On Monday, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima held a meeting with representatives of organizations, social groups, and initiatives in the Netherlands regarding the situation in Israel and the Palestinian Territories.

On social media, the Royal Couple said: ?We spoke today with those involved in the Netherlands about the terrible situation in Gaza and Israel. They shared with us their sorrow over the immense human suffering, their fear of societal responses, and their feelings of insecurity. We also talk about the hope for understanding and respect for each other and the persistent effort needed for that. New portraits of the King and Queen of the Netherlands show them in the year that Willem-Alexander marked the tenth anniversary of his reign.The photos were taken in September 2023 at Noordeinde Palace by Anton Corbijn and released in November 2023.

Willem-Alexander became King of the Netherlands on April 30th 2013 on the abdication of his mother, now Princess Beatrix. Events have been held throughout the year to mark the first decade of his reign.
