The Duchess of Edinburgh this afternoon attended the Women in Scotland Luncheon at the Radisson Blu Glasgow, 301 Argyle Street, Glasgow, and was received by Mr John MacLeod (Deputy Lieutenant of the City of Glasgow).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, later met members of the Debra Edinburgh Community at Virgin Hotels Edinburgh, 1 India Buildings, Victoria Street, Edinburgh, and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor Robert Aldridge, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost).

The Duchess of Edinburgh, Colonel-in-Chief, Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps, this evening attended a Dinner at Edinburgh Castle to celebrate the Corps' Seventy Fifth Anniversary.

Toward the end of his reign, King Frederick II of Prussia physically connected most of his realm by acquiring Polish territories in the First Partition of Poland.

Poland must be one of the most unfortunate geographically placed countries in recorded history. I have always been so glad that I was born and have lived on islands, including an island continent. No chance of nearby foreign nations slithering over into the country, acquiring some of this and bits of that by any and all means possible. With apologies to all who've had it done to them by GB!
