It  is very important and worthwhile.  Those  teams and  all  involved  think it is important and  it is for them :thanks:.
The D D of Cam will cheer them on and  smile. Take some pictures. Try their  hand  at  the sport.  Shake hands .Make some quips. Haha!! Usualy one "  The Duchess won as she and the Duke are quite a sporty  pair and competitive. Etc."
The Duke  will say, "Well she  is  prettier than I am so they  gave  her,I believe  an advantage...etc."

But......

Sports AGAIN!!!! :wellduh: Easy event AGAIN. Nothing Earth shattering  AGAIN!!!

:goodpost:
I  give myself a  Good Post,  :teehee:

About what?  Being fun?  Why else would they give up 2 days, unless it was for fun?

They are usually in and out like the wind....unless Fun is involved.

I don't think there is anything fun about hospices,  cancer wards, homelessness, injured soldiers, etc. I doubt Kate or Will or Harry do, either. Fun  isn't the agenda.

I find myself always saying the same thing.   At least I am consistent  :hehe:

Commonweath Games bring in tourism, shines light on the locale, promotes healthy lifestyles (or dreams of healthy lifestyles by those sitting at home on the sofa watching them) and it is a big international event.

The games are also a very important unifying activity for the Queen.  Here is something that really demonstates in a fun way, the breadth of her realm.  Only "her" countries are invited.  It shows the whole world the extent of her influence.  And in a way, that these countries  are part of the "in" crowd".  The Queen's own little gang.  :P

As Scotland goes into the independence vote in September, these games may be used to demonstrate the benefits of being part of the Commonwealth.  I realize that Scotland would likely remain part of the Commonwealth as an independent country, but events like this do produce a feeling of well being and community.  And as part of UK, Scotland is part of the big cheese.

It may just seem like W&K&H are just goofing off as spectators, but IMO there is a much more serious reason for their appearance.  Their appearance always has a huge media following.  And the media will bring in the Independence vote angle.  They have an opportunity to demonstrate to Scotland how important Scotland is to UK.

Also, Williams appearance is important to showing to the Commonwealth the future heir to the throne.  They need to do a darn good job in Glasgow in order to continue their popularity.

QuoteThe Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, will attend two days of the 2014 Commonwealth Games accompanied by Prince William's brother Prince Harry.

The British royals will visit the event,  which is being held in Glasgow this year, on the 28 and 29 July during which there will be swimming, athletics, gymnastics, and shooting for them to choose from.

I'll admit I was hoping to see a different outfit on Kate just for fun, since this was her viewing uniform during the Olympics, but you can't argue with how appropriate it is.  And her hair looks like it's back to its best -- I can't get over how gorgeous it is like that.  If I was her, I wouldn't want to cut it, either!

I think she does look more relaxed, but I would guess that's more about the type of event (since she doesn't wear pants to more formal or serious outings).  She looked very relaxed and comfortable at the Harry Potter exhibit even though in a dress, and ditto the times she's visited schools and played sports in dresses.

She looks good.  Same outfit but really, is what she wears all that important?  She is there to support the athletes.  Wills and Harry are wearing the same clothing they always wear.  No one seems to have an issue with that.

If Kate showed up with a new outfit I am sure that there would be comments about how she wastes tax payers money on fashion.

:goodpost: no creativity or imagination when it comes to fashion :(
Her fans are getting angry  (not here) and saying that people want her to become a clothes horse ! Im sorry but right here on the spot I can think of 5 outfits that could be worn for this event that she already owns , therefore not needing to spend money and purchase anything new .

I think she wears similar outfits to these events because she's trying to do a slightly more formal casual look.  The skinny jeans and wedges are casual, but the blazer (and here, collared shirt) ensure she doesn't look underdressed and looks like she put some effort into it.  I wear something similar to work on casual Fridays because I want to be casual, but still look professional.

Well, neither does she.  These are not the same jeans she wore to the polo game with George, or to the Anglesey fair right before she and Will left Wales, or to the field hockey practice with Team GB before the Olympics.  I also remember some other casual pants during the Canadian and Asian tours.  And in addition to the gold-button blazer, I've seen her in jeans and a Smythe blazer (that I covet), a green blazer, and a grey blazer.

Her hair does have its glamour back. I think the key is staying with the chocolate brown and a bit shorter.

No one is upset by Will & Kate whipping out their phone and playing around with it? I found that terribly disrespectful.

All three were looking at the phone (Picture #5), so maybe there was a lull in the activities.  I doubt they'd be so rude as to pull out a phone in the middle of a game and all three of them ignore what was going on below.

I actually don't mind that she wears this outfit (and very similar variations) to the more casual events. It usually means the press write less about her clothes and dedicate more of their reporting to the event at hand - which I believe is a good thing.

QuoteA Very Public Display of Affection for Kate and Wills As They Cheer on Welsh Swimmer at the Commonwealth Games – and They Join in the Fun by Singing Along with the Proclaimers  (VIDEO)

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made a very public display of affection today as they cheered on a Welsh swimmer during their visit to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.Donning a blue top, jeans and wedges, Kate clasped the hand of her husband Prince William before laying her hand on his leg as they watched Jazz Carlin win the 800m freestyle gold medal at Tollcross Swimming Centre.

Earlier in the day, the royal couple, who were joined by Prince Harry, were spotted singing along to the chorus of the Proclaimers' I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) track between rotations at the Games, which were opened by The Queen last week and have attracted huge crowds.

But Kate's cheerful singing soon turned to wincing and gasps of horror as they watched English boxer Scott Fitzgerald and Azumah Mohammed of Ghana slugging it out in the ring of the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC).

Positives:

I'm glad she's cut her hair.  It's nothing major, but cutting off the dead ends can do wonders for your hair and its health
I'm also glad she dyed it a darker brown.  It really makes her eyes pop when it's a darker color, and it works better with her skin tone.
I actually think her skin looks better too.  She looks well rested.

Cons:

Look, I have no problems with her recycling anything, but those jeans, wedges, and that blazer have got to go.  Those jeans don't flatter her at all.  All they do is emphasize both how skinny her legs are, and how muscular the thighs are.  And it shows that she doesn't have long legs in comparison with her height.  She should wear something like this: Straight Jean, Worn Dark | American Eagle Outfitters (http://www.ae.com/web/browse/product_details.jsp?productId=0435_8262_885&catId=cat20108&bundleCatId=cat7010298)

And instead of the wedges, perhaps something like this: Jack Rogers Delfino Gold Fleck Cork - Zappos.com Free Shipping BOTH Ways (http://www.zappos.com/jack-rogers-delfino-gold-fleck-cork)

And you know what?  Leave the jacket at home.  Or burn it.  Cause I hate that thing.

Prince William, his wife Kate and Prince Harry enjoyed a whistle-stop tour of the Games venues yesterday, watching gymnastics, boxing, hockey and swimming in a busy afternoon.
The young royals arrived at Hampden Park today, where the afternoon's athletics schedule will see athletes including English triple-jumper Greg Rutherford, Scottish hurdler Eilidh Child and Kenyan runner David Rudisha compete.

To me she doesn't have to wear different outfits every time her outfits are very expensive so it would be horrible if she wore outfits one time just to throw them away ... what is weird to me though is that I always imagined designers gave her things for free a wear it just one time to showcase it thing ...

Eri, I've read that she doesn't accept free clothing from designers.

I thought it was a nice touch that her dress today perfectly matched the SportsAid shirts worn in the group picture.  And while the Corkswoon shoes aren't my favourite either, I think it's nice to see her rewear the blazer/shoes/purse/jewelry on consecutive days and yet totally change up her look with the pants vs. dress.

QuoteKate's Jumping for Joy! Duchess Takes Part in a Game of 'Three Tins' during Visit to Athlete's Village at Commonwealth Games

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took part in traditional games as they visited the athletes' village at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games today.

Kate, who met some of the host nation's medal winners at Team Scotland's accommodation, listened as a child explained the rules of 'three tins'.  It involves knocking down three tins with a ball before running in to the middle of the square, rebuilding them and hopping over the tins three times.

She cheered as she knocked the tins over and smiled after completing the task. Prince William later faced Harry in opposing teams in the same game.

The royals, along with Usain Bolt, also chatted and posed for photographs as hundreds of people gathered to catch a glimpse of them.

I'm glad the trio split up today-- I do think they should try to spread themselves around as much as possible, since they're only there three days.

I really like Kate's outfit today. However, two notes on her wardrobe the past two days:
1) If she was going to be jumping and playing today, perhaps the jeggings would have been a more appropriate choice, and she could have worn the dress yesterday. Also, if she was planning on participating, she should not wear those wedges. There is a tumble waiting to happen.
2) With the jeggings yesterday, one of the commonwealth polo shirts would have been a lovely and appropriate way to support the games.

She can only expect what she's told.  She may have been told she'd be walking around and mingling with the athletes, but not specifically told that they might want her to play active games.  Perhaps no one knew what the athletes would ask of her, or if they would ask anything at all.  I give her the benefit of the doubt, since we don't know the facts.  And because knowing that she's into sports, she surely would know how to dress appropriately if she thought she'd be running and jumping.

The Duke of Cambridge has personally thanked Glasgow 2014 staff for delivering the "best ever" Commonwealth Games.  Prince William was the surprise guest of honour at a wrap party for around 1,500 people who helped make the Games happen.

He took to the stage at the event in Glasgow's Merchant Square to tell the guests it was a "huge honour" to join them to celebrate a "job well done".

Referring to his visit to the Games with the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, he said: "When Katherine, Harry and I visited last week we saw the slogan People Make Glasgow. It was written all over the city.

"You epitomise that slogan in the way that you ran the Games - with professionalism and great care, allowing the Games' friendliness to shine through.
