Old-fashioned cannons were rolled out, a battalion stood in position and shots with pékèt — a local alcohol drink — were consumed, as a celebration was held in the streets to mark the visit of the Belgian King and Queen.

Queen Mathilde, who received handshakes, flowers and presents from excited admirers on the street, sported a recycled grey dress combined with a bright yellow short cut jacket from fashion house Natan.

Prior to the festivities, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde paid a visit to a timber company and participated in a roundtable discussion about the development of the timber industry in the province of Namur.
