemptions.

As the late QEII's family meets this week at Balmoral to enjoy each other's company and remember her,  I do expect that there will be a meeting among the working royals to continue to plan for the coming years.

No of course the RF in the future won?t perform as many engagements with as many charities as they did in the late Queen?s day. Not very many of Prince Philip?s, Andrew?s or indeed the late Queen?s many many hundreds of patronages each have been redistributed and it?s clear that most, apart from the military ones, won?t be.

The Kents, in bad health and already doing only a handful each year are drifting towards retirement in the next year or so. The Gloucesters (Pr Richard already nearly 80)  will probably follow within the next decade, and the Wales?s have made it very clear that they wish to concentrate on about 30 charities each as Patrons and Presidents, giving them their full attention. Prss Anne and the Edinburghs certainly won?t be taking on several more hundred patronages each. It?s impossible in practical terms.

Most of the above senior royals? adult children are in private life and show no signs of wanting to go on the royal roster. It?s doubtful that Charlotte and Louis will want to either. This is following the pattern of European and Scandi Royal families in the last forty years or so, and it?s been obvious in the BRF for ages with the Queen?s cousins offspring.

Those charities without a Royal Patron could find them among the celebrity world. Loads of British celebrities do valuable work with charities all over the UK. Local dignitaries do some too. Other charities will just go on without them.

Hundreds of charities once affiliated with the late Queen remain in the dark over whether they will be given a new royal patron.

Many say they are optimistic - but the slimmed-down monarchy means many could miss out.

?After the death of Queen Elizabeth, each of her royal patronages was sent a letter explaining there would be a review.

Nearly a year later the outcome is still not known.?

As @Curryong pointed out in her posts, the BRF are definitely showing signs that they are following the path that their European peers have blazed in the past decades with fewer "working" members even if there is a larger "royal family." Public opinion polls in those nations have also shown a preference for a smaller pool of royals who receive taxpayer support for their activities. In some cases, their constitutions limit the number of working royals.

IMO the signs have been there for awhile now with the BRF since the 1990's. For example,  Edward and Sophie were originally to have full time careers with a few patronages and appearances throughout the year. Their children were not going to use their royal titles as the grandchildren of the late Queen. While the couple did become part of the full time royals list, their children are expected to have careers. Any plans to have the York sisters on the working royal roster, were shelved years ago.

Even among Charles and his siblings, there is a noticeable difference in the number of patronages. Charles and Anne have hundreds of them while Edward/Sophie have 70 or less. While he's no longer a working royal,  Andrew like Edward had far fewer patronages than his two older siblings.  That suggests to me that these plans have been in place for awhile.  Public opinion polls in those nations have also shown a preference for a smaller pool of royals who receive taxpayer support for their activities. In some cases, their constitutions limit the number of working royals.

Instead of hundreds of single charities, more royal families are shifting towards foundations ie: The Netherlands has the Oranje Fund and concentrating their public engagements on those charities. The BRF has to be flexible enough to adapt to what the people of the United Kingdom want in the years to come if they expect the nation to remain as a monarchy.

NO, people are less interested in the family and dont feel the need to see them.  Mainly they dont wnat to pay for them. and I dont think that one will have part time royals, if the royals want a career, they wont want to do more than an occasional engagement

Has anyone heard if there will be any BRF members present at memorial services on Friday besides the Prince and Princess of Wales? I understand that Charles is having a quiet and private day, but I was wondering if Anne/Timothy or Edward/Sophie had any engagements related to her passing.

Apparently the Gloucesters have engagements on that day but according to this there is nothing pencilled in for Prss Anne, the Edinburghs etc. It might just be used as a day of quiet reflection I suppose, unless something is planned nobody knows anything about.

The Right Reverend, Dr Iain Greenshields, then Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, spent a few days at the castle last summer as a guest of the Queen, as was traditional.

Her Late Majesty was frail, he told me, but that, in a series of one-to-one conversations, he found her mentally sharp and contemplative, preoccupied in particular with her faith and that of her father, George VI.

During those final meals, the Queen spoke of her faith and continued to do so in private conversations with Dr Greenshields. Her love of Scotland, and Balmoral in particular, came through.

?At one point in our conversations she went to the window and said ?who would not want to be here?. She was in a very peaceful, private place. She was at peace.'

Yes, I expected that as well. The late Queen had led a full and interesting existence. Plus, in a way she was both typical of people with a deep and devout religious faith and of many aged people who know that their lives are coming to a close, and so are able to get to a good place, serene and happy, at peace with themselves and their lives.

I felt it was just a matter of time when I saw her on the last balcony appearance with the Wales children.  Also that last picture of HM in her living room at Balmoral with the new prime minister was heartbreaking as I thought she could barely stand up.  May HM rest in peace!

'World's most expensive coin' unveiled in honour of Queen Elizabeth II
It is described as a "16-month labour of love" by craftsmen from across the Commonwealth, and is one that "many thought was not possible due to the scale of the project and the global shortage of diamonds as a result of the pandemic".

Made with almost 4kg of gold and more than 6,426 diamonds, a new coin has been unveiled in honour of the late Queen - and may be among the most valuable of all time.

The creator of the luxury object called The Crown - the East India Company - has valued it at around USD 23m (GBP 18.47m).

Well, I?m sure it felt very worthwhile to create this coin, and the makers must be very proud. Now perhaps it can be sold (I hope it's not going to any museum) and the proceeds used for charities that actually enhance and improve ordinary people?s lives.

?Brigadier James Stopford of the Irish Guards was at his daughter Izzie's wedding in Corfu, where his phone had been buzzing for several hours with warnings of an impending announcement.

While he was making his speech at the reception, his phone vibrated again in his pocket. The text message read: 'You are commanded to return immediately to the United Kingdom to attend to your duties for Her Late Majesty's Funeral as a member of The Honourable Corps of Gentlemen At Arms.'

The Brigadier invited guests to raise a glass to the bride and groom and another to The Late Queen and His Majesty.

The State Trumpeters of the Household Cavalry had landed in Canada only 24 hours earlier. They were obliged to turn back for a reverse flight across the Atlantic.?
