Yesterday, Royal Central reported that Prince Albert of Monaco had sent his congratulations to Donald Trump after he won the United States presidential election earlier in November. However, he was not the first royal to congratulate Mr Trump. Crown Prince Alexander of Serbia and Yugoslavia sent his congratulations to President-elect Trump the day after the election was over on 9 November.

Melania Trump, the future First Lady of the United States, was born in Yugoslavia (now Slovenia) in 1970.

Crown Prince Alexander wrote in his letter of congratulations:

QuoteTheir Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia held their annual charity bazaar last week. The Crown Prince and Crown Princess officially opened the charity event together, which raised money in support of women refugees and children with special needs. The foundation of Crown Princess Katherine has organised the charity Easter Bazaar for many years. All of them with the aim of helping displaced people, refugees and socially vulnerable people in Serbia. At this year's bazaar, more than 40 women from across the nation exhibited their objects for sale.

The Serbian State Secretary in the Ministry of Labour, Mr Ivanisevic and the Commissioner for Refugees and Migrants of the Republic of Serbia were among the many government officials who participated in the opening of the bazaar. Additionally, representatives of the diplomatic corps and numerous guests from the Serbian cultural elite were also in attendance.

"You can see and enjoy the beautiful handicrafts made by these creative women and their associations. These ladies were forced to leave the safety of their homes and create an alternative life somewhere else, and this year we have the children from two orphanages, from Pancevo and Veternik," said the Crown Princess in her opening speech.

Serbia?s Crown Prince Couple host charity gala at the White Palace ? Royal Central (https://royalcentral.co.uk/europe/serbia/serbias-crown-prince-couple-host-charity-gala-at-the-white-palace-165552/)

Another example of a non-reigning royal family who like their peers in Bulgaria and Romania seem to have found a place in their nation's society after decades of exile in the post WWII era.

QuoteOver the weekend, Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia hosted supporters and high representatives of the diplomatic corps, corporate sector, and from the world of sports and arts at the 11th Annual Charity Dinner organized by the BELhospice Center for Palliative Care, at the White Palace in Belgrade. This event was organized with the aim of fundraising for the ongoing work for palliative care and free home care for oncology patients and their families.

"It has been 87 years since the murder of my great-grandfather King Alexander I. On this occasion, we traditionally gathered in Oplenac. There?s a short clip on YouTube of the disembarking of King Alexander at Marseille France and his journey in an open car through cheering crowds at the beginning of his State visit to France. Unbelievably the cameras still rolled after his assassination as he lay dying at the back of the vehicle. His assassin was attacked and almost torn to pieces by the angry crowd. Alexander left Yugoslavia rudderless really as his two sons (including his heir Peter) were still very young.

Crown Prince Alexander strongly condemns Kosovo?s actions against ethnic Serbs ? Royal Central (https://royalcentral.co.uk/europe/serbia/crown-prince-alexander-strongly-condemns-kosovos-actions-against-ethnic-serbs-167079/)

QuoteThis week, the tense situation between Serbia and Kosovo has further escalated following clashes between ethnic Serbs and Kosovo police forces.

The incident has now resulted in Serbian royal reactions. Several Kosovo police officers and ethnic Serb civilians have been injured in clashes that broke out during raids in the northern town of Mitrovica, an area populated mainly by Kosovo?s Serb minority.

Following the latest altercations, Crown Prince Alexander of Serbia has issued the following statement: ?With great sadness and disturbance, I have received the news that Serbs who live under extremely difficult conditions on our sacred land, Kosovo and Metohija, are again under the attack of brutality and violence from the institutions of so-called ?State of Kosovo.?

?We can not stand silent to the casualties of our people, who are trying to live in their centuries-old homes. All they want is what every person in this world deserves ? a chance to have a normal, peaceful life in the place where their ancestors lived for ages. And that fundamental human right is constantly endangering Serbs in Kosovo from the institutions in Pristina. Many times in the past, I visited Kosovo and saw the pain of our people. This is something that will not be tolerated, and nobody can remain silent when the lives and wellbeing of our people are being endangered again and again. It must stop!

?I appeal to all members of the international community to stop this senseless violence and not to be silent about the suffering of the Serbian people. These proud women and men have suffered so much, defending their right to live in the place which was, is, and always will be in the heart of every member of our nation, which is the birthplace of our country and the essence of our spiritual being. This tormenting of innocent people and this mad violence have to end now!?

Donations from Crown Princess Katherine help provide two schools with libraries ? Royal Central (https://royalcentral.co.uk/europe/serbia/donations-from-crown-princess-katherine-help-provide-two-schools-with-libraries-170654/)

QuoteThe Serbian Royal Family has started the new year by donating to the Serbian community. The charity organization of Crown Princess Katherine had completed new school libraries at two schools in the Serbian cities of Melnica and Stamnica.

New bookshelves, desks, chairs and paintings of the world-renowned Serbian scientist, Nikola Tesla, were donated to both schools. The new library at the school in Melnica was completed by a generous donation from the Three Circles of Serbian Sisters from Illinois. The new library at the school in Stamnica was made possible by a generous donation from The Nelson Family Charitable Foundation.

In connection with the news, Her Royal Highness issued the following statement: ?I am very grateful to Lifeline Chicago, the Three Circles of Serbian Sisters, and to the Nelson Family Charitable Foundation who always think of our children and continue to help in difficult times. Children always come first and always will. This donation will provide good and proper learning conditions for the children, which is very important for their education. It is the duty of adults to help the children while they are growing up, to give them the best possible conditions for learning, so they can have a better and more certain future?.

Dragisa Milosevic, Principal of Elementary school Branko Radicevic in Melnica issued the following statement: ?Thanks to a donation from Crown Princess Katherine, students and teachers of the school in Melnica and its regional branch in Stamnica gained the opportunity to perform their activities in a pleasant environment, in modern libraries, and to cherish the love for reading. As we have done up to now, we will continue strive to enrich the school libraries with new titles every year, which follow the needs of education and interests of our students. On behalf of the students and staff of the Elementary School ?Branko Radičević? in Melnica and on my behalf, I would like to thank Crown Princess Katherine on her donation?.

From what I have read on another site, Prince Petar has never had much interest in becoming the future head of the royal household and therefore it makes sense to have his younger brother take on this role.

Here's the official statement from CP Alexander and to be honest it seems to have caught him by surprise.

STATEMENT FROM THE ROYAL PALACE OF SERBIA REGARDING HEREDITARY PRINCE - The Royal Family of Serbia (https://royalfamily.org/statement-from-the-royal-palace-of-serbia-regarding-hereditary-prince/)

QuoteRegarding the most current events in the Royal Family of Serbia?s line of succession, and the withdrawal of HRH Prince Peter from the position of Hereditary Prince, HRH Crown Prince Alexander, as the Head of the Royal Family, issued the following statement:

?Concerning the withdrawal of my oldest son Prince Peter from the line of succession, I wish him all the best for the future, good health, and happiness. I appreciate his honesty regarding the tough decision he made.

This issue was brought to me quickly, while I am abroad, due to previous obligations. Unfortunately, such a crucial and important procedure was not followed properly, in accordance with the tradition and rules of the Royal Family, and the Family Rulebook, which was written in the time of the Kingdom, and which all members of the Royal Family need to follow. This occurrence and procedure did not take place at the Royal Palace, in Serbia, with my presence and authority as the Head of the Royal Family, with the blessing of our Holy Church and with Crown Council participation in the process, but in a foreign country, without a good reason for performing such important matter away from our homeland.

The Royal Family of Serbia will continue to serve the people with dedication, honesty, and loyalty, which is the obligation and duty for us?, stated HRH Crown Prince Alexander.

1,000 children visit the White Palace in Belgrade for a special celebration ? Royal Central (https://royalcentral.co.uk/europe/serbia/1000-children-visit-the-white-palace-in-belgrade-for-a-special-celebration-185268/)

QuoteCrown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia have hosted a Christmas gathering for more than 1,000 children in need from Serbia and the Republic of Srpska. The event took place at the White Palace in Belgrade, the official residence of the Royal Family of Serbia.

These children, who are without parental care, have intellectual disabilities, or are socially vulnerable and range in age from one to fourteen. They were given the opportunity to celebrate Orthodox Christmas with the royal couple and share in the holiday?s spirit. The events were supported by the patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Porfirije, the Serbian Minister for Family Welfare and Demography, and several private individuals including the sister of HRH Crown Princess Katherine.

The tradition of hosting Christmas gatherings for children in need was started by Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine after their return to Serbia in 2001. After a two-year break due to the Covid-19 pandemic, during which gifts were delivered directly to institutions, the royal couple were pleased to be able to host the gatherings again at the White Palace and give gifts to the children in person.

Serbia?s Crown Prince and Princess support for tourism ? Royal Central (https://royalcentral.co.uk/europe/serbia/serbias-crown-prince-and-princess-support-for-tourism-187715/)

QuoteThe White Palace in Belgrade was the setting for a special focus on tourism with a look at links between Serbia and Greece and aims to encourage people from both countries to choose each other as holiday destinations.

Tourism is a major contributor to the economies of both countries.

The Serbian Crown Princess is born Greek, so the ties between the two countries are close. The Thessaloniki Tourism Organization, with the support of the Greek Ministry of Tourism, went to the White Palace to present ?Thessaloniki in Belgrade?. This event highlighted Thessaloniki?s tourism as well as its business, gastronomy, cultural, educational, and attributes as a city break destination.

The event was held in collaboration with ?Tourism Plus ?and with the support of Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia. A significant aspect of the event was the signing of a Partnership Agreement between the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization and the Tourist Organization of Belgrade, which aims to increase tourist flows and investments in both cities.

The event began with a welcoming speech from Crown Prince Alexander and was followed by speeches from various distinguished guests, including the Ambassador of Greece in Serbia, the Vice Governor of Thessaloniki Region and the acting Director of the Tourist Organization of Belgrade.

Yes as his elder brother Peter abdicated his place and that of any future kids, in succession. Since he is older then his twin, Philip is the new heir.

Seems right. Both Philip and Alexander unlike their older brother actually live in Serbia. They certainly both have more of a draw there. Peter lives abroad, unmarried and with a child out of wedlock. He seemed to have no desire to succeed his father, even before he abdicated it.
