The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester attended a Service of Commemoration at Southwark Cathedral on Sunday afternoon to mark the anniversary of the London Bridge attack.

It has been one year since the attack at London Bridge and Borough Market where eight people died and more than 40 were injured.

Prince Richard and Birgitte attended the commemorations on behalf of The Royal Family and were sat beside the Prime Minister and other dignitaries to remember those killed last year.

During the private ceremony, candles were lit by relatives of the victims, before an olive tree was planted in the cathedral grounds using compost from floral tributes which were left on the bridge by wellwishers in the aftermath of the attacks last year.

Following the conclusion of the ceremony, a procession from Southwark Cathedral to Southwark Needle took place where a minute?s silence was held.

Their Royal Highnesses laid flowers alongside the Home Secretary and community leaders.ote][/quote]
