Was it Princess Diana who prompted the departure of Edward Adeane?

From royalcentrals website,

Upon the marriage of Charles and Diana, Adeane was appointed the Diana's treasurer in 1981.

In 1984, Adeane was given an additional job as the private secretary to the then Princess of Wales after Oliver Everett resigned.

Adeane resigned on 31 March 1985 after disputes and allegations that he was making decisions without consulting Charles.

He was Equerry to Prince Charles from 1979-1981 and an Extra Equerry from 1985.

Adeane would represent Charles at Royal Household Memorial services and he returned to practise at the Bar.

His departure initiated a period of uncertainty for the coming years. He was replaced by Sir John Riddell.

Adeane lost the prince's favour, but he remained a regular guest of the Queen Mother at Birkhall each September for the Grouse shooting season.

Adeane was appointed a CVO in 1985.

Adeane is survived by his companion, Brent Snape.

"No other member of the Royal Family mattered that year, or I think for the next 17 years, it was just her." Arthur Edwards, The Sun Photographer, talking about Diana's impact.
