Welcome to the new thread for the King and Queen's  official overseas tours and visits starting Oct. 1, 2021.

The old thread can be found here.

At the request of the British Government, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will visit The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and The Arab Republic of Egypt from 16th - 19th November.

The tour will focus on the climate crisis and will explore how leaders can implement commitments following COP26.

Interesting, there are several RR's who knew this since beginning of September, stating that the Cambridge's will be in the UK fronting with the Queen the Remembrance events.

TudorQueen

That seems pure speculation by RR even with the news of the tour. The RRs are constantly pushing them forward.

Remembrance is November 11, 5 days before the tour starts. There is no reason to think Charles and Camilla can't do both. They usually leave a day before their tour (more if a further destination like Australia especially Camilla) but that still leaves a generous gap.

I guess we will see.

Anyways I look forward to seeing this trip. I enjoy seeing these two on tour.

QuoteHis office, Clarence House, said the visit to Jordan, which will include a welcome from Jordanian King Abdullah and Queen Rania, was to mark Jordan's centenary and the importance the British government placed on its relationship with the Middle Eastern nation.

"The prince will focus on environmental issues, inter-faith dialogue, heritage preservation and the creation of jobs and opportunities for young people," Clarence House said. "The duchess will continue her commitment to supporting women, as well as girls? education."

The tour will conclude with a visit to Egypt which coincides with the end of Britain's hosting of the United Nations climate change summit COP26 and Egypt's nomination to assume the COP27 presidency, Charles's office said.

During the trip, the royals will meet President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and the Grand Imam of Egypt?s al-Azhar.

Glad to see that the BRF are continuing to undertake overseas visits in 2021. I'm sure that the Hashemite Royals in Jordan will give them a very warm welcome.

Here's the PoW and DssoC being welcomed by TM in 2013 which I believe was the last time the pair were in Jordan for an official visit. Charles was there solo in 2015.

@TudorQueen -Yes I agree that the PoW and the DssoC would likely be present for Remembrance Day 2021.

The British Government pays ALL the tour expenses. Charles and Camilla are travelling in behalf of HM Government.

Yes. Has anyone suggested otherwise? It?s an official tour. Not likely to happen in Jordan though the  Egyptian govt  is a bit more iffy, whenever these visits occur to any of the Arab kingdoms questions are raised about human rights abuses and/or the personal responsibilities of many of the rulers and their families that the BRF is so close to.

Just a little look at Egypt btw, below. Perhaps Charles can raise some of these issues, in between meeting and dining with the religious and political leaders of course.

?In 2020, Freedom House ranked Egypt as "Not Free" in its annual Freedom in the World report. It gave Egypt a "Political Rights" score of 7/40 and a "Civil Liberties" score of 14/60, with a total score of 21/100.[4] The same year, Reporters Without Borders ranked Egypt at 166th place in its annual Press Freedom Index.[5]

See List of indices of freedom for more information on these ratings and how they are determined.

The US Department of State "2019 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices" listed the following problems in Egypt:

Significant human rights issues included: unlawful or arbitrary killings, including extrajudicial killings by the government or its agents and terrorist groups; forced disappearance; torture; arbitrary detention; harsh and life-threatening prison conditions; political prisoners; arbitrary or unlawful interference with privacy; the worst forms of restrictions on free expression, the press, and the internet, including arrests or prosecutions against journalists, censorship, site blocking, and the existence of unenforced criminal libel; substantial interference with the rights of peaceful assembly and freedom of association, such as overly restrictive laws governing civil society organizations; restrictions on political participation; violence involving religious minorities; violence targeting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) persons; use of the law to arbitrarily arrest and prosecute LGBTI persons; and forced or compulsory child labor.[6]?

Oh yes, I believe around 25 media are out there.

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall have arrived in Amman in Jordan. It's the first major overseas royal tour since the start of the Covid pandemic. They'll spend two days in Jordan before flying to Egypt.

Good to see CP Hussein involved in these visits with incoming foreign guests. He did have a low key event with William during the latter's 2018 visit to Israel, Jordan and the Palestinian Territories, but this seems to be taking it to a more senior level. His own father didn't have the same opportunites to prepare for his future role at that age, as he was not the designated heir to the throne at that time.

I?ve read elsewhere that the Jordan river water was to stock up for future royal baptisms, though presumably not more grandkids for C and C. Apparently they will be bringing six dozen bottles home, so that should cover Eugenie and Bea?s future offspring!
