Will Queen Camilla have a coronation fan?

It is amazing how many articles are being written on either the attendance or the non-attendance of Prince Henry and Meghan at the Coronation. Does the world really have to know everything they do?

Will there be postcards of the Coronation?

Will there be postcards of the Coronation?

Why would there be postcards? Do people still send postcards to each other? I actually haven?t heard of people doing so since smartphones began to be used by practically everybody under eighty.

There will undoubtedly be dozens of special magazines and newspapers packed with photos of the Coronation though, in the UK and Commonwealth countries anyway. And countless YouTube repeats of it as well.

The Mounties are to feature in King Charles III's coronation procession in May, as part of a prominent Canadian contingent, including the Governor-General. -

RCMP riders are to accompany the Household Cavalry as part of the King's official mounted escort in the procession from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace. -

Four Mounties led the Queen's funeral procession last September in plans approved by the Queen herself during her lifetime. -

"While plans are still evolving, we can confirm that an RCMP mounted contingent, similar in size to the one that took part in the funeral procession for Queen Elizabeth, is being planned for the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III," said Corporal Kim Chamberland, an RCMP spokesperson. -

^Yes people do send and even collect postcards.  Friends of mine save them and put them in a photo type book so that a person looking at them can even read what was written on the back.. I am really hoping that there are lots of different postcards of the Coronation with pictures of King Charles in the crown and robes, I will even save those for this is a once in a lifetime event for those that care about the monarchy.

Smart phones, well I have what I call a *dumb phone* and found it is way smarter then those that are called smart phones, it does everything I need it to do and works better then the smart phone I used to have.

Two things mankind can do without in life, carpet and phones!

Yes, I know people collect postcards. Friends of mine in England do this and have some quite historic and interesting ones. They also keep them in albums. I haven?t heard of anyone actually sending one when on holiday to someone else for a very long time though.

This sort of collecting can be a lovely hobby. I used to collect vintage Xmas, Valentines and birthday cards and even Victorian ones until they began to be horrendously expensive about twenty years ago. Some of the Victorian Valentine cards were homemade and very sweet.

Wonder whether any royals send valentines to each other, lol. I know they used to send Xmas cards to friends and former servants because every now and again ones from HM and PP come onto the market. Don?t know about post cards though!

Traditionally the Coronation and Jubilee's of the monarch are commemorated with a special medal. Typically I've noticed that it's worn by the men and older boys on their suit jackets.
Question-Would  the King's grandchildren receive them as a memento so they could be worn later in life? Also have any of the ladies ever been seen wearing them? I am presuming that Anne wears hers when she's in uniform.

A very young Charles and Anne received Coronation medals. I believe that I have seen a photo of them wearing them that day.
Of QEII's grandchildren, they only began receiving  their first Jubilee medals in 2002 as none of them were born until after the Silver Jubilee celebrations with Peter being born in Nov. 1977.

I don?t think there has been any announcement of coronation medals for King Charles has there? Those in charge of such arrangements are leaving it a bit late if nothing has been arranged. Nevertheless, I?m sure there will be commemorative medals and they will be available for all the usual recipients, including family members, grandchildren as well. They just might be distributed a bit later, after the Coronation.

I asked about this on the other big forum. As I observed there, young royal males can display Coronation/Jubilee medals on their suit jackets/uniforms on appropriate occasions but their female counterparts usually don?t. The poster there seemed to feel that in the past Coronation medals have been handed out to ?every family member with a pulse? which I agree with, so it?s likely the grandchildren will receive one.

George, Charlotte and Louis to star in King's coronation
Prince and Princess of Wales's children will take part in procession from Westminster Abbey back to Buckingham Palace

All three siblings are expected to be on public display, according to coronation rehearsal plans. Although the children's presence has not been confirmed by Kensington Palace, documents show that after processing out of the abbey, they are expected to join their parents in a carriage behind the King and Queen, who will be in the Gold State Coach.

Riding in a Coronation procession is hardly ?starring?. Grandchildren of Edward VII were in carriages to and from the Abbey in 1902, including Edward and Bertie. The children of King George V rode in the 1911 Coronation procession, that is Mary, Edward, Bertie, Henry and George. Elizabeth and Margaret rode in the carriage in the procession of 1937 when their father was crowned. It?s usual at Coronations, and expected. .

The working royals and the Wales children seem like a reasonable choice to be in the procession.  I  expect that other family members who do not perform royal duties on behalf of the monarch and the nation will likely take different transportation that day.

Yes, and that includes the vast majority of the late Queen?s grandchildren, Harry, Peter, Zara, Eugenie, Beatrice, Louise and James. The King?s son, brother and nieces and nephews, leaving the carriages mostly filled with very elderly people like the Kents and Gloucesters and late middle-aged Wessexes for the public to cheer. Not to mention inside the Coach!

TLLK

So if I am correct,  the only living BRF members who were present at the last coronation would the King Charles III,  the Duke of Gloucester (Richard), as well as the  Kents: Edward, Alexandra and Michael. The Princess Royal made a balcony appearance but was not at Westminster Abbey. Now they'll be present again for the second coronation in their lifetimes.
