Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie attended the presentation of the book series Le sièce du Tageblatt. You might remember from earlier this year that the Esch-sur-Alzette-based newspaper is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and the presentation of five books about its history is the last event of the year to mark the occasion. Other guests at the event included Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, President of the Chamber Mars di Bartolomeo, Luxembourg mayor Lydie Polfer and a whole array of other politicians.

Grand Duchess Maria-Teresa assisted at the 25th anniversary of the Initiativ Rëm Schaffen. Founded in 1988, the association offers people in need of a new job advice and support by giving individual guidance as well as the organisation of seminars, conferences and training. Towards the end of the event the Grand Duchess and the other guests watched a performance by cabaret group Makadammen.

Scarf stirs up Princess Stéphanie pregnancy rumours

Like any royal wife, Princess Stéphanie is being monitored by the international press and media from Germany and Sweden appear to have put the future Grand Duchess on bump watch.

According to German publication "Bunte" and Swedish tabloid "Svensk Damtidning" all the signs are pointing towards a baby at the Grand Ducal household.

For one, Stéphanie has recently made fewer public appearances. For example, even though Princess Tessy and Princess Claire accompanied Grand Duchess Maria-Teresa to the International Bazaar, Stéphanie was not part of the royal line-up.

The cour grand-ducale has released a picture of the christening of Archduchess Maria-Stella that took place last Saturday (presumably in the morning or early afternoon as members of the family where in Nancy later that day) at the parish church of Fischbach, the home of Grand Duke Jean. The first child of Archduke Imre, himself the oldest son of Princess Marie-Astrid and Archduke Carl-Christian, and his wife Archduchess Kathleen was born on November 11 in Luxembourg where the family is living.

The present members of the Grand Ducal Family attended the baptism of SAIR Archduchess Maria-Stella Habsburg Lorraine, born in November 11, 2013, daughter of Archduke Imre of Austria and his wife Kathleen Walker, became the Wedding Archduchess of Austria. Just when I had worked the magic of copying Chinese characters into Google and managed to find yet another picture of the Hereditary Grand Duke and the Hereditary Grand Duchess, I was delighted that find that Wort finally has pictures of this week's economic mission. Check out the German, French and English versions, as always the pictures slightly vary.

To give you a rundown: the Luxembourgish delegation started off in Beijing on Monday, before travelling to Shanghai on Tuesday. They then made their way to Hangzhou, 200 kilometers southwest of Shanghai, and finally to Wuxi City, 200 kilometers northwest of Shanghai, where "the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg government and the Reserve couple rate tin trade delegation visit to attend the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in the city's 'Luxembourg: gateway to Europe' economic and trade exchanges, and witness Wuxi - Luxembourg Comprehensive Economic and Trade Cooperation Strategy signed a memorandum of understanding" or so Google translate tells me.

Christmas Luncheon in Luxembourg

While Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie are still whiling news-less in China, Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa as well as Prince Louis and Princess Tessy joined a Christmas luncheon hosted by Stëmm vun der Strooss (Voice of the Street) today. The humanitarian organisation has organised the luncheon for the homeless and poor, asylum seekers, ex-prisoners, drug addicts, people suffering from mental illnesses and other people who are socially vulnerable and might not have anybody to spend Christmas with since 1966. It's interesting to note that the members of the Grand Ducal Family weren't invited for the event but instead asked Stëmm vun der Strooss whether they could come and join.

Other guests at the luncheon attended by about 350 socially vulnerable people included the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Mars di Bartolomeo, health minister Lydia Mutsch and Luxembourg's new (and old) mayor Lydie Polfer. During the course of the lunch, the homeless and otherwise disadvantaged people also received gift bags with clothes. It's nice to see the Grand Ducal Family being involved with such a worthy cause, we often tend to forget that poverty is right there in front of our doorstep and sadly an all too common occurence even in Western society. Also nice to see that Prince Louis and Princess Tessy seem to have gotten more and more involved in Luxembourg over the last year or so instead of only popping up for the major events.

The Royal Visit to China in Pictures

Luxembourg's Crown Prince Guillaume and Princess Stéphanie this week visited China as part of an economic mission to promote business ties between the Grand Duchy and the People's Republic.

The couple arrived in Beijing on December 16, where they met with Chinese Minister of Commerce Gao Hucheng, as well as the president of the People's Bank of China, Zhou Xiaochuan, and the chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, Xiao Gang.

The following day, the couple and Economy Minister Etienne Schneider travelled onwards to Shanghai, where they met with a business delegation from Luxembourg, including representatives of 23 companies based in the Grand Duchy.

Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and his wife Princess Stéphanie will be in Luxembourg City to visit charity centres and the Christmas market on December 21.  If you want to catch a glimpse of the couple head to the town hall in Place Guillaume, where they will be welcomed at 1.30pm

They will then visit the "Péitrusshaus", a shelter minors located in the Gare area, and the "Cent Buttek", a low-cost grocery store in Beggen.
