Hi. I'm sorry to bug whomever reads this topic but I was bored tonight so I was looking through September's issue of Vanity Fair (the one with Young and Royal that has Prince William on the cover). Anyways, I came across some of the younger royals and I couldn't remember ever hearing about them. I typed in each of their names and seached for websites on them but nothing really came up except for sites about their fathers or other royals. So, I was wondering if anyone knew of any websites that had pictures and info on Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg(born in 1981), Prince Ernst August of Hanover(born in 1983), and Prince Boris of Montenegro(born in 1980)? Thanks for anyone's help.  :D

THAT IS SUCH A WEIRD COOINCIDENCE! I was just now looking on this forum to see if there was anything written about Princess Natalia Strozzi (I knew her briefly), and there's an article about Rev. Moon? Ok, I bet you're wondering what the cooincidence is. Well, Rev. Moon funded the Universal Ballet Academy (formerly the Kirov Academy of Ballet) in Washington DC, where I used to study ballet. Princess Natalia Strozzsi was there studying the same summer that I was.

No one can deny that Rev. Moon is weird. (At least he put a lot of money raised by his cult into the arts!) He wasn't personally involved in the school, but many of the offic staff and directors were (none of the teachers though). But, I heard some really weird things about him! He's said that he's the reincarnation of Christ, etc. Oh well, just shows what you can do if you've got a lot of money!

I did a paper last year on the tassles in swaziland.

women are so oppressed there. It makes me sad to think about it

my dad i got into this huge argument about it because i was talking about how abused they are and he was trying to tell me that in cultures like that if men don't take multiple wives it is bad for the women because there are more women than men and women in those cultures don't have a place for being independent and don't have many ways to fend for themselves but it's not right to go stealing them away from their parents and marrying them once they're pregnant either

I couldn't agree more. I guess It could be ok that men have more women there due to the situation, but that doesn't mean they have to be oppressed like that, now does it?

Rev. Moon can definately do pretty much what he wants. I don't think that he's scared of anyone - especially not any polititions. When Clinton had just become President, his daughter wanted to study at the ballet academy. Supposedly, Chelsea, Bill, and lots of armed secret service guys showed up when she applied. Chelsea wasn't admitted.  :P

The Romanovs' are my favorite royal family. I've always loved learning about them them. Unfortuneatly none survived, even though I have heard the rumor before about Maria. The one thing I don't like about the animated movie is that the made Rasputin the murder instead of Lenin, you know.

yeah, i worte it in my post!!!!!!  maria and alexei are the two ones missing. i saw a documentary and the compare the bones with a lot of photos.... they expect that maria and alexei were the only bodies which burned!  :(  

Right except, it is Anastacia's that they thing were burned. They first tried to destroy the bodies with acid, but it didn't work. it only makes sence that the two youngest, thus smaller bodies were easily destroyed by these methods.

I read recently, on one of the websites about the Romanovs and the last day and execution of them, that the Tzar, Alexi (the tzarvich), one of the daughters and the doctor were the bodies that were originally burned....not Anastasia though. There is a "detailed report" taken from the journals of Lenin and testimonies from the Bolsheviks I guess. I will try to find the link for all of you. It was a very nice website. It had detailed maps and floor plans of the Impatiev House where they were murdered. Cheers.

Do the Royal Family of Belgium speak French? What is their primary language? Is it Flemish? The reason I ask is I just found out that part of my family comes from Beligum and they spoke French. A family story is that only the upper class spoke French. I wonder how true that was. They came over to teh US from there in the 1800's.

I'm not sure what their first language is, but I know that they speak (have to!! ) both Flemish (dutch) and French.

The king's christmas speech for example was in Flemish. But princess Mathilde still lacks some sympathy from the people, because she speaks lousy Flemish and only French.

Belgium is bilingual, the northern half is Flemish (Vlaanderen) the southern half is French (Walloni?), since there are 2 languages the royal are expected to and (most of them in fact except Mathilde) do speak them perfectly well. :rolleyes:

so, that only the upper class spoke French -> that's not right, the entire southern part speaks French.

Belgium has three official languages: French, Flemish and German. The choice of language has to do with a sociolingual factor (social class) and a geographic factor.  Sociolingual: French is the language of the upper-classes.  Flemish is the language of the middle-classes.  Geographical: the country is divided into two major sections, one part french, the other part dutch, and the capital city Brussels is bilingual.  

The Belgian royal family's native language is French, but the King and his two sons speak very well Dutch.  When prince Phillip and prince Laurent married, both spouses were criticised for not speaking flemish very well.  Especially because around the same time in the Netherlands prince Willem-A had just married Maxima, and she already spoke very very well Dutch, whereas our Belgian princess barely could say 'yes' in Dutch (that is: 'ja').  But the two gals caught up, because now they are very fluent and princess Mathilde's accent is now very good.  


For the record,  the King does two speeches, one in French and one in Flemish.



LisaG: until the 1960s, the language of the upper classes was always French, Dutch was the language of the very very poor.  That changed in the 60s when the economy changed, and Dutch became the language of the middle-classes.  So if your family was Belgian French in the 1800, they probably were rich and educated!

For those of you who don't know, Delphine Boel is the illegitimate daughter of King Albert.  She was all over the news here in Brussels today, but I haven't been able to find any English articles on it, so I can't post. There's no use in me posting a dutch article cuz you all can't read Dutch!  :P

Delphine Boel is the daughter of Sybille, Baroness de Sélys Longchamps, who was prince Albert's mistress during the 1960s.  His relationship with his wife, princess Paola, was almost over.  The reason why she's in the news today is because she has said on television in an interview that Albert was about to divorce princess Paola during that time, but that the King Baudoin, a devout catholic, put them under pressure not to.  Finally, prince Albert broke up with his mistress.  At that point, Delphine was already 9 years old, but she didn't know that prince Albert was her father, she simply regarded him as her mothers "friend".   Later she found out that he was her real father.  She also said in the interview that when the news broke in 1999 that she phoned him.  By that time he was King Albert, and he told her that she was wrong, that he is not her father.

Anyway, he's sort of acknowledged her as his daughter.  In his Christmas speech that year, he sort of mentioned it.  He said that in the passing year he had been reminded of some difficulties he and his wife had during their marriage during the 70s, how happy he was they had overcome those troubles and then he said "that's all I'm going to say about that".  So that's basically how he's acknowledged her publicly.  

She's in the news now because no one knew that divorce was in the cards during the 70s and also that she knew him until she was 9 years old, and then that they telephoned in 1999.  That's the big newsflash.

There was an article around election time that talked about the Presidents and their relation to British royality. Up until this last election every President that won the election was more closely related to the British royal family than the person they were running against. So, in fact, a lot of the presidents (not all) have some royal blood in them. Both John Kerry and George Bush are related to Princess Diana (way back, though)

You know the show America's Next Top Model? It's an exact copy of that : some Amercian girls are taught how to be a ''princess'' by some British upper-upper-upper-upper-class folk. Paul Burrell is involved in it. In the end he gives them a few lessons and is one of the judges having to eliminate candidates. That's about it. The concept is not very interesting, but the stupidity of the people in the series is just amazing!! Good fun to watch, so if you get the chance ..... ;)

I stumbled upon this show sometime last semester and I thought it was a joke. And then I did some research and I guess she really is a "princess". Saudi Arabia's King Fahd has died and his brother, Crown Prince Abdullah, has been appointed the country's new monarch, according to a statement by the Saudi royal court.

I saw a report about King Fahd the other day.  It said that there were rumours that he has been dead for a while and that the Saudi royal family pretended that he was still living because of the rising tensions within Saudi Arabia.

It's still sad news.

King Fahd's summer palace in Marbella, Spain has the same design as the White House - except that it is bigger. When the king visited his palace the event was covered on the TV news because of all the jobs people could get there.

Moroccan Royal Family ~ General Information[/b]

The King of Morocco is an active leader, although decreasingly so. Political parties are legal in Morocco and a great number currently exist.

Before 1957, the office of the King of Morocco was known as Sultan. The current King is Mohammed VI and he is part of the Alaouite Dynasty, which has been in power since 1666.

His Majesty King Mohammed VI[/size]

Birth and Family
King Mohammed VI was born on August 21, 1963 in Rabat, Morocco. He was the second child and oldest son. His parents were King Hassan II and his wife Lalla Latifa Hammou. Mohammed VI has four siblings, HRH Princess Lalla Meryem (older), HRH Princess Lalla Asma (younger), HRH Princess Lalla Hasna (younger), HRH Prince Moulay Rachid (youngest).

Education
At the age of four, King Mohammed began his schooling at the Qur'anic school at the Royal Palace. He did his primary and secondary studies at the Royal College. He recieved his Baccalaurete in 1981 and went on to recieve a BA in Law from the Mohammed V University in 1985. In 1987, he obtained his first CES in Political Science and in 1988 he obtained a "Diplôme des Etudes Supérieures du Doctorat" in Public Law. In 1993, he obtained a PhD in Law from University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis in France. King Mohammed wrote his thesis on EEC-Maghreb Relations.

As King
King Mohammed took the throne on July 23, 1999 after the death of his father. King Mohammed quickly became known as a moderniser as he brought about a constitutional monarchy, wrote the Mudawana (a new family code) giving women more power and he supports political pluralism. Politically, King Mohammed holds the title "Cheif of State."

Marriage and Children
King Mohammad married Salma Bennani (now Princess Lalla Salma) on March 21, 2002. She was a computer engineer and when they got married, King Mohammad gave her the title Princess- the first time a Moroccan sovereign's wife was given a royal title.

The King and Princess Lalla Salma have one child, Crown Prince Moulay Hassan, who was born on May 8, 2003.

Juliet, there are a couple of ways to do that. you can hire a geneologists (spelling) to do it for you since that is what they do. of you can go to your county or city court house or wherever they keep records at. You would want to look at birth and death certificates, tax receipts, who ownes what land, wills, that kind of stuff.  

www.ancestry.com is an online service (paid) that makes searching a lot easier then plowing thru data at your local city hall.

I did some more research into my families history and my relation to the Scottish King Duncan's family means that I am two Scottish houses away to being related to the Windsors my line connects to Mary, Queen of Scots and the Windsors.  So I'm not directly related I'm so distant I'm invisibly related.

She'll probably have a reason for whatever she does. So far, she took her job very seriously, so she'll have a reason to stay home, I'm sure.  

During pregnancy it is not allowed to travel by airplane, because of the high risk anything could happen to the baby. Maybe this was more the reason for not letting her travel. Anyways if she wants to rest why is that a problem, she is pregnant afterall and if she doesn't feel well they shouldn't force her.

She had every right to stay home. First because she's pregnant and doesnt' feel well, and second because she shouldn't even travel by plane if she's in her third trimester, or any trimester if she's having complications.

John Asselborn and John louis Schiltz to the Summit of the Millennium to New York

The summit of the united Nations to the occasion of the 60th birthday of the world-wide organization opened September 14 2005 to New York with the speech of the general secretary Kofi Annan.  

John Asselborn, Vice Prime Minister, minister of the foreign Affairs takes the Luxembourg delegation to this important appointment of the international diplomacy.  It is accompanied S. HAS. R. the Big Duke Heir.  John louis Schiltz, minister of the Cooperation and humanitarian action, represented the Luxembourg at the time of the debate on the development and the humanitarian shutter of the action of the united Nations.

Le renforcement et l'amélioration du mécanisme d'action humanitaire
Jean-Louis Schiltz, ministre de la Coopération et de l'Action humanitaire, a présidé, avec Jan Egeland, secrétaire général adjoint et coordinateur des secours d'urgence des Nations unies, une session spéciale consacrée au renforcement et à l'amélioration du mécanisme d'action humanitaire (CERF - Central Emergency Response Fund).

Le nouveau CERF doit permettre de débloquer des fonds endéans quelques jours pour faire face à des crises oubliées ou à des crises qui nécessitent une réponse immédiate. Le fonds sera un outil additionnel permettant aux Nations unies de sauver des vies humaines. Sa mise en place sera formalisée par l'Assemblée générale des Nations unies d'ici la fin de l'année.

Parmi les nombreux pays présents à cette session spéciale, plusieurs ont annoncé des contributions. Plus de 150 millions USD ont ainsi été engagés par le Luxembourg, la Norvège, les Pays-Bas, le Royaume-Uni, la Suède et la Suisse.

"Trop souvent, ce sont les mauvaises nouvelles qui prédominent dans l'humanitaire. Aujourd'hui, une fois n'est pas coutume, nous annonçons une bonne nouvelle." a déclaré le ministre Schiltz. Le Luxembourg apportera une contribution de 4 millions USD au CERF.

Prince Louis is the third son of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa. He celebrated his 19th birthday on 3d August. Seizure of a part of the objects stolen in a private royal residence in Rabat and the royal palate of Marrakech

A part of the objects stolen in a private Royal Residence with Rabat and the Royal Palate of Marrakech was seized and several implied people were submitted in front of justice, announced the Attorney General of the King close the Court of Appeal of Reduction, M. Hassan Laoufi.
In a declaration with the MAP, M. Laoufi specified that the Particular SM Secretariat the King, in his capacity as representative of the victim part, decided to give up the exercise rights which confers to him the law in this respect, leaving with justice the care to take measurements which appear in conformity to him with the law.

Here the complete text of the declaration of M. Laoufi:

"Following the flights and diversions perpetrated in a private Royal Residence with Rabat and the Royal Palate of Marrakech, in which several invaluable objects having a highly moral value were catch, the investigations diligentées by the Criminal Investigation Department, on order of the parquet floor with Rabat and Marrakech, allowed the seizure of a part of these objects and revealed the implication in these criminal acts several people who were submitted in front of justice.
In comparison with the moral value of the seized objects, the Particular Secretariat of Its Majesty the King, in his capacity as representative of the victim part of the above mentioned acts, requires the retrocession of the aforesaid objects and specifies his decision to give up the exercise of the rights which the law in this case of figure confers to him, including its right to constitute civil part.
The Particular Secretariat of Its Majesty the King affirms that it leaves with Justice the care to take measurements which appear in conformity to him with the law ".

You see, this happens every year it seems!  They said the same thing about England when Princess Diana died, and they haven't stopped since.  I think the reporter is full of hogwash!  First of all, these smaller countries need something like a royal family in order to create tourism.  Otherwise, they don't really have much to offer anyone.  I'm sorry, but there is just something fascinating about royal families, that even the media loves in the end of it all!  My guess is that this one reporter etc. is just  :rant: about something.  Maybe she was banned from the palace or what have you, or now that she said this, my guess is that she won't be allowed in any palace! :P

The Principality of Pindos was an autonomous state set up under fascist Italian and Bulgarian control in northwest Greece during the Second World War. The small state was proclaimed during the Italian occupation of northern Greece as the fatherland of ethnic Aromanians.

The Prince Altchibiades, Duke of Macedonia was the first official ruler of the Principality of Pinos, he reigned from 1940 until he was dethroned by the Italians in 1943. After the dethronement of The Prince Altchibiades I the Italians conferred the title on the Prince Julius, a Hungarian count and thus he held the title of H.H. The Prince Julius I of Pindos.

The Prince Julius I never to took a keen interest in the running of the Principality, he never even set foot on the territory of the state and therefore appointed his brother, Prince Michael as his successor in 1944.

The territory was reincorporated into Greece in 1947 and therefore under the rule of King Paul of Greece.

I love her green dress she wore. I don't really know a lot about any of the Norweigan royal family, but she seems nice and pretty. i think she is pretty well liked the norweigan people isn't she? :)
