@Curryong-Keep your eyes open for CPss Mary stories and sightings in Australia. She's currently in Melbourne on a private trip and was photographed with long time friend Amber Petty.

Will do. There?s nothing much at the moment apart from what you?ve posted, but if rumours are correct that Fred and Christian are with her on a brief visit, photographers might be out in coming days.

Mary was seen going to and from Hobart (on the island of Tasmania) to visit relatives there by Qantas staff before she came to Melbourne. Apparently staff must have given Channel 7 a tip-off that she was here in Oz and in Melbourne as there was a bit of banter about it on 7s morning show.

Sorry that we can't fund a trip for you @Curryong to Tasmania or any other location around the country so you can follow the Danish royals.  Unfortunately this is the maximum that our budget will allow.   :RAFWilliam:  :hula: Though we're adding the hula skirt as a bonus.  :yesss:

Curryong

Thank you for the hula skirt! I don?t know whether Fred or Christian are even here actually. There were early reports that they were, but nobody?s seems to have seen them.

Few Aussies (including me and the family) are travelling interstate much at the moment however, to Tassie or anywhere else. The long lockdowns here have had a really strange effect that we were discussing at home the other evening. It?s as if we are all like animals that have been locked in a cage (our homes) for so long that there?s almost a distrust of going anywhere new or even places anybody?s been before (like Tassie which I?ve visited five times over the years.)

It?s weird, this Covid effect. TV Ads are announcing cuts in business class airfares, ferry fares to Tasmania and some overseas bargains to places like Bali and Fiji but it doesn?t seem to be moving people outside of maybe visiting Melbourne. Of course the devastating floods in NSW and Queensland have had an effect and by June winter will be upon us. Perhaps we?ll all get over it by later this year.

I've been waiting for an article in English about this troubling story. It's been a source of discussion at the big royal forum where there are Danish posters. I'm saddened to read these allegations and hope that now that it has been brought to light, that this will be a first step in ending the abuse that has allegedly been going on for decades if not longer. Prince Joachim's eldest son, Prince Nikolai  also attended this institution.

The Crown Prince and Princess of Denmark react to shocking documentary on son?s school ? Royal Central

QuoteHerlufsholm school in Denmark is a prestigious boarding school, where several members of the Danish royal family have spent years of their education. Currently, the future King of Denmark, His Royal Highness Prince Christian, is attended the school.

However, the Danish TV-channel TV2 has broadcast a documentary ?Herlufsholm?s secrets?, where several former students describe a violent culture with abuse and bullying in the school.

The documentary, shown on May 5th 2022, presented stories from about 50 former students, including several alleging a culture of bullying and violence at the school.

It must be emphasized that Prince Christian is not associated with the cases. Still, the shocking descriptions in the documentary have caused the Crown Prince and Crown Princess to react as parents to Prince Christian, who is still attending the school.

On the Danish royal family?s Instagram, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary say: ?As parents of a child who goes to Herlufsholm, we are deeply shaken by the testimonies that emerge in the current documentary about the school. It is heartbreaking to hear about systematic bullying and about the culture of abuse and violence that many have been a part of. That is completely unacceptable. As parents, we expect the school to effectively ensure a culture where everyone is safe and part of the community, and we will in the coming time follow the changes that are obviously necessary?.
The school has said on its website that it has launched in ?independent investigation? into the allegations.

Prince Nikolai of Denmark attended 10th grade at Herlufsholm School and received his upper secondary education there as well. The Danish Royal Court announced earlier this year that in the fall of this year, Princess Isabella of Denmark is set to start at Herlufsholm School.

Herlufsholm School is a private day and boarding about 80 kilometres south of Copenhagen. There are about 600 students at the school of which approximately 275 students are boarders. The pupils follow a 10-day programme with lessons on Saturdays followed by 3-day weekends.

Yes, so have I, TLLK. This elite school appears to have been founded on British boarding school traditions, including dorms and a prefect system, all of which facilitates a certain amount of bullying. There were complaints about the general atmosphere at Herlufsholm and this documentary was the cherry on top so to speak.

What I can?t understand is that Mary and Fred continued to support the school by placing not only Christian there but more recently an announcement was made that Isabella would join him next. I suppose though that it resembles royal behaviour in the wake of Charles?s sufferings at Gordonstoun. His brothers and nephew followed him there, nonetheless, (and seemed to enjoy it.)

However, Mary and Fred are more modern parents than the Queen and PP and I hoped things had changed in the last decades with that sort of thing. Fred did have quite a bleak childhood himself of course. Many of their friends from the Danish elite had sent their children there and apparently recommended it to the CP couple. Joachim?s older son was also a pupil.

As stated, the headmaster was clinging on to his post but has now been sacked. Reforms like single bedrooms and the abolition of the prefect system have been installed.

Scandal at Prince Christian?s school could be debated in Denmark?s parliament   ? Royal Central

QuoteThe Prime Minister of Denmark has called for a debate in parliament over allegations of bullying at one of the country?s top schools, currently being attended by Prince Christian.

The problems at Herlufsholm were exposed in a documentary on Danish TV2 which revealed allegations of bullying and harassment.

Following the documentary, the school?s principal was fired. The school board announced that they no longer want the principal to continue in his position as the documentary has clearly shown a lack of desire in the management to deal with the culture at the school.

It should be emphasised that there are no indications that Prince Christian of Denmark has been a victim of bullying and harassment, nor that the Prince has been involved in such behaviour.

The same evening that the documentary was shown on Danish television, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary made a public statement. They strongly dissociated themselves from what had happened at their son?s school. After this, there has been another royal reaction. Countess Alexandra, mother of Prince Nikolai, has also commented on the school. Prince Nikolai, who is also the son of Prince Joachim, previously attended school.

To the Danish press, Countess Alexandra stated: ?I am deeply shaken, because my son has only good memories from his school days at Herlufsholm.?

CPss Mary laid the foundation stone for the future Mary Elizabeth Hospital in Copenhagen.

HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark Lays the Foundation Stone for the Mary Elizabeth Hospital in Copenhagen. |

QuoteOn Monday, May 30, 2022, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark laid the foundation stone for the Mary Elizabeth Hospital for Children, Adolescents, and Pregnant Women at the Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen.

According to a press release from the Rigshospitalet, the new Mary Elizabeth Hospital will be:

?Denmark?s highly specialized hospital for children, young people, pregnant women, and their families. The hospital will create a safe and homely atmosphere with space for patients and their families lives and needs due to the vulnerable situation they are in.

Mary Elizabeth?s Hospital will be developed so that the specialists come to the patients. Today, you sometimes have to be examined in many different places in the hospital. At Mary Elizabeth?s Hospital, all examination rooms are located in the same place, and this will provide a calmer and more coherent process.?

Certainly any bullying is reprehensible. What I find a bit puzzling though is that Joachim?s elder sons were educated at this school and loved it, and their mother apparently recommended it to the Crown Prince couple, as did several older friends whose children also attended Herlufsholm.
