Thai Princess gives up her royal title

In late November, the Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn requested the government to strip his wife's family of their royal titles following seven of her close relatives were arrested.

Then late on Friday, a statement released by the Royal Thai Government Gazette reported that the Thai Princess Srirasmi Akharapongpreecha, the third wife of the Crown Prince, has given up her royal title, reports the Bangkok Post.

"The King has granted permission to announce that Princess Srirasmi, the wife of Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, has informed in a written document that she has resigned from her royal status," the statement read, meaning that from now on, the Thai Princess will simply be known as Srirasmi Suwadee.
