I notice the king's mother, Queen Mother Tshering Yangdon. His full brother Jigme Dorji and his wife were also in attendance. Dorji's wife is Jetsun's elder sister.

Prince Jigyel Ugyen was part of another ceremony in Thimphu. He is the king's nearest brother in age, and was heir presumptive until the birth of his nephews.

Its a beautiful ceremony, and a wonderful way to pay respect to Philip.

I am happy we will be able to see Philip's funeral next weekend. Even with a small paired down ceremony, we can still have a chance to take part in the ceremony honoring his life.

I presume after the funeral Prince Philip will be interred, at least temporarily, in the vaults at St George?s. It was always said that the Queen and Prince Philip would go into the George VI Chapel there permanently, but given that it?s very small and Princess Margaret had to be cremated in order to fit in, it doesn?t seem very likely.

As she has had such a long reign I?m wondering whether there will eventually  be a Queen Elizabeth Chapel put somewhere in St George?s (though where heaven knows.) The truth is, macabre as it sounds, the RF are running out of space for their final resting places. Frogmore is full. Perhaps there are plans for a mausoleum at Windsor, a modern version of Victoria and Albert?s, with room for their children, if required.

The messages of condolence and support the Queen and BRF have received from Presidents and other Royals alike have been very heartwarming. Some of course have a very personal connection, Norway, Luxembourg, Greece etc (and poor Kings Harald and Constantine are probably feeling their own mortality as they are in bad health.) The Spanish message was indeed especially warm. Sofia knows the British royals well. All of the messages from everyone have been very empathetic and warm, just lovely.

The plans for the funeral are in line with His Royal Highnesss own personal wishes.

The occasion will recognise and celebrate The Dukes life and more than 70 years of service to The Queen, the UK and the Commonwealth.

According to a press release from the Palace Household members of Prince Philip?s staff will walk behind the coffin following royal family members. Glad to read that as many had served him for decades.

There?ll probably be a live feed of the funeral for staff who can?t be there as well.

1 The coffin, covered with Philip's personal standard and a wreath of flowers, is borne by 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards from Windsor Castle's private chapel.

2 2.40pm. It reaches the castle state entrance. Accompanying the coffin will be the Dean of Windsor and the Lord Chamberlain. Those gathered in the quadrangle 'pay compliments'.

Royal Marines place the coffin on a Land Rover.

The procession sets off, led by Band of the Grenadier Guards, followed by the Major General's Party and the Service Chiefs.

3 The route is lined by representatives of the Royal Navy, the Royal Marines, the Highlanders, 4th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland and the RAF. Minute guns are fired by the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery from the East Lawn. The Curfew Tower bell tolls.

4 2.53pm. The procession reaches St George's Chapel West Steps. A Guard of Honour and Band from The Rifles receives the coffin at the foot of the steps. The National Anthem is played as the coffin enters Horseshoe Cloister. A bearing party of Royal Marines carries the coffin up the steps.

3pm. Pause for a minute's silence. The Archbishop of Canterbury and Dean of Windsor receive the coffin. Only members of the Royal Family and Philip's private secretary, Archie Miller-Bakewell, enter the chapel.

The Service begins with the coffin carried to the catafalque in the Quire.

Prince Georg of Hohenlohe-Langenburg is the son of Philip's oldest sister, Princess Margarita.
Will Prince Georg attend the service?

The Order of Service placed in the post above is in fact a mock-up by a tabloid, published in the last 24 hours.  It takes elements of the QM?s funeral of nearly twenty years ago, a very different affair and replaced the QM?s  details with Prince Philip?s. The Order of Service for PP including attendees for the funeral will probably be released on this coming Thursday.

I don?t think so, as he would have to fly over from Germany. Prince Philip had three surviving sisters (all now dead) who left children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The youngest ones probably have never met Prince Philip or if they have, only once.

On the other hand Philip and the Queen have four children, three with partners, eight grandchildren, four with partners (one separated, one partner not coming due to pregnancy, two too young to be married.) They probably will all attend.

Philip lost many friends to death over the years, but also had some very close friends, including people who had visited him at Wood Farm to stay in the past year. There?s also the Kents, the children of his first cousin Marina, who might want to be invited to participate. He was especially close to Alexandra. They are all elderly but might want to be present.

There?s no evidence that Philip was extremely close to Prince Georg, so why would he occupy a seat that could be used by those who were much much closer to Philip?

With covid and restrictions, might be a lot for the 82 year old to come for the funeral from Germany.

Its more likely Philip's side will be represented by a few members of the Mountbattens.

Its nice his private secretary of 11 years will be in the chapel. I wasn't certain a staff member would make the guest list due to the small size permitted. Happy I was wrong.

I'd be very surprised if Alexandra and her brothers were not there.

I've been thinking that a new mausoleum might be built somewhere at Frogmore. I imagine decisions about the long term have already been made, and they have probably considered their descendants as well. The grassed area where so many of the royals are buried did not look full to me, but it doesn't seem appropriate for the Queen and Philip to be buried there anyway.

Sounds like the ceremony will be moving, royal, and personal. I will be watching next week.
