The Duchess of Cambridge and US First Lady Jill Biden visited a school in Cornwall on Friday, as leaders of the G7 arrived for a summit.

Jill and Kate met 4- and 5-year-olds at Connor Downs Academy in Hayle, England.

Biden is a longtime English teacher who focuses on education, as does Kate, a mother of three young children.

The pair are also scheduled to participate in a roundtable discussion on early childhood education, according to White House officials.

Certainly a tailor made visit for both of them - Kates Early Years and Dr Jills education. It was a nice visit. And it is so nice seeing the spouse of the American president engaged, interested and enthusiastic about doing things like this. Dr Jill is a treasure.

I?m not certain that handing over a sword to the 95 year old is the best idea. Cams looked like she was a bit worked up about the idea, also. Especially when QE pushed down on the sharp edge of the sword to cut the cake. It just doesn?t do to have the monarch lose several fingers and bleed all over the cake.

The Queen was presented with a giant cake in Cornwall to celebrate her official birthday.

Joined by the Duchesses of Cambridge and Cornwall, Her Majesty toured the Eden Project.

The botanical garden in Cornwall is currently hosting world leaders for the G7 summit.

After being shown around the centre, the Queen was offered the chance to cut her cake.

Despite a traditional knife being available, Her Majesty went for a more unorthodox method, using a ceremonial sabre to do the honours.

I could do with some scones with clotted cream and raspberry jam right about now.

I?m rather taken back with the fact that US took over several helicopters. How do those travel - a hurc? And it seems odd that they would land at Heathrow on the plane then take a helicopter the short distance to Windsor. But I guess it is the fastest and safest way.
