Title: Royal Foundation News
Post by: sara8150 on July 12, 2018, 09:07:32 PM
New Director of Royal Foundation is announced ? Royal Central (http://royalcentral.co.uk/uk/cambridges/new-director-of-royal-foundation-is-announced-105903)

QuoteIt has been announced that the new Director of the Royal Foundation will be Baroness Barran of Bathwick. Diana Barran received her life peerage in this year?s birthday honours and has been a tireless charity campaigner for some years following a career as a hedge-fund manager. She founded the charity SafeLives, a domestic abuse charity and served as its Chief Executive between 2004 and 2017. The work that charity did with regards to mental abuse will engage well with some of the work of the Royal Foundation with mental illness issues. She is also one of the Trustees of Comic Relief and so well used to charities which are very much in the public spotlight.

In becoming a Director and Trustee of the Foundation, the Baroness joins eight other trustees who are responsible in law for the work of the Foundation in four areas; fundraising, governance, strategic direction and oversight. There have been a few issues with charities in recent years, and this is obviously something that must be avoided at all costs. The current Chairman of the Foundation is Sir Keith Mills CBE DL; he has an impressive CV having formed the group which founded the Air Miles and Nectar Card customer loyalty programmes. In addition, he was Deputy Chairman of London 2012 under Lord Coe and Chairman of the 2014 Invictus Games.

The Royal Foundation was set up by Prince William and Prince Harry nearly ten years ago in 2009 and became fully operational two years later when they were joined by Prince William?s wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, and earlier this year the Duchess of Sussex became the fourth patron when she married Prince Harry. The foundation is very much a charitable and philanthropic vehicle for the two royal couples and seeks to work in four areas which are close to them; mental health, wildlife and conservation, young people and the armed forces community. Perhaps the flag-ship of the foundation in that it now runs as a successful independent organisation is the Invictus Games.

This is a foundation that they have established and are in the process of developing to undertake charitable functions and achieve certain goals, all as part of their royal work. Of course they are both persons of control.

I actually think that, until Charles becomes King, that director of the foundation is a good job for Kate. She can still do her engagements, and her Royal duties.

The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge has 16 Directors (officers), whilst both the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are Persons with Significant Control;

i. The Duke Nature of control Right to appoint and remove directors
ii. The Duchess Nature of control Ownership of voting rights - More than 25% but not more than 50%, Meaning she has the stakes of up to 49%

Edit to add the Active Directors NINE (09), the rest were removed or resigned, especially notified after the split, unemployment would happen.

Hannah Cockburn-Logie OBE MVO. Impressive CV

She has spent the majority of her career representing the UK overseas, with over 20 years' experience working for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

She served as head of political and bilateral relations at the British High Commission in India, based in New Delhi, until September 2018.

In 2017, she was awarded an OBE for services to the UK-India relationship having led the royal tour and a number of Prime Ministerial visits, and in 2008 received an MVO (Royal Victorian Order) for her work leading the Queen's visit to Slovenia that same year.

Graham Smith from the Republic organization in the UK has made some claims that the Royal Foundation of the DOC's, as well as the DOS's did wrongdoings with the money transfers approx. GBP 300K.

As of today, I understand the Charities Commission has cleared the the Royal Foundation of the DOC's as those 2 money transfers were carried out 11th December 2019 when the Sussex Royal Foundation still existed.

Further information on how this will assist front line and mental health workers.

QuoteThe grants ? made to ten leading charities at the heart of mental health and frontline support ? build on the work that The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge has already done in recent months to support those on the frontline of the pandemic in the UK, and the mental health sector.

Earlier this week, The Duke and Duchess spoke to four representatives from organisations which will benefit from the fund, including two emergency responders and two mental health counsellors. They heard about the challenges facing organisations and how mental health support will be needed both for those working on the frontline and those delivering vital support to the nation.

QuoteTogether, the grants made through the COVID-19 Response Fund ensure that:

    All emergency responders will have access to individual grief trauma counselling from Hospice UK;
    Over 250,000 emergency responders will have access to peer-to-peer support through Mind?s Blue Light programme;
    The Ambulance Staff Charity will be able to provide an additional 2,780 hours of support for the UK?s ambulance community;
    Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) will be able to respond to 2,300 more contacts each month;
    Shout 85258 will be able to have 250 more text message conversations with people who are struggling to cope every day;
    The Mix will expand their group chat service for young people to seven days per week;
    Teachers, children and their parents will be supported to cope with mental health needs, including self-care and managing anxiety as schools re-open, thanks to training and resources from Place2Be and The Anna Freud Centre; and
    An additional 20,000 new mothers will be supported by Best Beginnings, thanks to a community mental health training project to reach pregnant women and new parents.

Well done!

I'm quoting from the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Financial Statement of Accounts, page 5

Trustees' report - incorporating the Directors' report for Companies Act purposes
Quote
COVID-19 response
Although our original plans for 2020 have been affected by COVID-19, we have been able to rapidly
readjust our focus in response to the developing situation. Our staff have all successfully transitioned to
working from home and while we hope the disruption will be short-lived, we are committed to doing all we
can to support those on the frontline of responding to COVID-19 in the UK.
For example we have accelerated work on our emergency responders programme to allow the
Foundation to play an essential role with key partners to address gaps in support for the emergency
responder community.
Our existing activities, experience and contacts within the mental health and emergency responder
communities place us in good stead to carry out a key role of convening and adding value through our
partnerships. Our COVID-19 response has been grouped around two key strands:
 Working with MIND, SHOUT, Samaritans and Hospice UK, The Royal Foundation is supporting
the Our Frontline initiative, to provide mental health support to frontline staff and key workers.
This campaign will use Mind?s Mental Health at Work portal and Shout?s 24/7 crisis text service,
both funded by The Royal Foundation.
We have set up a COVID-19 response fund, successfully raising funds from donors in order to
make targeted grants to organisations supporting the frontline community and those addressing
the likely mental health impact amongst the general population where there is a pressing need.
http://apps.charitycommission.gov.uk/Accounts/Ends48/0001132048_AC_20191231_E_C.PDF

I'm doing so, because some desperate social media users are clutching on straws saying that since they have William Hague as a new director, the couple are receiving intended charity funds from government, IF so, it's still good moneys intended (budgeted) for charity, but it needs to be clarified that the financial report, paragraphs of all the couples projects are transparent.  Also the above quote was incorporated during March 2020, when the couple said they'd have to center their fundraising, awareness to covid19.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridges Royal Foundation has announced a 1.8 million fund to support frontline workers and the nations mental health, as part of the their response to the Covid-19 crisis.

Prince William and Kate met with representatives from organisations that will benefit from the fund, and heard how mental health support will be needed for frontline workers.

More than 250,000 emergency responders will have access to peer-to-peer support thanks to the Royal Foundation grants.

Since the start of the pandemic the royal couple have worked to understand the challenges faced by mental health, frontline and bereavement sectors, and to identify what support was needed.

Some movement at the Duke and Duchess Royal Foundation today - Simon Case has resigned as a trustee, which is entirely expected as he is now no longer Prince Wiliams private secretary. And respected broadcaster Zeinab Badawi has been appointed as a director.

The Rt. Hon. Lord Hague of Richmond will be the next Chair of the Board of Trustees of The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Lord Hague will succeed Sir Keith Mills, who is retiring after five years as Chair of the Foundation, which is the primary philanthropic and charitable vehicle for The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The Royal Foundation has also today announced the appointment of award-winning broadcast journalist Zeinab Badawi to its Board of Trustees, whose work includes HardTalk and Global Questions for the BBC as well as the landmark History of Africa series. Ms Badawi is Chair of the Royal African Society and has worked closely with Prince William in his capacity as Patron of the Society.

The Royal Foundation develops programmes and charitable projects based on the interests of Their Royal Highnesses by working with organisations which are already making a proven impact in their respective fields. The Royal Foundation provides additional investment, mentoring, support and partnerships for these programmes, and lends its own profile and leverage to enhance the effect of their good work.

Conservation
The natural world is our most important asset. The Royal Foundation addresses these pressing environmental and conservation crises by bringing together environmentalists, businesses, global leaders, and NGOs to find solutions.

Early Years
Stemming originally from her work on issues like addiction and family breakdown, The Duchess of Cambridge has observed that so many of society?s greatest social and health challenges, and the inter-generational cycle of disadvantage, could be mitigated or entirely avoided by providing the right support for children in the earliest years of life.

Mental Health
Mental health matters just as much as our physical health, yet too often it is ignored, misunderstood and neglected. It is one of the biggest public health issues of today, impacting all aspects of society.

Emergency Responders
We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to our emergency services. This work was born out of a recognition that, even in normal times, the work of the emergency responder community places tremendous demands on their mental health and wellbeing.

Current Programmes and initiatives

The Earthshot Prize
Over the last ten years, the evidence that we face urgent challenges to protect the environment has become indisputable, and it?s clear that the time to act is now. Drawing inspiration from the concept of moonshots, which since the moon landing in 1969 has become shorthand to talk about the most ambitious and ground-breaking goals, The Duke of Cambridge announced the Earthshot Prize: an ambitious set of challenges to inspire a decade of action to repair the planet.

United for Wildlife Taskforces
The private sector can become involved unwittingly with those who traffic wildlife products ? these include ivory, rhino horn and pangolin scales. Illegal wildlife trade is among the five most lucrative global crimes and is often run by highly organised criminal networks. Although such networks are difficult to detect and even more difficult to deter, combining forces with the private sector is crucial to be able to stop the trafficking of wildlife products. By forming partnerships with businesses, United for Wildlife are bringing new voices to the conservation discussion to identify and implement solutions.

Heads Together
Heads Together is a mental health initiative spearheaded by The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, which combines a campaign to tackle stigma and change the conversation on mental health with fundraising for a series of innovative new mental health services.

Launched in 2016 by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke of Sussex, the initiative built on the work they have done to tackle stigma and change the conversation on mental health for everyone.

Heads Up
Imagine if we talked about mental health as much as we talk about football. It?s our national game ? passionately followed and wholeheartedly loved by millions in the UK and billions around the world. Many of us won?t go a day without talking about it. That?s why Heads Together partnered with The FA to start Heads Up, a campaign that uses football to normalise the conversation around mental health. Through Heads Up, our aim is to help people feel as comfortable talking about mental health as they are talking football.

Our Frontline
As part of the response to COVID-19, The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is formally supporting Our Frontline, an initiative which brings together leading mental health charities to provide resources and support to frontline staff and key workers.
The Foundation has a long history of raising awareness of the importance of mental health and played a leading role in creating Shout and the Mental Health at Work programme, both of which are key elements of the Our Frontline initiative.

Post by: wannable on May 25, 2021, 04:48:12 PM
I'm not sure to be honest, the Republican claim is that W' Royal Foundation GBP 300,000 and H' defunct Sussex Royal (changed to MWX) whatever the remaining half amount from the total amount, because the charities commission already stated that half was used to pay administration and legal fees, whilst also criticising the Sussexes; both transferred funds to Travalyst.

My confusion (probably the Republicans too???) is what is the standing of Travalyst? BUT, since there is no wrong doing, Travalyst which is not a charity CAN receive funds to do....I don't know.  :laugh:

GCHQ and publishers Puffin are proud to be teaming up to publish a brand-new puzzle book for kids, Puzzles for Spies, coming in September.

The book includes a foreword by Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and proceeds from GCHQ's share of the advance and royalties for this book, estimated in the first year to be at least 20,000 pounds, will go to The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (registered charity number: 1132048) to support the organisation's ongoing mental health work. Studies have shown the positive impact puzzle solving and teamwork can have on a person's mental and emotional wellbeing and, in their foreword, Their Royal Highnesses say:

"We are delighted that the brilliant minds at GCHQ have been busy working on a third puzzle book, and that this edition is designed for younger readers' Talking openly about mental health can be the first step in removing stigma, fear and isolation.  Just like at GCHQ, bringing different perspectives together can often be the key to unlocking a solution you can't quite find on your own."

If the Govt has been unable (unwilling) to do anything to solve or greatly change the plight of Britain?s homelessness in the years since WW2, I doubt very much that any initiative from KP will do much to solve the problem. Well meaning no doubt, but ineffectual.

Especially at a time of roaring inflation and rapid rent increases. The post War govt began a massive programme to rebuild Britain?s housing crisis after cities and towns were bombed but somehow never caught up. And it?s been that way ever since. It needs billions spent on it, far more billions than any govt will be prepared to shell out on an annual basis and certainly beyond the capacity of KP.

It is a great 'flagship' project.  The UK is one of the 5 countries best examples/progams with homelessness, the common checkmarks Austria Finland England have done is 1. communal housing first, 2 feeding, 3 seeking what the person skills in order to be productive in society.  (William has visited these housing facilities, big kitchen conversion and also met with those involved with The Big Issue)

Quote
More than 270,000 people in England were homeless at the last count in December 2021, including 126,000 children, according to street newspaper The Big Issue.

I think William is seeking more housing facilities in order to battle homeless people in the street.

Quote
More than 8,000 people sleep rough on the streets of London each year. They come from every walk of life, and many of them want to find work.

Those British figures are extremely under-reported. I know from people back home that I still correspond with who work in social services that people are often transient, in sub-standard accommodation, couch surfing, sharing a room in relatives and/or with friends, moving on, moving on. You don?t have to be literally sleeping in the streets to be homeless. We shall see what the actual results of this project are, in the current economic climate, in another three or four years.

The Royal Foundation releases a Five Year Report on Heads Together.  I'm glad that there's been a review of the Heads Together Campaign and information released on its impact on the mental health of the people in the UK. Who could have guessed that in less than three years after the launch, that the world would face one of its greatest challenges to mental and physical health which still has far reaching effects.
https://royalfoundation.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/HeadsTogetherFiveYearReport.pdf

QuoteIn 2017, The Royal Foundation created Heads Together: an ambitious nationwide campaign to change the conversation on mental health. Led by The Prince and Princess of Wales (then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge) and Prince Harry, Heads Together brought together a team of inspirational charities, businesses and other organisations to tackle stigma and encourage people to talk about their mental health. It also generated a series of innovative new mental health services and practical tools to make talking about mental health easier

Highlights from the report.

Quote53% of British adults are now
talking about their mental health, which has increased from 42% in April 2017. This means an estimated six million additional people are having conversations about their mental health.

QuoteOver half of adults (54%) in Britain believe mental health stigma has reduced over the past five years.

QuoteMore people are seeking help for their mental health, including through conversations, with the largest gains seen in men and people in lower socio-economic groups.
The proportion of British adults who report performing an activity to look after their mental health went up from 31% to 38%.

Harry is only mentioned once in the header of the pdf as a co founder with William and Kate.  Heads Together campaigns/charity needs moneys to work, that money is spent on campaigns/charity within the United Kingdom, not the United States.

Quote
Building on the legacy of the Heads Together campaign, 2020 saw us transform the degree to which mental
health is prioritised within football ? from the Premier League to the grassroots, through the Heads Up
campaign which was led by The Duke of Cambridge. And through the United for Wildlife taskforces, we have
now trained 80,000 staff across the transport and financial sectors in how to spot and stop illegal wildlife
trafficking and supported dozens of seizures and arrests in the process.
Crucially, last year The Royal Foundation was able to provide urgent mental health support to tens of
thousands of people in the UK, including emergency responders, through our COVID-19 response fund - at
a time when our charity partners were facing extreme funding pressure just as demand for their services
increased.

Mental Health
Following on from the success of The Royal Foundation?s Heads Together partnerships and campaign,
mental health continues to be a focus area for the organisation.
Heads Up
2020 saw us deliver the Heads Up campaign ? a partnership between the FA and The Royal Foundation
that harnessed the power and influence of football to change the conversation on mental health. Whilst
some plans were disrupted due to the pandemic, our work with the FA reached across all areas of football,
from grassroots to the elite level. As a legacy of the Heads Up campaign, The Royal Foundation convened
the UK-wide football family to commit to ensuring that mental health and fitness remains a key priority at all
levels of the game, with the signing of the Mentally Healthy Football Declaration.
To ensure the impact of this work is seen for generations to come, The Royal Foundation continues to sit
alongside the Implementation Group, driving its commitment forward, and working to understand both the
economic impact and social return on football?s investment into mental health.

Heads Together received RESTRICTED FUNDS from donors, In other words, that restricted funds was specifically for a mental health project involving William and Kate Heads Together, especially during the Covid 19 pandemic 2 years, hence we saw the couple doing their rounds and giving that money to, especially NHS!  The NHS and all the mental health programs are in the UK.

Such a young man to take on all the responsibilities of his former position and now this with the Prince and Princess of Wales.  I hope for the very best for this program that Catherine is working on implementing is so important to the country's children.  She really wants to make a difference in how children develop and grow into mature adults.  So much is needed in this world to for children as they often get lost in the shuffle of their parents doing their own thing.

There was a famous British Admiral Benbow in the Royal Navy in the late 17th century. There were quite a number of English pubs named after him in the next century, which shows how well known he was! Benbow is a very unusual surname. Wonder whether the Admiral is James Benbow?s ancestor?

I'd pospone it.  The biggest topic worldwide in all kinds of outlets; massive media to social media is Israel/Palestine war.

IF awareness is primary, it won't get any or a little tiny mention. Either way - it's going to be a little square lost in the last page.
