That?s so sad that he is being blamed for his mental health issues.  It?s an illness - an issue with brain chemistry.  Just like Graves is an issue with thyroid chemistry or diabetes an issue of insulin and pancreas.   That attitude is so harmful and so backwards.

Ernst August of Hanover seems to have taken some advice given after his recent bad behaviour to heart. Although a bit gaunt-looking, he appears thinner and fitter than he has been for some years as he exits a bakery in Salzburg in Austria in the photo below with a driver/assistant. Maybe he is on the road to some recovery at least.

Ernst-August of Hanover has reportedly been in rehab recently but is now vacationing on the holiday island of Ibiza. It?s a popular spot for partying Brits and others, used to be a favourite of Chelsy Davy and friends. E-A looks cheerful and not bloated in his latest snaps so hopefully rumours that he has been seen having a drink or two on Ibiza are untrue.

Beatrice is second cousins with Prince George Friedrich of Prussia, both great-grandchildren of the last German crown prince. Her paternal grandmother was Lady Brigid Guiness. Her Aunt Antonia is married to the Duke of Wellington. Her cousin Charlotte is married to Alejandro Santo Domingo (half brother to Tatiana Casiraghi's father).

The bride at 40 is oldest of four kids, and last to marry.Her sister Florence married an old Etonian friend of Prince William.

On her mother's side she is niece of Benjamin Mancroft, 3rd Baron Mancroft.


She is a gifted artist, a professional, and concentrates on nature.

Brewing seems to be a theme. She is the granddaughter of a Guiness and her fiance Edmund's family also has it in the blood. Edmund's grandfather became the only non family stakehlolder in Sussex band The Harvey's Brewery. Edmund's father Miles is the head brewer.

Ooh er! Wonder whether Caroline will lose her HRH after all. Reports in European magazines report that Ernst August of Hanover is with a new girlfriend. They met on Ibiza this summer, she is German, an artist and mother of two. Apparently the two are very close. They are in Madrid at the moment and on their way to lunch with Prince Christian (not of Denmark!) So long as E-A keeps off the juice all will be well.

If the new location and new relationship are allowing Ernst August an opportunity to work on his health, then I believe that is for the best. At least he appears to be a little more involved with his younger son, daughter-in-law and their children.

Prince Ernst of Hanover, the estranged husband of Princess Caroline of Monaco, has found love with a woman 20 years his junior, it has emerged. 

Ernst, 67, a distant cousin of the Queen, has been spotted out and about in Madrid with Spanish-born artist Claudia Stilianopoulos, 48, whose parents were friends with Princess Margaret.

The couple reportedly met in Ibiza in July and have become close, with some European news websites even hinting marriage could be on the cards.

Ernst married Princess Caroline, sister of Prince Albert II and daughter of Prince Rainier III, in 1999 and share daughter Princess Alexandra, 22. They split in 2009 but have never divorced.

Update on his suspended sentence in Austria.

Ernst, the great-grandson of Emperor William II, was handed a 10-month suspended jail sentence in Austria earlier this year for drunkenly injuring a police officer and threatening another with a baseball bat.

He was also required by the court to find another home in Austria and attend psychotherapy.         

His lawyers explained during the trial that he had undertaken treatment since the incidents, which they said occurred while he had been 'isolated for years and betrayed by his own son'. Hola magazine states that the instructions have now been lifted.

Update on his ongoing legal battle with his eldest son and heir over the family's holdings which were transferred to the younger Prince EA in the mid-2000's.Honestly I don't believe that EA Jr. had any other option open to him. Having the Federal Government take control of the historic property was likely the best solution.

Ernst, the head of a German dynasty of one of Europe's biggest aristocratic families, has for years been in conflict with his 'ungrateful' son, whom he suspects of seeking to squander family properties in Germany, especially land and forests in Lower Saxony.

At the end of last year he filed a lawsuit in a court in Hanover in northern Germany in order to recover the Marienburg castle, which has become a tourist attraction.

Prince Ernst accused his son of 'going behind his back' in court papers filed this week.

He had transferred Marienburg castle and the neighbouring Calenburg estate to his son - also called Ernst August - in the mid-2000s.

The Duke of Braunschweig and L?neberg then flogged the land and in 2018 announced that Marienburg would be sold to the government for a nominal fee.

This may have been more economic than benevolent: the castle required renovations estimated at more than ?23 million and had been costing a fortune to keep open to 200,000 visitors each year.  The younger Ernst said it marked an 'historic turning point' for the family and would help preserve the Gothic palace for the public.

The Bundestag - Germany's federal parliament - has already voted in favour of contributing ?12 million towards the renovations, while around 100 paintings and other artefacts from the castle have been handed to Hanover's state museum.

These were worth a total of ?2 million, while a further ?5 million worth of treasures have been given to an art foundation.

The wrangling Ernst August Sr and Ernst August Jr were due to appear in court on November 25 but the hearing was postponed until March next year.

The Prince, who is the son of Their Highnesses Prince Gustav and Princess Carina zu-Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, has six godparents, whom the family will henceforth refer to as the Prince's godparents. They are His Royal Highness Prince Christian, Her Royal Highness Princess Theodora of Greece, Ellen Hillings?, Arabella Gaggero, His Royal Highness Prince Franz-Albrecht and Prince Carl-Anton.
