My turn to play

The dress: http://tinypic.com/r/2vkjllz/7
which is really this dress http://watters.com/product.php?coll=brides&showid=2541 made modest

shoes: http://www.myglassslipper.com/wedding-shoes/grace-chloe/medium.jpg (because she's not adventurous when it comes to shoes and seems to prefer them pointy

hair: http://www.eanext.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-o-matic/cache/ecae1_updos-roll-call_1_full1.jpg because it's different enough from her normal hair down without being so different it's totally not her style

veil:  http://dlstatic.speedtv.com/imageserve/0cRh5sM4442vk/x350.jpg because it'll be her "something borrowed"

> PHILLIPA LEPLEY

I think Phillipa Lepley is a good choice. Her dresses are pretty and feminine and said to be of superior construction plus she is known for dressing the women of the British upper classes so she has the look down.

I LOVE this dress by Phillipa Lepley. It is gorgeous and understated and very Kate;
LOVE IT!!!!!!!

Just add a significant train and suitable veil and it's perfect IMO.

This one is also by PL and also a suitable style;
Simple with the right balance of classic and modern

> JASPER CONRAN

Jasper Conran is another well-known British designer with an edgier style then Phillipa Lepley. Some of his dresses suit the look I think Kate might appreciate, including the following:
Jasper Conran lace Dresses
(I particularly like the first and second ones, maybe with an added sleeve and obviously a more substantial train)

> OTHER DESIGNERS/STYLE SUGGESTIONS

This is by Raimon Bundo and is also pretty and elegant.

Something like this with a much longer train is a more modest possibility but fits the type of silhouette that would best suit Kate.

Ladybee

:woo: Lovely thread!!! thanks for all these gowns ladies, they are amazing!!

Kate will probably wear a long train with a matching veil, and at least short sleeves (strapless is out of question for a roayl wedding). I hope to see some lace or delicate embroidery for the romantic touch!

About the tiara: I'd love to see her with the Lovers Knot tiara , or the Fringe tiara the Queen wore on her wedding day...

RoyalB

Alixxx, your choices are lovely, especially the first!

Hale

I love all the suggestions here.  Glad I'm not Kate........I wouldn't know which one to choose.

Someone on another royal forum posted this dress, and I thought it was gorgeous.

This dress is beautiful, however there is no way she would have that kind of neckline, the dress is gorgeous though.

Rebound

I love this!  Wedding date for one of my sons is May 21, 2011. I hope Will & Kate don't choose that date! I don't have daughters, but was privileged to help a daughter-in-law shop for a wedding dress, and it was so much fun. I'm sure Mrs. M will be with Kate as she tries on samples, and will be "over the moon." It will be wonderful mother-daughter times.

I'd like to see Kate in heavy lace, and her dress will have to have "presence". One designer suggested a bolero with an attached long train, so she could remove it for her luncheon or whatever. I liked that.

These gowns would be pretty, but they'd need neckline adjustments, and maybe more volume.

This is my favourite

A real statement dress without being too frilly and you could add sleeves if you wanted.  It imho certainly would look beautiful on Kate, as she has the figure and stature to carry it off.  And Rebound, you were certainly very lucky that your future daughter in law allowed you to help her shop for her dress.  I'm the mother of two sons, no daughters and I hope that will happen to me one day too.  Mother of the Groom really has no role in the wedding and sadly for me, I just love weddings.

About her engagement dress

Quote
Department store Harvey Nichols' buying director Averyl Oates told Vogue U.K. that the long-sleeve frock, which costs around $620, had "sold out at [the department store] within hours of the images going live.

"Since the announcement of the royal engagement we have been inundated with requests regarding Issa," he added.

Only style icons like Princess Diana, Carolyn Bessett-Kennedy and, more recently, Michelle Obama, have sparked this kind of fashion frenzy.

Perhaps her wedding dress will also cause a stir.

Countess of Highgrove

Wow I never pictured her engagement dress would cause such a stir. It was perfection on her, though I have to admit. really,I have to say she was perfection head to toe but she could have dressed in a burlap bag and her demeanor would have carried it off. She was just so happy and natural and obviously scared and nervous as hell. Five or six months from now when those nerves settle and she emerges from that  carriage in the wedding dress of the century...well look out world! :hearts:

Jenee

^I am surprised too, only because I didn't like the dress much  I think it would have looked better sleeveless

I really like that one as well, but I don't think Kate has the boobs to pull it off

Here is Phillipa Lepley's site

I must say these dresses are simply divine.

HRHLondon

Will the dress designer be announced? Or only be known after the big day?

Countess of Highgrove

I don't recall if the designer of Diana's dress was announces beforehand but I do recall the dress itself was a big deal and had it's own guards! :o

HRHLondon

^ Yeah! I remember reading that they made 5 copies of the gown, so they had backups if anything happened...And they had to have special garbage disposal for the trimmings.

jjonefifty

I would love to see Kate in a Maggie Soretto dress. I know she can't because it's not a British designer but it looks beautiful

It's interesting that two icons' (Princess Diana and Princess Grace) sons are getting married the same year! THe gowns of Charlene and Kate will both be very much speculated on and later discussed.

Satrine

Charlene will no doubt be wearing something very couture & would not be surprised is Karl Lagerfeld does not design her dress. He dresses most if not all of the Princess from Monaco and is a very close friend to Caroline and Charlotte. Charlene is allowed to dress in expensive couture clothing where as Catherine will looked frowned upon for spending to much money. I think the RF want Catherine to blend in not stand out. Diana only dressed in couture later in her marriage in her life when she was rebelling against the RF treatment of her especially Charles. I am not sure Catherine has the nerve at this point to do something like that, perhaps later though.

I think Philippa Lepley's dresses hit the right notes.

The wedding dress must be with sleeves. I hope there will not be too much lace.

There are some really beautiful dresses at Philippa Lepley's website.
