QuoteBuckingham Palace announced today that His Royal Highness, The Duke of York will represent the UK later this month at anniversary celebrations for CERN in Geneva, Switzerland.

The European Organisation for Nuclear Research (also known as CERN) is celebrating 60 years since its formation and will be holding a variety of activities throughout September to mark the occasion. Prince Andrew, at the request of Her Majesty's Government, will attend an official ceremony at the organisation's Geneva headquarters on the 29th September which aims to highlight "60 years of science for peace."

The Duke of York aims to use the visit to raise awareness of and promote British science, technology and engineering expertise and will also meet and hold discussions with British scientists, business representatives and heads of international agencies on the trip.
