King Carl Gustaf awarded Bernadotte scholarships.

The Royal Academies instituted the so-called Bernadotte program on the occasion of the King's 70th birthday in 2016. At a ceremony in the Bernadotte Library, this year's scholarship recipients were presented.

The King is the patron of the academies and the first honorary member.

The Swedish Royal Family pulled out all the stops for the first day of the Finnish State Visit, a crucial engagement that comes when the two nations have officially begun the process of obtaining full NATO membership.

The official welcome took place at the Royal Stables, where Finnish President Sauli Niinist? and First Lady Jenni Haukio met with King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. From there, the royal and presidential couples started a carriage tour of the streets of Stockholm before returning to the Royal Palace.

Many members of the public took to the streets of Sweden?s capital to welcome the Finnish President, and some were even granted access to the courtyard of the Royal Palace, where King Carl XVI Gustaf and President Niinst? inspected a grenadier company from the Life Guards before the national anthems of both nations were played.

The King and Queen of Sweden have visited the Swedish Red Cross headquarters for an important cause.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia travelled to the S?dermalm headquarters to hear more about the organisation?s efforts to help Ukraine.

The King and Queen spoke to Swedish Red Cross delegate Louise Ulveland, who had recently been stationed in Lviv, Ukraine. She is an expert in sanitation and water and helped with a project to improve the living conditions of the displaced people inside Ukraine.

They also visited the care centre to talk to nurses who provide care to migrants who are outside the safety net of society.

The Swedish Court welcomed the King and Queen of The Netherlands. Princess Estelle joined in at the welcome luncheon as KWA is her Godfather.  The royal ladies did not disappoint with their jewelry at the State Dinner.

Princess Estelle is sooooooooooo cute.  I can't believe she is so tall and with lovely blonde hair as I remember the day she was born.  Oh Victoria and Daniel are teaching her the meaning of her future life in a way that will help her grow into being a Queen someday.  I just love how she is learning about her heritage and yet can be a little girl at the same time.  I hope for a very bright future for her and the family.

I recently learned that KCG and CPssV both have Dutch monarchs or would be monarchs as a Godparent. KCG had the late Queen Julianna. CPssV's Godmother is Princess Beatrix and of course Estelle's is KW-A. The Princess of Orange has Victoria as one of her Godmothers.

Yes, the Dutch monarchs and heirs have certainly been more generous in terms of godparentage to other royals than have the BRF?s for example. As has CPss Victoria of Sweden of course.

Back on my high horse again about the BRF virtually separating themselves from other royals since the Second World War but it?s true. It was really noticeable during the late Queen?s reign and that of her father (and son) and I think a real opportunity has been lost. It?s always been attributed to the QM?s influence and I wouldn?t be surprised, actually.

Business as usual as King Carl XVI Gustaf welcomes Sweden?s new PM ? Royal Central

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden have attended a change of government council was held at the Royal Palace in Stockholm.

The King ceremoniously declared the change of government complete at the special meeting at the Royal Palace on October 18th 2022. During the historic meeting with the new government, the Parliament President introduced to the royals the new Swedish Prime Minister, Ulf Kristersson, from the Conservative Party.

The Prime Minister then presented his new ministers to the King and Crown Princess at the ceremony. The new prime minister leads the first liberal-conservative government in Sweden in eight years.

The Swedish monarch also gave a speech in which he humorously said: ?Both governments and rulers come and go. Although with slightly different lengths of intervals. Something that remains, however, is the Swedish democracy, where citizens have enjoyed equal rights and universal voting rights for more than a century.?

The Swedish King continued: ?Unfortunately, we don?t have to look that far into the world to see that democracy is not a matter of course, but something that must be protected. Every day. Today, October 18, 2022, a new government for Sweden takes office. This takes place after a parliamentary election that was free, secret and direct, in accordance with the constitution. This adds yet another link to the chain that is the history of Swedish democracy.?
