QuoteBelgian sculptor Delphine Boël has gone to court to win official recognition as the natural daughter of Belgium's King Albert II, reports said Monday.

Boël, 45, has filed a suit requiring King Albert, his heir Prince Philippe and daughter Princesse Astrid to appear in a Brussels court, palace spokesman Bruno Neve de Mevergnies told AFP.

Another son, Laurent, was not mentioned in the suit.

I wonder how her mother and stepfather feel about this and the real purpose behind this now... :orchid:

I had to wonder what were the circumstances that lead her to believe she's the King's daughter.  Her mother must have said something to her at some point.  The King did admit that there was trouble in his marriage 30 years ago, so who knows?  Every now and then, a stray child shows up and is proven to be right ... Norah Jones (Ravi Shankar's daughter), Liv Tyler (Stephen Tyler's daughter), Jett Williams (Hank Williams' daughter) ... they all found out their parentage when they were adults.

Liv Tyler is the only one I am familiar with, in terms of her having talked about it. She wanted a relationship with her father and needed to know beyond all doubt as she didn't know growing up. This is so public though. Did her mother just tell her now? Does she want a relationship with her father? Did he know? Why drag his other children to court and not just her father? Her father's DNA should be evidence enough...

Apparently, she's only included two of the King's children in her suit, for some reason.  She's hoping to get an order for DNA test, but who knows if the court will comply.  She does resemble him, so it could be true.

What I don't understand is why is she dragging two of his other children into court as well...

BC, she was originally asking for a DNA comparison.  I suppose, since no crime has been committed, the King cannot be forced to submit a sample, though.

I hope she gets the DNA for testing, if the King has nothing to hide why should he worry.
