QuoteThe British High Commission today announced the visit to Zambia of His Royal Highness Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex. High Commissioner James Thornton said:

"I am delighted that His Royal Highness is visiting Zambia this week. This is largely a working visit; the Prince will be promoting the Duke of Edinburgh's Award in Zambia. The Prince will visit Alliance Motors, the franchise holder for Jaguar Land Rover products in Zambia, one of several British companies with an important presence here. And I am hosting a lunch for the Prince, to introduce him to a range of prominent Zambians and British nationals resident here.

Prince Edward's visit here is a further sign of the strength of the relationship between the UK and Zambia, and follows the highly successful visit by HRH The Princess Royal a year ago."

Prince Edward is the youngest son of Queen Elizabeth II. The Prince arrived this morning of 3 October and will stay until midday on 4 October. Prince Edward will start his visit by paying a courtesy call on His Excellency the Acting President, Alexander Chikwanda MP.
