Yesterday, Royal Central reported that Prince Albert of Monaco had sent his congratulations to Donald Trump after he won the United States presidential election earlier in November. However, he was not the first royal to congratulate Mr Trump. Crown Prince Alexander of Serbia and Yugoslavia sent his congratulations to President-elect Trump the day after the election was over on 9 November.

Melania Trump, the future First Lady of the United States, was born in Yugoslavia (now Slovenia) in 1970.

Crown Prince Alexander wrote in his letter of congratulations:

QuoteTheir Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia held their annual charity bazaar last week. The Crown Prince and Crown Princess officially opened the charity event together, which raised money in support of women refugees and children with special needs. The foundation of Crown Princess Katherine has organised the charity Easter Bazaar for many years. All of them with the aim of helping displaced people, refugees and socially vulnerable people in Serbia. At this year's bazaar, more than 40 women from across the nation exhibited their objects for sale.

The Serbian State Secretary in the Ministry of Labour, Mr Ivanisevic and the Commissioner for Refugees and Migrants of the Republic of Serbia were among the many government officials who participated in the opening of the bazaar. Additionally, representatives of the diplomatic corps and numerous guests from the Serbian cultural elite were also in attendance.

"You can see and enjoy the beautiful handicrafts made by these creative women and their associations. These ladies were forced to leave the safety of their homes and create an alternative life somewhere else, and this year we have the children from two orphanages, from Pancevo and Veternik," said the Crown Princess in her opening speech.

Serbia?s Crown Prince Couple host charity gala at the White Palace ? Royal Central

Another example of a non-reigning royal family who like their peers in Bulgaria and Romania seem to have found a place in their nation's society after decades of exile in the post WWII era.

QuoteOver the weekend, Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia hosted supporters and high representatives of the diplomatic corps, corporate sector, and from the world of sports and arts at the 11th Annual Charity Dinner organized by the BELhospice Center for Palliative Care, at the White Palace in Belgrade. This event was organized with the aim of fundraising for the ongoing work for palliative care and free home care for oncology patients and their families.

Prince Filip with Princess Danica today:

"It has been 87 years since the murder of my great-grandfather King Alexander I. On this occasion, we traditionally gathered in Oplenac. In the church of St. George, Bishop Jovan of Sumadija served the Liturgy and the commemoration of the blessed King, around whose grave a large number of worshipers still gather today."

There?s a short clip on YouTube of the disembarking of King Alexander at Marseille France and his journey in an open car through cheering crowds at the beginning of his State visit to France. Unbelievably the cameras still rolled after his assassination as he lay dying at the back of the vehicle. His assassin was attacked and almost torn to pieces by the angry crowd. Alexander left Yugoslavia rudderless really as his two sons (including his heir Peter) were still very young.

Crown Prince Alexander strongly condemns Kosovo?s actions against ethnic Serbs ? Royal Central

QuoteThis week, the tense situation between Serbia and Kosovo has further escalated following clashes between ethnic Serbs and Kosovo police forces.

The incident has now resulted in Serbian royal reactions. Several Kosovo police officers and ethnic Serb civilians have been injured in clashes that broke out during raids in the northern town of Mitrovica, an area populated mainly by Kosovo?s Serb minority.

Following the latest altercations, Crown Prince Alexander of Serbia has issued the following statement: ?With great sadness and disturbance, I have received the news that Serbs who live under extremely difficult conditions on our sacred land, Kosovo and Metohija, are again under the attack of brutality and violence from the institutions of so-called ?State of Kosovo.?

?We can not stand silent to the casualties of our people, who are trying to live in their centuries-old homes. All they want is what every person in this world deserves ? a chance to have a normal, peaceful life in the place where their ancestors lived for ages. And that fundamental human right is constantly endangering Serbs in Kosovo from the institutions in Pristina. Many times in the past, I visited Kosovo and saw the pain of our people. This is something that will not be tolerated, and nobody can remain silent when the lives and wellbeing of our people are being endangered again and again. It must stop!

?I appeal to all members of the international community to stop this senseless violence and not to be silent about the suffering of the Serbian people. These proud women and men have suffered so much, defending their right to live in the place which was, is, and always will be in the heart of every member of our nation, which is the birthplace of our country and the essence of our spiritual being. This tormenting of innocent people and this mad violence have to end now!?
