This might be a first for members of a reigning royal family. The eldest daughter of Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentian, Countess Eloise has appeared in a Dutch reality show that could be best described as famous people from the Netherlands are "fugitives" and a team tries to apprehend them. Her parents make an appearance too.  :duel:

Former Queen and now Princess Beatrix (83) has tested positive for COVID 19. Hope that HRH will make a speedy and full recovery.

Here's the official announcement (in Dutch) https://twitter.com/koninklijkhuis/status/1467228066179166219

QuoteThe former Queen, Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands (age 83) has tested positive for the Coronavirus, after having mild symptoms.

Beatrix had both the vaccine & booster shots. She is self-isolating and people with whom she has had close contact have been notified.

Curryong

Princess Beatrix has only the lightest symptoms, which is good, though even feeling sniffly and woolly headed isn?t the best when you?re in your 80s. Wishing her a quick recovery in time for Xmas.

TLLK

@Curryong-Very glad to know that her symptoms are mild. My best friend's mother is of a similar age and like Beatrix is fully vaccinated with a booster but still developed mild symptoms and tested positive. She's doing well now but it was still surprising.

I wonder if this is the Omicron variant as the Netherlands was one of the first nations that it was found to be present.

Her son W-A gave an update on her health today.

King Willem Alexander gives an update on Princess Beatrix?s health ? Royal Central

QuoteEarlier in December, Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands was diagnosed with Covid-19. King Willem-Alexander has now given an update on his mother?s health. Despite her coronavirus infection, Princess Beatrix is doing well.

King Willem Alexander said: ?Fortunately, nothing is wrong at all. Only she had a bit of a cold, she thought it was the air conditioning in the tropics. She is in very good spirits for the rest, so it is all fantastic. On behalf of her, I thank everyone very much for the compassion and good wishes, but she is doing great?.

On December 4th 2021, it was announced that the princess had tested positive for coronavirus after her return from Curacao and that she had gone into quarantine. On November 29th, Her Royal Highness had returned from a visit to Curacao. She previously announced that she has had two coronvirusa vaccinations and a third booster vaccine. During the visit to Cura?ao, Princess Beatrix paid particular attention to the consequences of the pandemic and nature conservation on the island.

A great deal of concern has been expressed that the 83-year-old princess has tested positive for coronavirus. Her son?s comments have offered some relief as it appears she is now on the road to recovery.

Glad Beatrix is home and doing well  :flower3:

At her age even a mild case could be concerning.

Alexia is home from Wales for Christmas break with the family.

Yes, this is excellent news. Even a mild case could have sent Prss Beatrix?s temperature soaring at times which is never a good thing at any age but especially not in one?s eighties.

Glad to see that Alexia (who really seems to have settled in at Atlantic College, is home for Xmas. Wonder what next term will bring? !!

I agree that this historic carriage should not be used in the future considering its depictions of slavery. It can go into an exhibit at one of the palaces open to the public with an explanation of its history and the reasons why it was retired from the Royal Mews.
QuoteThe Dutch king, Willem-Alexander, has announced that he is mothballing ? at least for now ? the royal golden coach which has been embroiled in a racism controversy.

The opulent horse-drawn carriage, called De Gouden Koets, has traditionally transported the Dutch monarch to the opening of parliament and other state occasions, but has not been used since 2015.

At the centre of the slavery controversy is a picture on the left-side panel of the golden coach.

Called ?Tribute of the Colonies?, the image depicts kneeling black people handing over produce like cocoa and sugarcane to their white masters ? including to a young white woman on a throne representing the Netherlands.

Next to her, a young white man is seen giving a young black boy a book as he is presented by his subservient father, an image which painter Nicolaas van der Waay in 1896 said was meant to portray ?civilisation?.

?We cannot rewrite the past,? the Dutch king said an official video.

But ?we can try to accept it together. This also applies to the colonial past,? he added.

?The Gouden Koets can only be used when the Netherlands is ready for it. And that is not the case at the moment,? he continued.

LouisFerdinand

There had been a mention that the panels could be replaced with plain ordinary panels. If this would occur, how expensive would it be to remove the original panels and replace them with the new ones?

QuoteThe Royal House of the Netherlands has announced new dates for King Willem-Alexander and Queen M?xima?s State Visit to Greece.

The visit has been postponed twice in the past year. Initially, the royals were supposed to be in Greece in late 2021, but the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic forced plans to be changed.

The visit was then supposed to occur in March, but the outbreak of the war in Ukraine prompted another last-minute postponement.

The RVD (Government Information Service) has announced that the King and Queen will travel to Greece between the 31st of October and the 2nd of November.

The visit will be carried out at the invitation of the Greek president, Ms Katerina Sakellaropoulou, and will focus on issues such as international cooperation (both countries are NATO members) and migrations.

The royal couple will visit Athens and Thessaloniki, the country?s second-largest city on the Thermaic Gulf and one of the biggest ports in Eastern Europe.

Further details of the visit?s schedule were not included in this latest press release and will be announced in due course.

This will probably be the first flight for King Willem-Alexander. He has recently had to renounce to the planned economic mission to the United States due to recovery from pneumonia that would be aggravated by aerial travel.

Queen M?xima is currently in northern California and will travel to Texas before going home; given her husband?s absence, she is now leading the delegation of state authorities and private business delegates travelling in the US.

Despite their geographic and cultural differences, the Netherlands and Greece share excellent diplomatic relations, which probably come partially from being two waterfront nations and therefore being at the forefront of maritime industries, such as commerce and energy production.

This will be the King and Queen?s first time back in Greece after the holiday they had to cut short in October 2020 due to mounting criticism for violating stay-at-home orders during the second wave of the pandemic.

Adding a third royal that has needed recent surgery.Princess Beatrix has broken her wrist while skiing in Lech, Austria. (The Dutch royals have skied there annually for generations and this is where the late Prince Friso did have his accident.) Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery. She can send messages to Margrethe and Carl Gustav as they recover too.

Found this elsewhere,

According to a Dutch royal website, princess Alexia of the Netherlands is keeping in touch with prince Christian of Denmark through their mobile phones.  :flower: Not hinting anything, but, fast forward five years or so perhaps?..
