Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attend party at Guinness Storehouse after meeting President and Taoiseach - Independent.ie

William's speech referenced his grandmother's historic visit in 2011 and he used a couple of Irish words in it. He also spoke of the special relationship between the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom. (Something that was not always there in decades past IMO.)

QuoteSpeaking at the event, Prince William addressing the crowds as ?daoine uaisle,? or ?gentlefolk?. "Catherine and I are delighted to be here tonight and are both very grateful to Robin for his generous words,? he said.

"Ireland is a country that we have both heard so much about, so we are really excited to be here with you to see it first-hand for ourselves.

"In coming to the Guinness Storehouse, we are retracing the footsteps of my grandmother, who was shown how to pour the perfect pint here in 2011. "Ladies and gentlemen let me tell you it is not often that I find myself following the Queen to a pub. But I am looking forward to testing for myself the theory that Guinness tastes even better in Ireland than overseas.

"On a slightly more serious note I just wanted to thank all of you in the room for coming here this evening.

"Thank you for all that you do to support the very special relationship between our two countries. It has been a pleasure to meet so many of you this evening who demonstrate the breadth of our connections across the arts, sports, uniformed services, education and research, and charity sectors.

"We value it as we do your friendship and are committed to strengthening it further. "We are very much looking forward to our next two days in Ireland, where I have no doubt we will continue to be impressed by the creativity, warmth and hospitality the Irish people have to offer.?

He ended the speech by raising his pint of Guinness and saying ?Slainte?.

well yes the special relationship was one of mutual distaste and suspicion.  what Irish words did he say?  Was Begorrah among them?

'I got a handshake from Kate, it was amazing' - Royal tour continues with visit to teen charity - Independent.ie

QuoteTHE DUKE and Duchess of Cambridge met the organisers and service users of a teen mental health charity this morning on the second day of their Irish visit.

Prince William and Kate Middleton visited Jigsaw, The National Centre for Mental Health in Temple Bar in Dublin City Centre this morning.

They commended the work produced by both the organisers and service users of the charity and met three young people from the charity?s youth advisory panel.

The visit to the charity took six to eight weeks to organise and it was the royal visit organisers from the UK who reached out to Jigsaw.

CEO of Jigsaw Joseph Duffy said: ?Inside, they met some of our funders, the HSE, they met three young people who have used our services across the country and they spent the most time talking with them and their experience.

?They also met with teachers and representatives from the work we do in the community and supporting schools.

Speaking to Independent.ie, member of the panel Abigail McDonnell said how meeting the royal couple was ?surreal?.

So while driving to a convenience store with two of the kids to purchase some vegetables for the soup they were making, the Cambridges did a brief walkabout to talk to people who had gathered there in hopes of seeing them.

Kensington Palace: The Duke of Cambridge is to visit Dubai for the first time officially on 10 February at the request of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. His visit will come in the UAE's 50th anniversary year and coincides with UK National Day at #EXPO2020DUBA. He will also highlight the work of @united4wildlife and @EarthshotPrize.

I believe that this is William's first overseas visit since 2020.

The DM is speculating that the Cambridges will tour the Caribbean this spring as part of the Jubilee celebrations. However official confirmation has been released at this time. It's not uncommon for members of the BRF to officially tour/visit parts of the Commonwealth during the monarch's Jubilee. There were many undertaken during the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

The Duchess of Cambridge will visit Copenhagen on Feb 22 and 23 on a working visit with The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood.

She will meet Crown Princess Mary and receive an official welcome from Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II.

"Looking forward to learning from experts, parents & practitioners about Denmark's approach to early childhood later this month. Denmark is a beacon of best practice in its approach to the early years, with a culture which prioritises the best start in life."

Loved the little video with Catherine creating the Danish flag with Legos. It was probably easy to find a huge pile of them in the children's bedrooms. Also I wouldn't be surprised if Catherine is gifted with a few sets of Legos to take home.
Happy to that another royal-royal visit is taking place after a long absence of nearly two years.
Interested to see what the takeaway will be from the visit and which practices and curriculum that she and the Early Years directors would like to consider recommending to British nursery schools and childcare facilities.

There are European nations like Denmark where there is an emphasis on getting children back into nature through day trips or even using the forest as the setting for the learning. My husband's cousin has enrolled her two eldest children in a German version of a forest kindergarten. Knowing Catherine's desire to bring nature and children together, I'm sure that a trip to a forest kindergarten/nursery will likely be on the agenda.

The visit will also celebrate the Jubilees of HMQ and QM. Kate has met Mary on numerous occasions and QM was a guest at the Cambridges wedding.

While we are not at 15 pages yet, I am closing this thread early and opening a new one in advance of the Cambridges' upcoming trips to Denmark and their Jubilee tour for Spring 2022.
