Good for Charles, this is a great support to Meghan. It's a confirmation Doria is the only family to be at the wedding.

As long as he does not point at things like he does on appearances. It would have been good if Doria walked Meghan halfway up to meet Charles. How is it known she's the only one? If others attended from the family they would not want to replace Doria. Have you seen the guest list wannabe? I doubt you have.

There is no other family member Meghan may ask to escort her down the aisle; godfather, from eldest to youngest uncles or cousins, hence Harry's father will give her away to his own son.

Charles isn't performing the absent father role, that is, 'giving her away' at the altar. The plan when Tom Snr was going to be there was that Doria would be in the car and escort her daughter to the top of the steps of the Chapel. Tom would then take over.

However, Charles isn't playing the 'father' role and giving his future daughter in law away. Meghan will move alone, with her attendants behind, and following the Dean of Windsor, up the aisle as far as the Quire, (where the RF sit.) Charles will then accompany Meghan to the altar only a few feet away. The part of the litergy when the Archbishop asks 'Who giveth this woman to this man' will be absent, as Tom isn't there to do it. Charles will be playing a limited role.

In some overseas locales the groom and bride enter church together, in some the bride walks alone as Meghan will be doing for part of the way, sometimes the bride's mother walks her, but Doria must have been overwhelmed, I'd say.

Again again. I am not not against M and PH. I really, really do want this girl to make it.
I just really wish their wedding ceremony more private, smaller and then it would not , perhaps had the external circus they cannot control.

Getting the part from the Nave to the Altar, Meghan has no choice from her family, hence Charles will do the honor.

When the wedding of Knatchbull, Lord Louis Mountbatten's great granddaughter, Charles did the honor of walking her down, BUT Charles and the Knatchbull's are family first most and then close friends.
