Bhutan's Queen celebrates 100 years of National Geographic coverage

John Claude White's experiences travelling the country from 1905 to 1907 was given the article title 'Castles in the Air: Experiences and Journeys in Unknown Bhutan'. The coverage was unprecedented and paved the way for many more amazing depictions by the National Geographic Society.

Today, a 100 years after, Bhutan celebrates the historic magazine's extensive coverage, and on Monday the milestone was marked by Queen Jetsun Pema, who delivered a speech to representatives from the National Geographic Society, during a festive evening at the Taj Tashi Hotel in Thimphu.
