Interesting to read the history of the Royal Marines and it's ironic that it was founded during the reign of Charles II. It seems fitting that a Royal Navy veteran is again the Captain General. The announcement being made on the 358th anniversary of the founding of the Royal Marines is a nod to its distinguished role in protecting the UK. I appreciate that he acknowledges that he follows in the footsteps of his many family members who served as Captain General.

A fitting choice to have the Queen Consort as the new Colonel as the Duke of Edinburgh was a previous holder of that role.

So I expect that at the Trooping the Color we'll see three members on horseback- KCIII-Techincally the Head of all Armed Forces, PoW-Welsh Guards, PssR-Blues and Royals
In the carriages would be the following:
Grenadier Guards-QC
Irish Guards-PssoW
Scots Guards-DoK (I could see the EoW taking this role one day.)

I believe that this is her first engagement with the Grenadier Guards since she assumed the new appointment.

The Queen Consort today welcomed members of the Queen's Own Rifles of Canada (QORC) to Buckingham Palace.

Her Majesty was presented with the Canadian Forces' Decoration in recognition of her 12 years of service as the Regiment's Colonel-in-Chief. -

The Royal Army Chaplains? Department was established in 1796 to care for the Army?s spiritual needs. It expanded rapidly during the Crimean War where 26,000 troops were originally deployed with just one chaplain. Ultimately, sixty chaplains would be deployed.

Until 1827, only members of the Church of England could be part of the department. Catholic chaplains were recruited from the mid 19th century along with Methodist and Presbyterian leaders. Jewish chaplains joined from 1892 onwards.
