Racing fans were joined by Zara Phillips, who arrived at the track in a navy custom-made Paul Costelloe funnel-neck wool coat.

She teamed the button-up jacket with a snakeskin clutch by the same desinger. And finished off the look with closed-toe heels, a hat festooned with spiral details and oversized sunglasses.

Chic in a navy blue coat and a matching hat, Zara Tindall cut a glamorous figure as she arrived for the first day of the Cheltenham Festival this morning.  Making the most of the Spring sunshine, the 33-year-old was all smiles as she strolled through the vast crowds with friends before taking a seat in a private box.

Topping off her look was a stylish cloche hat by milliner Rosie Olivia, which matched the bespoke dark wool coat by London Fashion Week favourite, Irish designer Paul Costelloe.

The mother-of-one is a regular sight at Cheltenham and attended the races on all four days of the festival last year.

Purchased by husband Mike Tindall for £12,000, the horse finished in a respectable seventh place at Aintree last year - all the better given that Zara initially thought the animal was a dud.

Resplendent in a navy coat with a fur collar and carrying a bag by Irish designer Paul Costelloe, Zara Tindall happily posed with fans for some silly selfies this afternoon as she enjoyed a third day of racing action at Cheltenham.

Earlier the pair had been spotted glued to their own smartphones as they arrived at the St Patrick's Day event.

Tindall, a former rugby player, and Zara were both chatting away on their mobiles although both put their phones away once they got inside and the racing action kicked off.

How did Princess Anne Get From St Paul's Cathedral to Cheltenham Festival in 80Minutes?

Coneygree may have won the Cheltenham Gold Cup, but the Princess Royal showed an impressive turn of speed herself by arriving at the race meeting just 80 minutes after leaving St Paul's Cathedral today.

While other members of the Royal family were meeting Afghanistan veterans and their families after the service of commemoration, Princess Anne was hot-footing it to Cheltenham, where she had a long-standing commitment to present the Gold Cup.

She left St Paul's Cathedral at 11.50am for a journey that takes 2 hours 24 mins, according to the AA, even without a police escort.  That would given the Princess time to get to Cheltenham by road, but instead she used the Queen's Flight helicopter, which got her there at 1.10pm.

It meant the Princess, 64, who had even had time to change out of her military uniform before leaving London, arrived at Cheltenham in time for the first race at 1.30.
